As Colorado's open range law permits ranchers to graze their cattle without borders, you will often find them on the roadways or you may even get caught up in a cattle drive as the ranchers move their cattle from one pasture or paddock to another. Springtime brings all the calves and branding time! Observing the rancher, his horse, and dog working together is a genuine treat. Look along the roadside for sage grouse, in the open fields for pronghorn, down in the willows and streams for the bull moose, in the trees for the mule deer, and on top of the ridge lines for the elk. There are also bald eagle and osprey nests, alpacas, horses, sheep, and goats. All this just on the ride into Williams Fork Lodging! Our residence sits above this scenic panorama at the end of the road and adjacent to public lands tucked beneath Copper Peak on the Williams Fork Range. The elevation is roughly 8,500 feet and the 180 degree view is breathtaking...encompassing three mountain ranges, many peaks, pastures/meadows, forest, and ponds. Soak in everything from the glorious sunrises to enchanting full moons to brilliant stars that truly seem closer than they are…the view of the Milky Way is unobstructed by light pollution for outstanding celestial shows…and meteor showers are spectacular from the hot tub! We live on the same property as the Lodge and are quite self sustainable: hunting, fishing, gardening, gathering wild berries, and raising our own poultry meat. Deer came right down to the Lodge, plenty of creature comforts in the kitchen, jacuzzi tub, hot tub, with wifi and central heat. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. Trailhead on site for a good hike, or another right across the hwy. King Suite was spacious, check in was easy, be ready for an extra deposit fee.

I booked a tent site at A-Lodge and it exceeded every expectation. The property is tucked into a peaceful mountain pocket with just the right mix of wilderness and comfort. You get the feeling of camping in nature, but with clean facilities, hot showers, and a friendly staff that actually cares about your stay. The tent sites are spaced out perfectly—private enough to feel like you’re on your own adventure, but close enough to walk to amenities. Waking up to the sound of the creek and the cool morning air was the best way to start the day. Trails are right next to the lodge, so I was able to hike straight from my campsite without ever getting in my car. The staff deserves special mention. They were welcoming, knowledgeable about the area, and gave genuinely helpful tips for hikes, food, and local spots. The community vibe around the lodge, especially in the evening, made the experience even better—quiet when you want rest, relaxed when you feel social. If you’re looking for a tent camping spot that balances nature, comfort, and adventure, A-Lodge is the place. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We booked through HipCamp last minute and I am glad they were still able to accommodate us. The drive to the ranch was just beautiful! You’ll pass by a couple of ski resorts and beautiful small towns that are worthy of visiting! The ranch it self was surrounded by water, we booked Camp 24 and it was just perfect for me and my boyfriend and his Sprinter Van. It was also in front of the lake/river so that was a great plus! We didn’t book any rooms so my 5 star rating is for the toilet that was well maintained and cleaned. We arrived after 5pm so there was no one to check us in but we really appreciate the welcome map addressed to me that led us to our campsite. Another 5 star. And lastly, the ranch is just perfect for first timers like us as it was very accessible. There’s a small town 25mins away that has a City Market and pretty much everything you’ll need. We bought 2 bags of wood but that was definitely not enough. Luckily there were a lot of old woods on the ground that we were able to use. We also tried to fish but no luck on that. Overall, the experience was amazing and I can’t wait to go back with our friends there.

Our stay at this Hipcamp site was peaceful, scenic, and exactly what we were hoping for. Ernest was friendly and communicative, and the igloo was clean with plenty of space and privacy. We loved sitting by the mini fireplace and hot tub at night under a sky full of stars. Waking up to birdsong and fresh mountain air was also a great addition. Everything felt thoughtfully cared for and simple in the best way no distractions, just a chance to slow down and reconnect. I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing, off-the-grid getaway.

What a wonderful visit to the sweetest Cabin imaginable. Hartsell is a darling little town with lots to do within a short drive… Hot Springs, a drive-in, movie theater, great restaurants and outdoor activities. The house was exactly as pictured with wood for the fireplace, a well stocked kitchen, a cozy bed, plenty of extra blankets and pillows, and absolutely stunning views. We had an incredible time and would go back in a heartbeat!

What a magical, well cared for place. It was clear the owners thought of every special touch. We stayed in the big cabin on the property. This home was the coziest and most relaxing place to stay ever!!! 🥰Such happy and warm vibes all around even staying on a 40 degree weekend!!! The wood burning stove was so amazing and kept the house so warm! There was even firewood available!!! 😇I brought my own but it was awesome there was some extra! Me and my girlfriend cooked some delicious meals in the adorable, spacious, and well stocked kitchen! It was the most amazing birthday getaway and my girlfriend was so pleased as well! Thank you Lauren for hosting such a wonderful and beautiful home to the Hipcamp/ Airbnb community ☺️ we will 100% be back!!! Our little chiweenie, Mabel absolutely loved the home too! She felt right at home and loved to explore the front yard and sit on the cute back porch and sunbathe. Mabel will want to return for another trip as well 🥰🐾💜

There is fishing, skiing, golfing, snowmobile riding along with plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. The best and closest restaurant and bar is the Roadhouse Bar and Grill which is a 1/2 mile away, you can enjoy good food without going all the way into town. They have the best Country fried chicken and steak on Friday and crab legs on Saturday! If you are down to earth and just want to have a good time you'll love this place!! Dishwasher in the kitchen and we do have to pack out the trash so please use the dishwasher and leave the paper plates at home, less trash is better!

Little Gem Lodge is privately located an hour outside of Denver with ~30 mins drive to Golden Gate Canyon, El Dora and Black Hawk casinos with a private hot tub! Explore local small towns Rollinsville, Nederland, Wondervu. Bypass I70 ski traffic to access major resorts or X Country rec parks and amazing hikes. ~1 hour to RMNP, Georgetown Train, Ward. The space The house is located on an acre of land in Black Hawk, CO which is about an hour outside of Denver just past the Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The surrounding area has amazing Mountain Views and you can drive to the town of Black Hawk for dinner/Casinos in about 20 minutes (depending on the weather), to Rollinsville in about 20 minutes in the other direction, or to El Dora in about 30 minutes. Given that it takes about 20 minutes to get to any neighboring small town, note that the house location is remote. It is located in a residential neighborhood where most houses are on an acre of land. Because of that, sound travels very easily so while it is usually quiet, you can easily hear dogs barking or music. Guests love that this space is PRIVATE on an entire acre of land without any street noise. Enjoy this beautiful home without worrying about where or when you have to be somewhere. Black Hawk - have your own private space and hot tub & escape some of the madness of staying at the casinos by opting to stay at Little Gem Lodge! Small Towns (Rollinsville, Nederland, Black Hawk, Wondervu, Idaho Springs) - there are lots of cute local restaurants and breweries in each of these towns. Hiking + Cross Country Ski/Rec Areas - You have close access to Golden Gate Canyon State Park, St Mary's Glacier, Rocky Mountain National Park (~1-1.5 hours), 14ers. It's an awesome outdoor enthusiast location in any season because of its proximity to the mountains and state parks. You will have access to the entire house. It’s two stories with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the main level and one bedroom/one bathroom on the second level.
