Spruce Lodge located in South Fork..."Basecamp for Adventure" HISTORIC SPRUCE LODGE A rich history that goes back to the 1920's and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Spruce Lodge, originally built in 1927 in South Fork, CO, is located near the Rio Grande River at the foot of the San Juan Mountains and provides an environment of warm hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. Historically accommodating workers for the Sawmill in the 1920's, The Spruce Lodge was purchased in May of 2022 with a primary purpose of housing adults who are participating in a Gap Year program designed to mentor new adults and serve the South Fork community. The property continues to operate as a hotel and has undergone extensive updates to all of the rooms. We have 8, 30 amp RV spots available to rent from April to October. Our small RV lot allows for a less crowded RV experience with all the same, beautiful views and access to all the area has to offer. And we have the most affordable rates in South Fork! Most of our RV guests end up extending their stay to take advantage of all the outdoor activities South Fork and the San Luis Valley have to offer. Terrific! The spot is 10 minutes from Durango and far enough from the owners home that it felt private. And there are endless acres of forest for the dogs to explore. We had no problem accessing the site in our rwd Ford Transit. Verizon signal was adequate. Tree coverage made starlink useless.

Beautiful spot in the hills above Durango! Directions were clear, site was level, firepit and utilities all as advertised. We drove a 2 WD Ram Class B and had no issues accessing. Will stay here again when we are in Durango next. :)

This spot was perfect. It was in a great location close to the hot springs which is what we go to pagosa for. There are some woods nearby that our dogs had a blast in. Beautiful and peaceful. Totally will come back!

This spot has a lot of potential. It truly is in a grove of aspens right up the hill from the host’s home. I was a week too early for the color change! I normally dry camp so I felt spoiled when the host ran both power and water to my camper. The spot was quiet and convenient to Durango, the Million Dollar Highway, and Vallecito Reservoir. I spent most of my time exploring those areas. I was in a trailer and had to back up a steep hill to get to the spot. It was not difficult, and if I had failed, the host was there to help. If I’m back in the area I will definitely stay there again!

Simple campsite for a quick stay. The campsite is a gravel drive in the front yard of a home in a rural neighborhood. Active wildlife in the area. We had a deer run by the tent and heard elk calls at night. It's more of an RV spot with an electric hook-up, but does suffice for a quick, overnight stay. Be sure to use the bathroom before you show!

This spot is great — Full hook-ups. Views are gorgeous. Grounds are well-kept. Area feels safe. There’s even a “hidden little gem” if you hike up the short trek on back of the property to find the gorgeous view overlooking the small lake behind the property. It’s amazing. My favorite little surprise!! The only negative was that it was a holiday weekend, and there was some sort of motorcycle convention or event going on in Durango, and this made the road noise from the campsite seem excessive. (Though it may not be that way at other times…). ??? This was really the only unenjoyable aspect. Everything else was positive, and I’m happy we found this beautiful little spot to get away.
