The 160 acre ranch was homesteaded by my grandfather over 100 years ago. He was an engineer. **Please note that the GPS will take you 300 feet away from my property, please follow my clear instructions that are sent in your welcome email. There is signage that you can also follow. ** The plan was to use this property as summer grazing for his cattle. The cattle were wintered at the other ranch about 10 miles away, which was homesteaded by my great grandfather. Because my grandfather could survey, he made sure the property lines zigzaged up the valley so the small creek was in the middle to provide water for the animals. He chose well. It is a beautiful, quiet place with elk, deer and wild turkeys. There are tons of wild flowers in the summer. Columbines, the Colorado state flower, wild roses, paintbrushes and lots of wild chokecherries. With nice views of nearby mountains, open pastures, evergreen forests and aspen groves, it looks like it did 100 years ago. Plus, there are a couple of ponds for your dogs to cool off in. Since the first cattle, the ranch has also been home to goats, chickens, horses, and now more goats, alpacas and llamas. And of course the Great Pyrenees ranch dogs. I had a house built a few years ago and live on the property full time. The ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest with the Colorado Trail connecting the property in a number of places. Some of the highest ranked mountain bike trails are nearby. There are lots of places on and off the property to hike, mountain bike and ride your horse. This cozy campsite sits just off Highway 24 and only a few minutes from the charming town of Hartsel. You will enjoy wide open mountain views and sunsets that will stay with you long after your visit. Whether you love fishing, hiking, or gravel biking, this spot is a perfect base for your adventure. Fairplay is only twenty minutes away and Colorado Springs is just over an hour, making this a convenient and peaceful escape. Before your trip, be sure to check the fire ban status in Park County since the winds can pick up at times. The property is open meadowland with no trees for shade during the day, so plan accordingly. The driveway is dirt but easy to access, and even small cars make it in just fine. Review the property layout image before you arrive so you know exactly where to go and what to look out for. If you are car or tent camping, bring warm clothes for the cool evenings, a comfortable spot to sleep, and of course some bug spray. Most importantly, relax and enjoy the quiet beauty of the land and the night sky. While the guideline mentions one car per site, you are welcome to bring friends. With a small additional fee, you can have up to two cars and four people per site so you can share the experience together. Take a moment to look over the access and campsite image before your arrival, and keep in mind that GPS will drop a pin in the middle of the property. Weekend Trip to Hart Family Farm

We had such a wonderful greeting from Sara’s grazing sheep, her dog Yogi and her cat Salty. It took only minutes for my son to join her daughter on the family’s swing-set. We had intended to “glamp” somewhere close to Estes Park, and the Burro fit the bill! The tiny space heater made the camper cozy on the cold nights, and we had access to her walk-in basement restroom and shower (even if we opted not to shower because we like to “rough it” on camping trips). After a day of hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, my 8-year-old could not wait to “get back to the farm”, and spend time with all the animals. Sara’s daughter Rose even treated my son to a riding lesson on a pony for a very reasonable price. We also enjoyed the nearby creek just at the back of her property and an excellent recommendation to a nearby park. Additional perk is that my little loved to pet the animals in the morning while I was getting breakfast or dinner ready. Always something to do at this beautiful location!

This is one of the most beautiful camp sites we have been to this year. Tim is great to work with and we appreciate him for sharing this property with us. If you get a chance to book, I would highly suggest you do. Spending time fishing with my young grandaughter was the best part of our trip. and the fishing was excellent. I also loved being able to take my dogs without any worries. Just a beautiful property.

Staying at Burro on Sara’s property was amazing. Having opportunity for shower in the house and staying in the privacy of the backyard was a great combination for my wife and me. Camper was clean, just enough for two of us on a great location. Close to the main road, yet secluded. Short drive to the restaurants, grocery shops, coffee shops, bakery and trails. Sara was a great host and we would stay at her place again anytime. Excellent communication.

Debbie is an amazing host and this HipCamp is a beautiful site for small and large groups alike. We’re return visitors and Debbie helped us reserve the right size campsite for our growing group. The site is beautiful and well maintained and it’s perfect for kids - we felt perfectly safe letting the kids explore on their own. Debbie also let us pet and feed the goats that live on the property. The kids enjoyed seeing the llamas and ponies, as well. Would heartily recommend this campsite to anyone.

Number 13 is a great site pushback from the road with lots of great trees. Slightly slanted, so bring blocks to level out, but totally doable. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Was super fun to see ponies and llamas. Kids got to run around and build a fort. We’ll definitely come back!

Beautiful camp site. Shawn was super helpful the entire time! We found a beautiful spot up a hill from the actual camp spot to hold my wedding ceremony! The sky was gorgeous and we have plenty of room to explore and be comfortable. My only complaint is the hill leading to the bridge was pretty steep. I would 100% come back! Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Madeline's property was so tranquil and just a short drive into town. With views of Pikes Peak and plenty of space to spread out. We discovered we were a bit larger than the recommended RV length, but Madeline and her Mom were so accommodating! The property is peaceful and we could let our dogs off leash, which is a plus. Especially for our furry full-time travelers to stretch their legs. I would highly recommend a stay here!

Complete with a sofa, a number of chairs, a tent and a firepit, this place has it all!
