The Ute Lodge was homesteaded in the 1930’s by Joe Fox who after leaving the military came west to settle in the White River valley. Joe was known for his friendliness, hospitality and wild stories. Today you might find much of the same. From Joe’s day to today it is a place where families come together to get away. The Ute Lodge is now owned by Karl and Mona Maser who celebrated 20 years of ownership summer of 2019! All summer our cabins are filled with guests from all over the US as well as international travelers. One of our favorite things about the summer is our weekly potlucks where we all share an outdoor meal. All of our visitors have a standing invitation to join us around the community campfire at night. While we have plans for more developing in the future, we ourselves are in the process of working into our own plans for the overall site. Right now, a peaceful night's sleep is much of the idea of this stay. While there is some noise from the highway that runs near the property, it gears much towards agricultural travel, such as semi trucks headed to and from from the area. While we always will have handwashing water and a bottle of drinking water, we are in the process of developing, which REQUIRES that anyone who reserves is ALREADY equipped with sufficient drinking, any cooking water- and any necessary washing water for their overnight staying. There is a plug, small coffeemaker, and microwave which are within the structure. Some paper towels or napkins and a tissue box are provided. While much of the time, there are ample hand towels for some convenience and extra older sleeping bags, it is not our responsibility at this time to "provide linens". Trained pet may accompany a guest, and are not the responsibility in ANY WAY of the management. Parents or guardians are completely responsible for any children or guest that accompanies them. At this time, this structure is only for people who can walk up a 100 foot, small hill without any assistance that is not already accompanying them. Owners are not responsible for providing night time bright lights. While there is always a lamp it doesn't always provide enough light for some. There is no cooling system within the structure, and only overnight is cool in the summer-(Checkout is before 10 AM).

With over 25 years of dedicated stewardship by Larry and Mary Kay Monger, this ranch is steeped in history and tradition, sitting beneath the majestic Elk Mountain, also known as Sleeping Giant, in the scenic lower Elk River Valley. This thriving cattle ranch has been operational for over a century, originally established as a sheep ranch by Larry’s family in the early 1900s. Transitioning to cattle ranching under Larry’s father, the ranch has evolved into a successful cow/calf operation that keeps the Mongers busy year-round. The cattle are divided into two groups, with one herd grazing at the Carpenter Ranch in Hayden, managed by the Nature Conservancy, while the other remains on the hay meadows during winter, receiving daily hay feed. As calving season approaches in March, Larry and Mary Kay diligently check on the cows, ensuring that any needing assistance receive help. Once calving is complete, branding day arrives, where each calf is marked with the H-connected-T brand and given necessary immunizations.

If you are looking for something very remote with full hook ups this is a great place to stay. This is a farm on private property. We were left alone the 3 nights we stayed. If you have scrapes left from a meal, you can feed them to the pigs. We would come back.

So peaceful and beautiful. Great trails for some hiking and the pond was a great place to spend some time. Loved sitting outside with morning coffee and listening to the creek and animals. Loved hearing the horses, ducks, chickens and pigs. She was nice and a pleasure to talk too and her 2 dogs are so friendly and sweet. Was very helpful and helped accommodate us with our 45’ foot rig. Had a nice area with a sand box, swings, basketball and games and an area for bonfire. Well worth the visit!

Beautiful little campground in a small, quiet town. Wonderful views, and so many stars at night. The bathrooms were clean with lots of space. I liked that the tent sites were at the back of the campground in their own quiet area. I hope to visit again!

All set up with linens, towels, soaps etc. clean and neat. Tiny kitchen. Don’t plan big dinners. There is a grill and propane. No inside table. Small sofa. Very nice loft sleeping area. Bed is very comfortable. Slept great! Bathroom is tiny but fine. No more than 2-3 people for sure. Campground is adorable! Looks like a Western town with all the different tiny homes. Nice outdoor fire pit for all to use. Definitely highly recommend.

Home on Wheels is a truly sweet and special place. Hosts Mona, Carl and Martina could not be nicer. It was so fun to enjoy the farm life, pet the horses, feed the pigs our scraps, listen to the chickens, play the games and sit by the community fire. We mainly hiked and fished all over the gorgeous area. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Boyer YL Ranch

We had the most incredible stay at Boyer YL Ranch in Wyoming! We stayed in the historic barn loft and it was absolutely magical—full of charm, peacefulness, and the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable. The host was so kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our kids especially loved playing in the river just steps from the loft and discovering books in the little lending library. It felt like stepping into a slower, more beautiful way of life. We even saw a moose just steps from the barn! We left feeling refreshed, connected, and already planning our next visit. Couldn’t recommend it more—we will definitely be going back!

This camp site is absolutely beautiful and Mona and Karl are just the kindest! My friend and I went on a camping trip during early June and were the only ones staying on the site(besides host). Everyone was so friendly and accommodating! We were able to go paddle boarding and Karl helped us set everything up. We had great conversations with both Mona and Karl and they are both great people to talk to. This was my first time using Hipcamp and I can say that it went very well. I’m already planning to bring my family out here asap!!

2 nights at Cabin on the river at Welder Ranch

We loved the whole cabin experience. View from the cabin was incredible, the wood stove made me feel like I was in a movie, and the walks through the snow lined paths and roads surrounded by beautiful forest was amazing. Enjoyed cross country skiing, the snowmobile adventure provided by Welder Outfitting, and can't wait to come back in the summer.
