Amazing spot by a creek with views of the flat tops and animals galore. Barb is a great host and we will definitely be back.
Just ~20 mins drive to the first of 3 lakes and the flat tops wilderness.
We were also pleasantly surprised by Antlers restaurant and Flat Tops Cafe just down the road.

This was a wonderful camping spot, so much so we wish we could have stayed longer. Barb was a helpful host, and the site was beautiful. Sitting by the creek and watching the sheep and goats (and marmots in the wood pile) at sundown was delightful after a long day of driving and hiking. We highly recommend this site to campers that value privacy and amazing views. Thanks so much for making your pasture available.

We had a wonderful stay at Barb’s place and truly enjoyed our time on her farm! The location by the river is so peaceful—you can hear the soothing sound of the water all the time, which is perfect for escaping city noise. The views are beautiful, with amazing mountain scenery all around. Barb is incredibly kind and welcoming, and she let us explore the farm and spend time with the animals, which made our stay even more special. It’s a fantastic place to relax—we highly recommend it!

We absolutely loved our stay at Valley of the Bear Ranch and will be back next summer! Our 16 month old loved visiting the animals and the tractors. The camper spot is secluded by the creek with wide open views of nature and a sheep pasture. Barb was a lovely host and took time to show us the land and introduce us to the animals. We bought some of her lamb, beef and eggs to cook onsite and take home with us - it is all delicious. Highly recommended!

This was hands down one of the coolest spots I have stayed at. It was right near the river an has pretty views of the mountains. Not to mention all the lovely animals. This place is hidden gem!! 10/10 would recommend, very peaceful 🐮☮️☀️⛰️

Unbelievable setting and hospitality. The creek and cows serenaded us all night. The fresh eggs and ranch raised beef were terrific. My favorite add on was feeding a baby goat. My husband loved the livestock guardian dog, Jessica who was super sweet with our puppy.

This was my wife and I’s second time at Barbs place, and this time we bright our daughter, son in law, and grandson with dogs up to camp. We knew the kids work love it there and it did not disappoint! Route County had a fire restriction so that’s how it goes these days. We had no fire, but we made memories nonetheless!
100% would recommend this hip camp site and Barb was very helpful and the baby goat feed was pretty epic with our grandson.

We had a delightful time at Valley of the Bear Ranch! The campsite is picturesque, right by the river, surrounded by the sweetest animals and beautiful views all around. We eagerly awaited our nightly visit by the resident guardian dog Jess. Barb has created the most wonderful and welcoming space and we highly recommend!

We loved it. We hope to come again.
If you ever read Ivan Doig or Wallace Stegner or maybe watch the prequels to Yellowstone and wished you could experience a sheep ranch; this is the real deal. Land this beautiful is very hard to find.
The campsite was clean and freshly mowed. The eggs were delicious, the firewood more than we could use and the dog amazing, friendly and well behaved. The goats and sheep are beautiful and highly entertaining.

Overall this is a wonderful campsite with many beautiful features. It is lovely with gorgeous scenic vistas, next to a river and some very curious livestock who love people watching. The hosts were very kind and accommodating- especially when we got stuck in traffic and had to keep pushing back our meeting time.
The only drawback was that I do think that the description is a bit misleading - there are no “occasional” cow-pies - the entire campsite seems to be a part of the area where livestock move through so it is completely covered in animal waste. Perhaps this is not bothersome to campers who are in RVs or camping within a vehicle but for tent campers like ourselves you might want to take that into consideration.

Can’t say enough great things about this spot. Barb and Jeremiah were wonderful hosts! Very responsive and kind. Provided delicious eggs and firewood ready when we got there. Views were amazing and unobstructed. Right on the river with spot for hammock. Not tons of shade but did have small shady spots by river during the day. Loved walking to see all the animals. We definitely would go back!

We loved camping at this spot! It was great seeing all the different animals and the dog was super sweet. The field of wildflowers were fun to frolic in. The space felt private and removed enough from the main property. The eggs and wood from Barb were a definite plus! Even in rainy and windy weather we had a great time!

Private. No toilet. Bring shade. Pack out trash. No cell/internet. It was perfect space to get away with kids and feel safe. We love the ranch dog. Wish we could have met the baby goats. Stagecoach resevoir was a fun day adventere nearby,. Antlers Inn is yummy!

We loved pitching a tent right next to the creek and listening to it all night. The tent site has open views of the Yampa Valley. In the morning, Barb let us feed the goats and sheep. This is a beautiful, quiet spot that we would recommend.

We really enjoyed camping on Barb’s ranch for the weekend! She and her husband welcomed us in and showed us our spot along the creek with a picnic table. We got add-ons for wood to use their fire pit and fresh farm eggs that were delicious for breakfast. Their sweet farm dogs made us feel safe and loved seeing sheep and goats nearby! What a treat!

We loved staying here. The campsite is peacefully secluded next to the river in a beautiful pasture. Barb was such a lovely and welcoming host. She even met us at the goats and let the kids feed them treats! We will cherish the memories we made here.

My girlfriend and I spent two nights on the spotted fox meadow and it was fantastic! The camping spot was very secluded from the main house and situated perfectly next to the river. Jeremiah was extremely welcoming and had the best recommendations for food and hikes. We had and amazing time getting to know all the animals on the working ranch, especially the dogs. Start gazing is an absolute must at this campsite.

We had a great, relaxing time camping on Barb's land! Barb and her wonderful two dogs greeted us when we arrived. The site was perfect for our truck camper and our friend's camper van. We will definitely go back when we're in the area. I highly recommend it!
