Malaina was a great host, respected our privacy and wow both my boyfriend and I were significantly impressed with the hot tub. Cool area to explore, malaina recommended a hike that gave a beautiful view of Lake New Malones. The bed was a comfy and there was a gate we could close off our space with for optimal privacy/comfort for puppy off leash. Thanks for a great adventure!

We absolutely love it there!! This was our second time and we plan on going back multiple times in the future. Malaina it is such an amazing host. She makes you feel right at home. It’s so comfortable there. The bed is super comfy and It’s so peaceful. The hot tub is amazing and the outdoor shower as well. Had a nice weekend stay. The cabin is nice and stocked with towels, dishes, and cookware. There was a leak so we could not use the jacuzzi tub. We went to the White Pines Lake which was fun. The area is beautiful. Carlos was very responsive and helped with any issues we had.

We had a very relaxing stay at the little cabin. The outdoor hot tub with the hot water was amazing, so relaxing! The bed was really comfortable and the bedding kept us snug and warm. What a beautiful corner Malania has made. Me and my boyfriend had a great time! Very close to Sonora and amazing restaurants and fun bars :) Kitchen has everything you would need! The cabin at Joyful Heart is absolutely magical! We loved staying here (this was our second time) and would love to return. Relaxing in the tub under the stars, enjoying crisp mornings full of birdsong, and having a cozy launching point for nearby hikes in Jamestown as well as for visiting Yosemite for a day -- it's a very dreamy place. In the winter, the cabin warms up nicely with the provided heater, and having hot water for bathing makes the chillier nights really lovely.

The cozy cabin was a wonderful place to stay for a romantic getaway. Very private and has plenty of cooking equipment and little things to add to the enjoyment of your stay, like a hot shower, hot tub, towels, robes and lights. The bed is comfortable, the cabin stays nice and warm with a heater. Outside there is a firepit, camping stove, bbq and sink with running water. We had an awesome time and would recommend this place as a getaway for couples any season.

There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”.

There is a wonderful swing in the back yard as well as a large deck with comfortable seating accessed by the French doors off the master suite. Rollins Lake is one mile away. Very quiet neighborhood. 5 miles from Colfax and Hwy 80. 10 miles from Grass Valley and Hwy 49. I am right next door should you need anything. Very large parking area. Guest access Your private entrance front door opens out onto a covered porch. Stone steps lead to front yard and fire pit. Entire 2 acres is fully fenced. View of pond. French doors open off master bedroom and lead to large deck, hot tub and additional seating. View of vintage workshop and stone steps invite you to try the rope swing hanging from 200' oak tree. Other things to note 1.) I appreciate guests whose dogs are well behaved and well groomed. 2 .) I ask that guests shower prior to using the hot tub. Our skin oils, lotions, sunscreen, insect repellent and hair products get can wreak havok with the filters and cleanliness of the water which I work hard to maintain as pristine. 3.) Where to go

Stanislaus National Forest

Named after the river running through it, Stanislaus National Forest has three wilderness areas—Carson-Iceberg, Emigrant, Mokelumne Wilderness Area. Hike, backpack, and fish in the Sierra Nevada mountains and spend the night to enjoy the area for a couple of days. Campers who are staying in the forest will need a free pass from the visitor center. Bring the tent or RV to campsites with full hookups, or grab a backpack and hike in to dispersed camping all around the forest. In winter, rent one of the stocked cabins to serve as a homebase for backcountry skiing. Most wilderness trailheads are inaccessible for hiking during snowier months though.

Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park

In the Sierra Nevada foothills west of Plymouth is Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park. It’s named for the bedrock mortar holes carved into marbleized limestone used by indigenous peoples to grind acorns from the surrounding oak forest. Campers can reserve traditional bark houses in the park for a primitive camping experience with a historical connection. Indian Grinding Rock also has overnight campsites for tents and RVs with firepits, picnic tables, and token-operated hot showers for a refresh after a day of exploring Chaw’se Regional Indian Museum.

Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

After gold was discovered by James W. Marshall in 1848, people flocked to the region resulting in the historic Gold Rush. Memorializing the site on Nisenan peoples’ land, campers at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park can pan for American River gold and see important Gold Rush sites on ranger-led Gold Discovery Tours. Hike and picnic on the park grounds while staying at tent or RV campsites with full hookups at privately owned campgrounds nearby.
