Welcome to Camp SourBerry! Here, you can pitch your tent with a view. You can enjoy the feeling of rural seclusion while within walking distance (~1 mile) from shops and restaurants in Oakhurst. The South Gate to Yosemite National Park is less than a 30-minute drive (~75 minutes drive-time to the Valley floor), and Bass Lake's shores are only 15 minutes away.
Local wildlife is abundant. Wild turkeys are a common sighting, especially in the spring and fall, as are squirrels, bears, deer, coyotes, and bobcats, plus all kinds of native birds (hawks, quail, jays, woodpeckers, ravens, vultures, and eagles). We have a small homestead-style farm and so do the neighbors, so you can hear the distant sounds of chickens, turkeys, sheep, goats, and cows. Because the safety of our animals (and yours) is paramount, we do not allow pets off-leash.
Whether you want to stay put and enjoy the natural setting or have a base from which to explore world-class attractions, we would love to host your next vacation.

Swimming in North Fork Tule River, miles of hiking trails on ranch. River Ridge Ranch goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elevation. Hike right on the ranch. We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee).
Choose from individual tent sites, group tent sites, tiny cabins. the 5-acre Compound or the Entire Ranch.
We occasionally host small, thoughtful, low impact weddings. Please inquire.
There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public.
Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you.
Enjoy: The Kitchen has a 3-burner cooktop, large fridge, microwave, full dishes and utensils and pots and pans with a big washing area in the back. Propane barbecue grill.. There's a River Barn to use as a remote space and Turtle Cove for swimming. Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown at 9 AM - Noon.
Ancestral land of the Foothill Yokuts tribe. Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. We're both biologists, so, just ask us.

Camp SourBerry was an excellent place to spend the evening before beginning my Yosemite adventure. The campsite was clean and the surroundings were beautiful. I also found it to be quiet and the right distance from town…not too far and not too close.
The hosts were friendly, kind, and willing to answer my questions. I also sensed they genuinely cared for my well-being. It was so great to meet them and I would stay there again without any hesitation!

Our group loved the Whole ranch, it was perfect for us. This Ranch is good for groups it already has a Pavilion for gathering. A big Kitchen to cook and store your food… The land is beside a river good for swimming… Restrooms and hit showers are also available… Overall all we have a very good experience… And Gary was very understanding and took very good care of our group.. I would definitely recommend this place.. Thank You Gary!

The Ranch is so well cared for and it shows. Gary is a wonderful steward of the land. We were looking for a peaceful getaway and we found it. The location is convenient and includes everything you need to be comfortable. We're already planning next year's visit.

Chelsea and Wayne were very welcoming and friendly and incredible hosts. They allowed us to feed their baby lambs and see their farm which was the coolest experience! The campsite was very well maintained and had such beautiful views. Walking distance to a weekly farmers market and not far from town in case you need anything from a store but still felt like you were miles and miles away from civilization. Will definitely be our go to when we visit Yosemite!

Had a great experience at Camp SourBerry! Very nice pull through campsite with trees all around and a small meadow right next to visit. We were visited by some pretty cool wild turkeys on the first day. It is only minutes from town, but it feels like miles away. Easy to get to and find as well. I highly recommend!

Private and quiet only 20 minutes from the south entrance to Yosemite. Chelsea was prompt to reply and checked in to see if we needed anything. She even invited us to hold the newborn lambs that were born just that morning!

Stayed 2 nights 20 minutes from south entrance to Yosemite. Set up on a hill with mountain views and it was very quiet. The wildflowers were beautiful. Chelsea was quick to reply and checked in to see if we needed anything.
As a bonus we got to hold their newborn baby lambs!

River Ridge Ranch was everything we could have asked for and more. The crossing of the river to the camping site became an unexpected adventure that truly connected our participants with nature and the water elements. One of the most unforgettable moments was standing in the river, surrounded by the sounds of drums, birds, and the flowing water — a powerful and grounding experience that deeply tied us to the land.
The ranch provided everything we needed, from a well-equipped kitchen space to a gathering and meeting area that felt both whimsical and relaxing. The owner, Gary, made himself available to guide us, presenting clear safety protocols for our group and generously sharing his deep knowledge of the ranch’s conservation efforts and the native plant families thriving there.
I highly recommend River Ridge Ranch for groups or family gatherings seeking connection with nature. Plus, the added security of WiFi access makes it easy for those who may need to check in with home or work without sacrificing the magic of being present in such a natural setting.

We had such a fantastic time here! The location was easy to find thanks to the directions provided, the amenities were nice when we wanted to enjoy the open air, the proximity to town was really helpful when searching for extra supplies, and the location to Yosemite made it very accessible no matter how busy your day is!!
