Although you're staying in one of the rarest historical homes in California, the museum has some great exhibits as well, including an example of a stamp mill which was used to crush gold ore in the era when this cabin was built. > Bear Mountain Golf Course. At 7,000 feet, it's an entirely different game. For those seeking a true wilderness adventure, the San Bernardino Mountains offer spectacular terrain. While the Serranos have called these mountains home for many centuries, Europeans didn't venture into this rugged land till 1850. It's one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) and features scores of steep, challenging peaks, which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west, to huge Yucca forests in the east. 11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The Cabin is right in the middle of the major routes. After a day here, you may find it hard to believe that you're just 100 miles (and perhaps a century) away from Downtown Los Angeles. The public bus stop is a short walk. Surprisingly, it is possible to take public transit from any train station in SoCal all the way to our bus stop (and vice versa). The Place is absolutely gorgeous. Very clean and private with great parking spots for non 4X4 vehicles. Port potty was clean. You can park your vehicle on the shore although I wouldn’t advise it for non 4X4 vehicles. The only con I would say is that it’s so close to the street that you can hear the cars go by but it was okay. There is everything you need in 5 minute drive radius, so don’t worry if you forget anything. The host is super friendly and responsive. Definitely coming back again.

Such a cool sight with just the right amount of amenities to make for a great casual camping experience. The road up is no joke and you got to be unafraid to get up a dirt road that goes up quickly, but our cars could do it, even when we came in at night. Caleb was great and communicative and we will definitley coming back for the next time do our retreat, the amphitheater so well positioned and the town at night was beautiful to look at. Great sunrises and sunsets too!

Great place, peaceful, beautiful, well maintained, and clean none toxic cookware! Haha I know that’s a funny thing to be excited about but as a cook I love stainless steel and all were stainless steel, also master bed and pillows very comfortable, Tempur-Pedic I believe. Lots of stairs, so just be aware we brought our elder dog and was a little tricky for him to navigate; but other than that, host replied quickly to all questions and highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to The Engels Nest Fall Leaves!

The cabin is so cute and easy to find/access! It was less than a 5 minute drive from the lake and there were lots of trails nearby. The trails were a bit tricky to navigate with little signage so we didn't venture too far but the views were still great. I would recommend bringing essentials (shampoo, body wash, coffee) but the cabin had pots, pans, toaster, dishes, etc. I would definitely recommend this cabin for a relaxing slow paced weekend away!

Amazing! Absolutely loved our stay! Beautiful views and we felt safe. The traffic and people noise from the property across the the street was a bit loud late into the night but not noticeable until trying to fall asleep, all the other great stuff out weighed that by a mile! The private dock was a bonus treat, the cleanest port-a-potty I’ve ever been in, and super grateful for the ease in communication with Ed when I had a question about locking up before leaving. We will be back!!

The village of Green Valley Lake is sleepy and cute, especially mid-week. This cabin is a great place to go and get a reset from the noise and bustle of city life. We loved playing board games, paddling on the lake, grilling on the balcony and looking at the stars. The cabin is clean and comfy, with nice beds, linen, and towels. Would love to return!
