Located just 10 mins outside of Garberville in a redwood valley, we offer two glamping sites that have everything you need to enjoy nature in style. One of the sites is called The Orchard. You can drive your car right up to. The other requires climbing stairs to the top of a hill. We call that one The Knoll. About us: We are 4 adults who have lived on this land growing our own food and medicine for over 20 years. Our land is off-grid, but we have a robust solar and hydro energy system. We take great pride in stewarding this beautiful land and farm responsibly and would love the opportunity to show it off to you. We are also happy to share our secrets on the best forest hikes, the best swimming holes, the best beaches, the best restaurants and anything else you would like to know about Humboldt.House rules: Smoking is permitted but nowhere near or in the tent. Fires are only permitted during the wet season.For everyone's safety, we do not allow outside pets on the farm.

Nestled in a magical valley along Dutch Henry Creek, Shimmerback Ranch is a working farm and queer land community, with whom guests may share common facilities such as the kitchen and bathhouse. We're proponents of plant medicine and are known to throw an occasional dance party in the woods. Shimmerback Ranch is clothing optional/body positive, which means you can be naked if you want. We are respectful and inclusive of all people, and we expect the same of our guests. We have two land dogs, Lola and Jenny, friendly and rambunctious pit mixes. Please note that while our road can be challenging for some 2WD vehicles (though most do just fine), we're happy to shuttle guests in using our land truck. Shimmerback Ranch is perfectly situated an hour south of the Avenue of the Giants redwood groves, an hour from the stunning Mendocino coast, less than an hour from Mendocino's famed wineries, and just two easy hours from the Golden Gate Bridge.

We offer off-grid and mostly offline farmstay retreats at our self-reliant, educational, permaculture farm. We are a digital detox environment and welcome guests who are looking to unplug and recharge. A farm tour on arrival is included.
Guests are invited to help with gardening, animal chores, food preservation, and other farm activities Monday thru Friday from 9-noon. Information on self-reliance, living off the grid, and farming knowledge is shared while participating in morning farm activities.
A farm meal prepared from our gardens is included in the booking and served at 1PM. There are options for a variety of dietary preferences.
All accommodations have been custom build by Munro. Much of the lumber comes from trees on the the land and is hand milled and planed giving each cabin the warm beauty of natural wood.
All guests are invited to enjoy the wood fired sauna, meditation grove, forest hikes and swimming on Van Duzen river.
The property is gated. You must text the host before arriving to confirm plans a minimum of 2 days before arriving. Munro 707-572-8200. Limited cell service in the area, communicate ahead. Host generally meets guests at Swain's Flat Outpost and Garden Center, around mile marker 20, on highway 36.
