There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”.

It is on this property that I saw my first grouse. Also look for warblers-notably Audubon's and the Hermit Warblers- along with the White-headed Woodpecker. The Sugarpine has the longest cones in the world and many birds and mammals like the pine nuts and use the tree for habitat. This is a spring through fall place only. There is no winter access. The property is at 5800 feet.  Depending on the weather the road may close from Nov 15th to May 15th.  The road on the property is a dirt road.  All wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended although the lower section could be accessed by most vehicles. Shorter trailers allowed at Site A. Site 3 can also accommodate a small teardrop-style trailer The property is totally undeveloped at this time. It is a wildlife corridor for deer and bear (keep all food contained), the mountain quail and the blue grouse. Keep your eyes open for the Hermit Warbler, Audubon's Warbler, and our gorgeous visitor from the tropics the Western Tanager. You are likely to hear the Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see it and its red crest in an undulating flight through the trees. The property has a lovely west facing slope which climbs gradually at first then more steeply to the top of the property. We have drive-in camping on the lower section.  There is one walk-in site at the top of the property. There is wonderful hiking nearby with several trailheads in the area within approximately 4 miles.  More information can be provided upon request.

Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos. Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private. The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land. However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers ) Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!! •Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed. •Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Welcome to Homestead Hideaway, an off-grid home site adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest. A mile and a half down a dirt road and 20 minutes to downtown Nevada City. Easy access to the Yuba River, Scotts Flat Lake, world class mountain biking trails, and rock climbing off Bowman lake road. Homestead Hideaway is a six acres of secluded forest living. Its home to an array of wildlife including owls, foxes, bears, coyote and dear as well as an abundance of trees and flora. The property is also our home. We, along with our dogs, live in the green Quonset hut that you will drive past on your way in. We steward the land and live simply to reduce our impact on this wild place. At 3,600ft and amongst the trees, you can expect much milder temperatures than in Nevada City- making for a pleasant respite during the heat of summer. Little Dear Creek is a 5 minute walk and has bathtub size pools to soak in. The yurt was made locally by Living Intent Yurt Co and installed in 2021. Inside you will find two twin beds that can be combined to make a king, a giant pillow lounge, dining table, games, and some tableware for eating and drinking. Attached to the yurt is a large heptagonal deck perfect for lounging and yoga. On the deck there is a foot-pump sink for handwashing and dishes, a counter for cooking and a propane BBQ. There is no electricity or traditional running water and plumbing. Expect a rustic camping experience with the luxury of a new yurt to stay in. This means no electricity, no shower and a simple compost toilet in an outhouse. There will be a 55 gallon drum full of water for the foot-pump sink to wash your hands and dishes. Pack out your trash and leave food scraps in the compost.

Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos. Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private. The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land. However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers ) Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!! •Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed. •Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Black stone grill outside. Fire pit , check if fires are allowed during booking •Separate bathroom with compost toilet or a short walk to outhouse. Outdoor shower in the making, message if available. FUN: •Lake Spaulding is about 1/4 mile hike down from the property. There is a boat launch and plenty of room to park it on the property if you want to bring a boat. Also have two paddle boards you are welcome to use. Rivers/lakes/swimming holes: •emerald pools, crystal clear water , cliff jumping , waterfalls . 10 minute drive •south yuba river 5-15 minutes depending on the spot (ask for recommendations ) •bowman lake road connects to several lakes . 10 minute drive •lake valley reservoir , 10 minute drive •donner lake, rent kayaks, paddle boards or a boat. 20 minutes • eagle lakes rd swimming hole about 5 minutes •truckee, the cutest town with fun shops, restaurants and bars, 25 minutes . Welcome to Homestead Hideaway, an off-grid home site adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest. A mile and a half down a dirt road and 20 minutes to downtown Nevada City. Easy access to the Yuba River, Scotts Flat Lake, world class mountain biking trails, and rock climbing off Bowman lake road. Homestead Hideaway is a six acres of secluded forest living. Its home to an array of wildlife including owls, foxes, bears, coyote and dear as well as an abundance of trees and flora. The property is also our home. We, along with our dogs, live in the green Quonset hut that you will drive past on your way in. We steward the land and live simply to reduce our impact on this wild place. At 3,600ft and amongst the trees, you can expect much milder temperatures than in Nevada City- making for a pleasant respite during the heat of summer. Little Dear Creek is a 5 minute walk and has bathtub size pools to soak in. The yurt was made locally by Living Intent Yurt Co and installed in 2021. Inside you will find two twin beds that can be combined to make a king, a giant pillow lounge, dining table, games, and some tableware for eating and drinking. Attached to the yurt is a large heptagonal deck perfect for lounging and yoga. On the deck there is a foot-pump sink for handwashing and dishes, a counter for cooking and a propane BBQ. There is no electricity or traditional running water and plumbing. Expect a rustic camping experience with the luxury of a new yurt to stay in. This means no electricity, no shower and a simple compost toilet in an outhouse. There will be a 55 gallon drum full of water for the foot-pump sink to wash your hands and dishes. Pack out your trash and leave food scraps in the compost.

Find privacy, seclusion and solitude in nature at Alpine Valley Camp /|\. Encompassed by Tahoe & Toiyabe National Forests, this Alpine Valley rolls across 10,000 acres at approximately 5,500 feet with towering mountainous peaks on three of its sides rising above 8,000 feet. A meadow with creeks and wildlife lines the Valley floor. Depending on location, distant peaks in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range rise into view. The private and secluded Camp sits at the edge of the meadow on 40 acres. It offers multiple sites for vista viewing, camping and fire pits set along two seasonal creeks. Available for one camping party's exclusive use, basic camping comforts include picnic tables, metal and stone fire pits, and an out house with a view. Follow the lower creek out from the Camp into the meadow and Valley floor to find a damned swimming hole. Off-road vehicles, dirt bikes, hiking, fishing, water sports, golf, skeet, and the like are available at or near the Camp, as is LTE cellphone and data services. Alpine Valley Campsite is a short distance to Reno, Truckee, Stampede and Boca Reservoirs, and Lake Tahoe. It is located approx. 4.5 miles from Stampede Reservoir, 5.4 miles from the Truckee River in Verdi, and 17 miles from the Boca Reservoir and Truckee River in Truckee. Host highly recommends 4x4/AWD vehicle OR at least 7" of ground clearance, driving slow on dirt and rocky roads (approximately a 25-minute drive from entrance of Toiabye National Forest-Verdi, CA entrance at 5-10 mph), and experience with pack-in, pack-out camping. Detailed welcome letter with local destinations, GPS coordinates, Valley map and links provided upon booking. Nightly rate is for up to two campers; any camping party is limited to eight (8) campers and each additional camper is assessed a guest fee of $44/nt If you'd like to collect wood from the property, simply purchase a bundle of wood when completing your booking.
