Only a mile and a half away, Pine Cove boasts considerably more snow in the winter because of its almost thousand foot rise in elevation in that short distance. Our 16-foot geodesic dome was built on a secluded portion of the property. This is a studio with a queen bed and a sofa bed that folds out to a full size bed. Please note this is truly a glamping experience but we have done our best to offer some amenities and make it as comfortable as possible. This is perfect for a couple or small family looking for a luxury camping experience. We are a short 5-minute drive to downtown Idyllwild. There are hiking trails within walking distance from the property. Or choose to get away from it all with a peaceful visit to Moon Pine Cabin. Immerse yourself amongst the trees in this cozy cabin with multi-level views that can be enjoyed from the sweeping deck perched in the trees or the elevated yoga deck, off of the master bedroom. Relish the quiet seclusion where you and your loved ones can soak up the forest without ever having to leave the property. Glamp Site Offerings: Grill and grill utensils, sink with running water, shower with hot water, composting toilet, cups, plates and basic silverware, small yeti cooler. ***This stay is non-refundable. Of all the world's oceans, Jacques Cousteau favored the Sea of Cortez, calling it "The Aquarium of the World." His favorite body of water is the panorama you'll enjoy through two walls of glass in this expansive home. Stunning views...empty white-sand beaches...ultra-clear skies. And the only sounds you're likely to hear are the gentle surf and ocean breezes. There's really no other place like Baja California. This land has changed little since Fernando Cortés first saw it in 1533. And dawn over the sea begins each day in spectacular fashion. Our huge front room combines living, dining, and kitchen into one 700-square-foot space, with four sets of doors which open to a broad Spanish-style veranda. Spend the day reading in lounge chairs, mixing a drink or two at the hand-carved bar, or walking on miles of secluded beach. The kitchen area offers 20 feet of counter space, while a massive wooden dining table easily accommodates your entire group for memorable meals. Our home overlooks the beach in this area. * Biologically speaking, the Sea of Cortez is the richest body of water on the planet. This diverse sea supports more than 900 varieties of fish, and more than 2,000 species of marine invertebrates. * Spring water is trucked in, and stored in a 1,000-gallon tank. The first tanks of water and propane are included. If a water refill is required, you pay the $50. The cost of a propane refill is about $20. * There is no landline phone, but we do have wifi, and most cell phones work. * Note that Baja can be HOT, especially from mid-June through the end of August. In Summer, typical temperatures are high 90s or low 100s during the day, and 70s to 80s at night. * Pets are welcome. * Please smoke on the veranda — never inside. * Sheets are provided for the three beds. You should bring bath and beach towels, as well as your favorite toiletries. * Kitchenware is provided, but if you're particular, you may want to bring your favorite gear. * There’s a small tabletop BBQ grill, and a big old one. * A 600-square-foot garage with RV doors may be available at extra cost with advance arrangements -- but there's plenty of easy parking outdoors on approx. 1 1/2 acres. * If you have kids, please note that the bluff in front of the house is about 30 feet above the beach. * The closest path to the beach is in the arroyo just south of the house. There is also another road to the beach which begins about 150 feet above the entrance to the property. The beach itself is fine sand, and deep in places. Motorcycles and ATVs are welcome. For four-wheeled vehicles, 4WD is essential. * Kayaks and other small watercraft can be launched easily from the beach. Kitesurfing is popular. Be aware of the tides! The Gulf of California has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, and at low tide, the ocean recedes far from the beach for a few hours. * PWCs and boats on trailers can also be launched from the beach. A 4WD tow vehicle is essential. Again, be aware of the tides. * There is a wood-burning fireplace. * There are large supermarkets in central San Felipe (such as Calimax, on the main drag). You can get fresh food and everything else you might need at reasonable prices. * Wheelchair access to the home is fairly easy. The showers are very large, but otherwise of standard design. * There can be dogs roaming free, but we've never seen an aggressive one. You may also encounter a mosquito or two, little desert critters, etc. * Snowbird? Looking for a long-term retreat? Low rates are available to quality candidates.

We have recently given the entire cabin a fresh remodel! It’s even more cozy than before complete with new kitchen, vaulted wood beam ceilings, fresh flooring and lots of Pendelton blankets! You will LOVE IT! Been coming to this magical part of the San bernardino mountains since I was a little girl. I learned to ski here when there was an old ski hill and tow ropes! Lots of mountain trails to hit! My Father and Grandfather both spent time here and nothing has changed! We just recently remodeled our little slice of heaven! It is single story with all open beam ceilings, wood floors throughout and hiking right out the door to miles and miles of trails! Stunning sunsets, a cute town with lots of live music. You will fall in Love with Green Valley Lake!

We loved all of the interactions with the animals! My girls (ages 7 and 9) had a great time with the goats, alpaca, dogs, pigs! We added in the animal encounter experience because we weren't sure we were going to see any animal otherwise and it was a great upgrade because we also were able to visit and learn about the chickens!

Goat heaven...the camp was fantastic for humans as well. Our son loved the goats, pig and llama! We played hide and seek in the rocks with the goats and even had a hot shower. They have put lots of love into this place and even had loads of special details (like organic treats at the camp shop!). Couldn't have been happier!!!

Excellent location, clean and level sites, and truly first-rate amenities, such that you would NEVER find at government (or most private) campgrounds. Even with a basic tent setup (just always have a good mattress/bedding) it's way better than "glamping," as you have two comfy patio chairs, table, and electricity at your site, and access to an exceptionally clean and modern shared indoor space with everything you really need at home (a shower that may well be an upgrade from your home, fridge, microwave, dining table/area, coffee, tv, etc. . . and I doubt you're yurt or souped-up vintage camper rental comes with the most comfortable electric reclining sofa you've ever sat on). If you think all these comforts take away from the "camping'" vibe/aspect, then just rough it to your preference at your site/tent. No one will force you to stream your favorite TV show while reclining in the most comfortable position ever, if you're bored and can't sleep right away . . . The host couldn't be more friendly and helpful. 6 Stars out of 5!

We had a nice weekend at Holcomb ranch. The property is kept up very well, safe, clean and peaceful. At check in, Ed called ahead with detailed directions to the site. There are markers on the trees identifying the sites making it super easy. The sites are large enough to have a nice distance from neighbors. Overall, we had a great time and will be back.

My first time using Hipcamp and a little apprehensive. Could not have chosen a more wonderful location. Starters, Jacob has one heck of a concept. The location is set on an organic farm between the trees and natural flora. The A-frame that I stayed in was simple yet exquisite. The whole one side opens up, so that it creates an awning over the small deck attached to that side. So peaceful and quiet. The A-frame I stayed in had no electricity which added to the experience. privacy YES. The kitchen is a professional stocked kitchen placed outside covered by corrugated galvanized steel. with a sitting area. All you have to bring is the groceries. Also has a wood fired open. Beautifully set up. Bathrooms are designed for an out door experience. A vanity between the porcelain commodes. Vanity is nice Fully stocked. Each commode is private. And behind this is an outdoor shower. Now that's an intoxicating experience. you want to stay showering for hours. Met Jacob and Gertie. Jacob is just a down to earth guy enjoying life with his companion. Gertie is a sweetheart!!! ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE EXPERIENCE !! Will be returning.

Me and my 2 kids loved our stay at the Dragonfly Inn. The views from the house were absolutely stunning. My kids loved the loft, they turned it into a hideout for themselves during our stay. Everything was very neat and clean. Loved everything about the inn. Using the fire-pit, and stargazing at night was the highlight of the stay. Martin was a great host. He was very attentive to all our requests and responded to our inquiries very promptly. Already recommended to few other friends!

I loved the whole experience! The host is very nice and asked how we were doing and if we needed anything when we met her at the store both days we stayed. I must say that the cute van is more for a couple only. I went with my two daughters, as Hipcamp allowed to reserve for 3 people and I thought there was space for three. The host offered to move somewhere else but we decided to stay there because we arrived late and we are tiny anyways lol. It’s very private! Toilet accesible 2 minutes walk, not so far away. The site has its own fire pit, so it was perfect for a s’mores night :) we added the e-bike experience and went around the property for 1.5 hours. It was beautiful to bike before the sunset! Also, we enjoyed some time with the goats and alpaca that were chilling by the camp store. They go everywhere and they are very friendly! Also the two dogs are super friendly. You can see Jackrabbits and many different birds. If you like animals and nature and going off grid, this is your place to go :)

Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s). The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents. From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). On my 60 acres, there are no major roads going through or next to the property. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive and avocado groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base is nearby, so you might hear some artillery in the distance on some occasions. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and propane fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets. I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim. The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.

Our family has owned this property for nearly fifty years. We currently have one site available - “Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook” - at this time. More sites coming soon! Learn more about this site: This campsite is extremely private and serene with beautiful epic views and a wide open feel. The site is located most of the way up a small mountain but at the base of a larger one if you want to hike up to the top for even better views. You can also hike down and around to explore more of the surrounding nature preserve (over 3,000 acres completely engulfing our 20 acre property), which includes a seasonal creek, granite boulders, and miles of hiking trails. You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The campsite is set far back from roads so it is very peaceful and quiet and allows you to feel free to enjoy yourselves without worrying much about noise. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional. Also, the site is still a work in progress so there may be some lumber and areas of the site still in the process of being completed.

This land was homesteaded by a Swiss woman, who called it home from 1915 until 1988. Step onto the broad wooden Star Deck, and you're looking at an alpine forest which has changed little since the Serrano Indians first arrived here 3,000 years ago. There are no homes visible -- and immediately adjacent to your camping spot, you'll find the trails of the San Bernardino National Forest, winding through hundreds of square miles of pure nature. This property is quiet night and day, the perfect break from harried city life. The only sounds you're likely to hear are wind through the trees, and birds which glide from tree to tree. While the Serranos have called these mountains home for many centuries, Europeans didn't venture into this rugged land till 1850. It's one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) and features scores of steep, challenging peaks, which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west, to huge Yucca forests in the east. 11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Mojave rivers offer premier wild trout streams such as Bear Creek, accessible only by foot. Hundreds of miles of unpaved National Forest roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable (11 Difficults, six Most Difficults). The Cabin is right in the middle of the major routes. After a day here, you may find it hard to believe that you're just 100 miles (and perhaps a century) away from Downtown Los Angeles.
