4 nights at Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite

This was awesome! View of stars at night and sunrise in the morning from inside was incredible. Their bathhouse was very clean. 1 hour from Yosemite valley, but seemed like almost any accommodation outside the park was the same drive time. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Yosemite and recommend to friends!

Weekend Trip to Strange Ranch - River and Gold

Absolutely great time at strange ranch! The property itself feels very private and relaxing with beautiful views and a great river to swim and explore. All the campsites we saw were very clean and well maintained. Terry does an amazing job communicating and really provided a lot of great information before we even arrived. We stayed at site #1 right above the river. You can expect great views, a picnic table, metal fire pit, wash basin with faucet, hose, portable toilet, and a short walk down the stairs to the river. Terry told us before arriving how sunny our site would be so we brought a 10x10 pop up canopy and we were good to go!

Camping on Terry’s property was an excellent experience for my two friends and I. We highly recommend the aquatic invertebrate experience - Terry is extremely knowledgeable and it was so fun! We hope to be coming back to this beautiful land sooner rather than later! Very safe and peaceful.

We loved camping at the Painted Lakes! Jeremy and Michelle were great communicating before and during our stay making sure we had the best time on their property. The site has lots of space for setting up camp and relaxing among the trees and animals. Loved walking to the lake and kayaking. It is a quiet piece of paradise. Great setup with a gas grill, gas fire pit, and an outdoor couch on turf.

Great views and a perfect mini glamp before we ended our road trip. Location was central to the park and shower access was great!

Cole Ranch was everything I hoped it would be! Very nice campground with all the things you might need: super nice bathrooms, showers, kitchen, fridge, access to kayaks,canoes,paddle boards, floats, life jackets. This place looks like it’s straight out of a camping magazine, sites sit right on the river bank. This place was very well maintained and the owner such a pleasure. He met us upon check in to show us around and offer some tips. We will most def be back to this place and hopefully be able to stay a little longer. Loved every minute

3 nights at Diamond Gulch

John is a great host, checked in on us daily. There's firewood available, which is great. Not really assigned spaces, so you can pick a spot that suits your needs. Garbage cans, recycling, water and showers were all nearby. It's important to keep the gates shut so the cows don't come into the campsite. We had a great view of the moon & stars and being right in Groveland got us into Yosemite easily. Just to mention CA 120 is quite a curvy road with a large incline. We would definitely stay with John again.

Beautiful views, quiet, and lovely animals all around. Easy drive to Yosemite and the hot showers are wonderful. The owner is very kind and helpful, and takes great pride in his land. I loved meeting his little dog Molly. Highly recommended!

Site 24 was extremely fun to stay at with it being so close to the water as well as very peaceful at night, it was extremely easy and convenient to set my reservation and I would definitely reccomend the campsite to any frequent camper.

Very near to the charming Groveland town with municipal park, restaurants and grocery store, well stocked with all things required. Loads of free firewood was provided. Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

We had some major adventures here at Red Tail Ranch in the RV spaces #1 and #2 (which to my knowledge may be the only "RV" zoned spaces at the time of this review. My wife and I were in #1 with our 35' Brinkley Model i 294 Travel Trailer for your reference. There was ample room for our truck as well as additional front patio space which overlooked a nice meadow. My friend was in #2 with his 25' Jayco SLX. There are sewer hook ups in site #1 only, though both #1 and #2 both have electrical and water. The water was great and the electrical hook ups did not have any issues while we were there. I used my 50 Amp Service and my friend who was in #2 used his 30 Amp and both were great. Both sites are back in and #2 is much easier to back into if you are not super skilled in backing in. We met Robb who is one of the owners here. He was so nice and friendly! We had a failure of one of our brakes while we were there. Robb was so accommodating in our time of need. He allowed us to stay in one site an additional day and though he had someone coming in the next day he found some additional space we could move to (without hook ups) in case the mechanic couldn't get us moving before check in time! What a super great person! We will be back again when we come to Yosemite next time. Super easy in and out and close to the gate to Yosemite!

Heart Valley ranch hosts 300+ acres of rolling pasture nestled along the beautiful Jackass Creek. Access to Yosemite via 120 takes 1 hour , Groveland 10 minutes, and Coulterville 5 minutes. You’ll find cows, goats, chickens, llamas and our two beloved livestock dogs on the property. Many pools to cool off in and sweeping sunset views from the highest point on the property. There is lots of nature to enjoy including bird watching, seasonal wildflowers, and other wild animals. We welcome all ❤️🌈 We highly recommend not bringing any animals, including service animals. We have two livestock guardian dogs that free roam the property and they are not friendly with other animals. IMPORTANT!!! This year, water levels are lower than usual due to limited rainfall. As a result, the swimming hole may be dry and closed starting in early July. We recommend planning accordingly and checking back here for updates as the season progresses. Historical Columbia Campground

This beautiful tucked away land near the heart of Columbia has plenty of flat land for Tent camping and RV parking . There are picnic tables and a wash station available. The only bathroom is an outhouse. No RV Hookups available. There is also a 1/4 mile nature trail on site for quick walks. Throughout the day you'll see and hear Bluejays, woodpeckers, doves and so many other birds, the occasionally turkey and deer will swing through as well. In the spring/summer you'll see some of the most amazing sunsets. Scottie's Motofarm

Aimed at providing a comfortable, convenient and safe facility for tourists to spend the night and refresh, Scottie's Motofarm boasts multiple lush green lawns for tent camping, many shade trees, clean and civilized indoor toilet facilities with a locking door, free wifi, a private walk-in shower/changing room large enough for two people with a locking door, outlets for phone charging, laundry washing machine (no dryer) and kitchen food prep area with fridge. Propane and briquette BBQ, fire pit, city water safe for drinking, plenty of parking. We are conveniently located on Route 4 so campers should expect some noise, however the road quiets down around at night and -- except for the occasional loud vehicle -- it gets pretty serene here during the star gazing hours! The tent camping area is fenced and we have not had any bears on the property, but we do have a few shy farm cats and the occasional racoon. For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road.

We do not know the history very well. Fires have ravaged the country there for years and left many of the hills in recent secondary brush growth from the last fires. Up on top of the property where you drive in, pastures and older oaks are established. The old homestead cabin and root cellar are pre 1900, but the property has lots of 1849+ gold rush stream mounds and mines which we do not know much about at all. We purchased the ranch in 2001 from a Swiss rancher, Otto Gilser who had the property from the 1950s. There are acorn grinding pits in the big rocks below the frog pond from the first nation people who first lived there. Bob and Zane McDow, who lease the grazing rights and live on the property are the real deal, incredibly colorful locals, great story tellers with a ton of hilarious and hair raising tales to tell. Bob is a cowboy who still can do it all, raises cattle, horses, goats, ropes, brands and rides, hunter and fisherman, bulldozer sculptor, chain saw master, master house, cabin, barn, fence, gate, water systems builder, and a hard drinker, dancer and partier... he knows Yosemite and the back country like no other. Bob still runs cattle on 6-9 ranches at once and moves them with the feed. Bob and Zane are treasures and if you get to have a conversation with them you are lucky!
