Located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Gold Country~ 15 min from Grass Valley, Nevada City or Colfax. There is the 'MUST SEE' yuba river nearby neavada city and grass valley, Greenhorn creek that runs into Rollins Lake very close to the property. Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

The best vacation rental in Nevada City! Creekfront designer cabin on 8 acres with hot tub. The private creek is year-round and perfect for dipping on a hot day. There is a large fire pit, horseshoes, and a hammock by the creek. Seclusion and quietude in nature yet 4 minutes to downtown Nevada City, 15 min to rivers & lakes, and 45 min to ski resorts. This is the place for people who are tired of rentals that lack amenities or aesthetic quality. This is also a non-toxic, eco-friendly sanctuary. There are four bedrooms in the main house and an optional separate studio to rent. The main house has two bedrooms with king beds, one bedroom with a twin bed and a twin air mattress (if needed), and an enclosed den with a queen murphy bed. This allows 8 people to sleep comfortably. There are 3 bathrooms, one with a lux freestanding soaking tub with forest views. For 9-11 guests, or if you just want extra space for a smaller party, you can rent the separate studio for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee. This is discounted from our regular rates of $210 for 3 people and $188 for 2 people, and our regular cleaning rate of $140. The studio is beautifully renovated with a queen bed, full kitchen, bathroom, and living area with sofa for a child or young adult to sleep on. The main house kitchen is fully equipped-- this is not like other rentals that lack wine glasses or cooking pans! We have a Ninja blender, instant pot/slow cooker, toaster, French press coffee maker, coffee grinder, lots of dishes and utensils, state of the art drinking water filtration system, gas oven and stove, baking dishes and pans, and more. You'll also be provided with organic cooking oil and organic spices. The owner specializes in non-toxic home design so everything from the mattresses and bedding to the soap & shampoo are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and/or organic. You have complete reign of the 8 acre property, including the hot tub, and private creekfront park with gazebo, fire pit, and horseshoe pit. Sometimes we rent out a studio on the property (or you can rent it-- see details above), but studio guests do not have access to acres of the property that are just for you, so the hot tub, fire pit, gazebo, horse shoe pit, and more is yours. If you want total privacy, we can block out the studio from being rented for an additional $75/night, or you can rent it for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee (see details above). Pack and play, twin air bed, and dining table booster seat with tray are available! Please just request them before you arrive, and bring your own sheet for the pack and play. Air bed is usually needed if 8 guests are staying in the main home (if studio is not rented). It can snow in Nevada City in the winter (beginning in December or January and through March). If staying here when it snows, you will need snow chains and/or a 4WD vehicle to access the home. No parties or events, and please ask if you want to invite anyone to the home who is not in the guest count at booking. We love dogs and do not discriminate against breeds! Weekend Trip to Frolic Pond Cabin

The cabin was very cozy and the scenery was beautiful. It was near a lot of wonderful hiking trails and a cute town. It was the perfect mix of secluded but not totally isolated and even though it was cold, the cabin is a converted sauna and got very toasty with a fire.

4 nights at Scottlan's LostDeer Lodge

The cabin is just like my home with the usual amenities, yet has the added benefit of being out in nature. It is very close to Hwy 80, so no guesswork of where to find it. The bathroom/shower, the firm bed, the great kitchen/dining nook layout and the living room all make for a very comfortable stay. My pup and I enjoyed exploring the 'hood; I saw only one person during my four day/three night visit, so the remoteness and quiet away from suburbia was most welcome. Krysten was most responsive to my questions. Will visit, again, for sure.

Weekend Trip to Frolic Pond Cabin

The Nest on Frolic Meadows was fantastic. It is very bare bones, but provided everything we needed and was exactly what we were looking for. There is no electricity or WiFi signal, so be prepared to get off grid and just enjoy the serenity of nature. There is a compostable toilet just right up the path, close to the cabin, which was totally fine. There was a cute little tree frog that I had to move away when using it. You will be in nature here, so you will also have to appreciate all the wildlife around you. Speaking of wildlife, there were over 16 species of birds in the area that my Merlin app picked up. There is a small area for storage in the unit that is separate from the sleeping area. The double or queen bed was enough space for my 11-year old and me to sleep comfortably. We brought blankets, but it was so hot this past weekend that we didn’t really need them. The cabin cooled off nicely at night with the sleeping area window open. Matia was a great communicator and made the directions very clear; it was easy to find, and I am glad we did! The pond right out the door from the cabin provided; it had a nice temperature for swimming and it was good fishing. There were both large mouth bass and bluegills. In our short stay, we caught two bass and three bluegills. There is only one other property bordering the pond. There were some folks enjoying it, but only for a couple hours. For the most part, we had the whole place to ourselves. Highly recommended!

This was such a pleasant getaway for my family and I. It was serene and quiet. Dog Friendly also!! Emily was responsive and a great host. Had everything we needed and more. The walk to the creek is a nice morning and evening walk. Would definitely book again :)

We are speechless! This property was above and beyond what we expected. You have private access to acres and acres of land, including a private stream and private section of the yuba River. It was absolutely peaceful and divine. We ate delicious fruit and veggies from the garden. We are already talking about coming back again!

Weekend Trip to Honey River - The Hearth

Was a great experience, we lived in the lap of luxury. Justin had made his home into a beautiful spa day in the woods. He was very responsive to all our questions, the accommodations were clean, cozy and very comfortable, the hot tub was divine, and we were nearby a beautiful collection of hiking and swimming spots along the Yuba River. 5 stars!!
