Just 10 minutes off the freeway, a variety of simple thoughtfully laid out sites afford comfy car and tent camping or smaller RVs and vans, with ample privacy. At an elevation just under 3000 feet, the Ridge gets lots of sun, with cold nights and hot days in winter and summer respectively. This is a drier climate between May - October meaning some risk of smoke impacts from area forests, although the mountainside location generally offers clean fresh air with stunning sunsets and excellent stargazing. Best to arrive in daylight to orient and take in the scene! Count on fair to good cell service, limited central wifi and power. The land contains over a mile of trails with vistas, rock features, gnarly old "bonsai" oak trees, native plants and wildflowers. Your stay here directly supports ongoing conservation, watershed protection and fire mitigation work around the site, inquire if curious! Wildlife is prolific, mostly the friendly sort however visitors should be mindful to avoid unwelcome encounters, and any small children or pets kept under close watch. We have our own fresh water springs..cool nights with 1 million stars. No lights touch our prairie. Lake of the Woods is 10 minutes away but we are on Howard lake and just down the road from Hyatt Lake and The Cove Restaurant. Best hamburgers, pizzas, Vegetarian food to be had. Our riding pastures back up to Lilly Glenn Equestrian Park. Our barn is equipped to board up to 8 horses.. We are a Ranch in rehabbing mode but are ready for campers who can come and share our vision. Hopefully start a tradition.. Hideouts HipCamp Review I loved this place! Partly the location and partly the very nice people there. About the location: it's not for everyone,; it is a bit of a drive including 5 miles on a scrabble road that is fine. But you get out and away from everyone and into a beautiful spot with a great view. It’s also rather rustic that I like that soon they will have a bath house and it’ll be different. There’s an example of how they were nice to me: I am 72 years old and have some mobility issues. they were very cognizant of it and helped me get around a little bit. That was very sweet. I would come back every year if I could.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen better views from a camp spot. Completely epic views, make sure to ask the hosts about the lookout spot from the nearby top of the mountain - stunning. There’s also a nearby hike to a gorgeous waterfall, definitely plan an afternoon for that!

There is absolutely nothing like waking up to mountain sunrises, and taking a dip in the cool creek after hiking on a hot day. This place is very special, and it's not just due to the breathtaking views. It's also because of the people there whose goal is to make it feel like both home and a new adventure all at once. This spot is definitely a hidden gem! From incredible star-gazing to a beautiful sunrise, this spot is perfect for the view-seekers. Kat and her partner were such gracious hosts, thinking of the little things to help make us comfortable. They made themselves available if we needed anything throughout our stay as well. They have a little piece of heaven tucked away in the mountains of southern Oregon and they’re dedicated to making it as special as possible! Getting to the Hipcamp is a little tricky even with detailed instructions so definitely give yourself time to get there as they are still working to perfect the off-grid navigation.

I loved camping on Ben's land! The view was incredible. The site was easy and flat. The trails were cool to explore with my dog. The stars were beautiful. The treehouse-like outhouse was a unique treat. It's off I-5 half way from Portland to San Francisco, so it's a perfect place to break up the ride. It's way up in the hills, a world apart.
