Really enjoyed staying here. It was totally off the beaten track and very peaceful (bar the occasional train you don’t really hear any manmade sounds at all). I don’t think we could have camped any closer to the national park. Having cows as neighbours made for a pleasant addition. I would very happily stay here again - and may well do so, as more of the park to be visited.

We loved this spot!! Beautiful wide open space with a nice table / overhang, bathroom and some fun yard games. And we were so glad to be right near Petrified Forest National Park. It was a bit tricky to get there, but Ken talked us through every step and even spent extra time setting up alternative paths (it had rained) and putting out reflective poles so we could find our way. We really, really appreciated his extra care and hospitality and would love to stay again next time we're in the area! To note, if it's rained recently, we would recommend a high clearance / 4-wheel drive vehicle, but if conditions are dry, we hear you can navigate the road in a Prius!

The directions were very easy to follow! The road is a bit bumpy in some areas so a high clearance car is what I would recommend, but our 2WD sprinter did just fine! The property was very private and quiet, and my daughter loved seeing the all the cows. The cherry on top was the ending the night with one of the prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Weekend Trip to Lancelot desert camping

Nani was a remarkable host. Her land is quiet, clean and very pretty. She took the time to drive and meet us and escorted us to her campground. Each spot has a fire pit, picnic table and pad for tents. A really cute outhouse is in between the sites. She has built everything herself, which is quite impressive. She's a carpenter. I do want to note that it is a 9.5 mile drive down a non paved road. It is very ruddy and washboard. We've been boondocking for 7 years and have been on some challenging roads. But, if you are somewhat inexperienced or have a vehicle that isn't equipped for it, you should be aware before attempting. However, it was definitely worth the stay. Beautiful property, very kind hostess and super quiet.

It was awesome! Know what you are getting into though. This is bare bones, don't expect luxury amenities. What you're getting is some distance between you and the city. And a great view of the stars. This is all about the nighttime sky. The tent is WELL protected from the wind and cold. Tent comes with a few items like a lamp, a space heater, book with local information. A bench outside, a table and two chair inside the tent. Its lovely.

My sister and I absolutely loved this camp site. You felt like you were in the middle of no where right in the national park. Star gazing was perfect and the view was beautiful. It rained that day and we probably would not have made it without all wheel drive. I can’t imagine how bad the road gets with lots of rain so be aware of the weather. Breathtaking views of the stars and the milky way from here. In the morning you get beautiful views of the painted desert and mesas from here as well. Very easy to find and roads not bad at all maybe a bit diffucult if you are in a sedan or similar vehichle. Be mindful you are roughing it theres a porta potty and a table but thats it! We enjoyed our single night stay and if we come back for petrified forest we will likely stay here again!

2 nights at The Campsites at Paraíso Dorado

Car camped here for 2 nights to visit the Petrified National Forest. Amazing stay! Very quiet(I heard the train a few times but was really just background noise) and the stars at night were beautiful! Would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Painted Desert Ranger Cabin

2 nights at Petrified Forest

Beautiful land beautiful tent! Camping in this spot was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. I loved waking up to the serene views around us.
