We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead. There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area. Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream. Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. A hut, built with love during musical campouts, materials are recycled from building sites may be available, on a first-come first serve basis, but please don't count on anything being there but the open land and sky. There are 40 acres to explore and camp on. You can follow the property boundaries, or just head straight out from the hut away from the road or on the other side of the road for at least half a mile and camp anywhere. You can drive all over the land in a regular vehicle and find your spot. If you do use the hut, please leave it in better shape than you found it. Same with the land. Here is my vision: Adventurous, creative, nature-loving kindred souls can converge on these 40 acres and bring what they need but also share with one another (the stone soup spirit). Although you do need to take in and out everything (water, food, bedding...) and there is no outhouse at the moment (dunes for some privacy, and thinly bury your waste), you can drive anywhere on the land and have what you need in your vehicle. It sometimes gets windy, so car-camping is recommended over tents, though you can also bring your RV. Basically at the moment, this is an isolated, wild campsite, with total peace and quiet but where you bring everything. There is no running water, cooking supplies, or toilet. You may find firewood further down the road, and can have a fire anytime, but nothing is supplied. You will need to take your trash with you. The photos are not up to date and still show amenities that are not there. The hut may be available, but it is just a structure with no door. Also note that there is no way to get there with Google maps/ GPS coordinate. I will send detailed directions if you book, but you probably want to arrive with some daylight. If prepared to rough it, it's a gorgeous site with open sky, amazing views, stars, rocks, and silence.

Back to basics with endless desert sky. Hike giant rock sculptures, gather petrified wood, maybe find the hidden pond or seasonal Little Colorado to splash in . Bathed in the Canyon's ethereal ambiance, powdery views of Navajo Plateau and snowy San Francisco Peaks await. This is “Stone Soup,” in honor of unique geology and a folktale where everyone brings something to make a whole greater than its parts. A hut, built with love during musical campouts, materials are recycled from building sites may be available, on a first-come first serve basis, but please don't count on anything being there but the open land and sky. There are 40 acres to explore and camp on. You can follow the property boundaries, or just head straight out from the hut away from the road or on the other side of the road for at least half a mile and camp anywhere. You can drive all over the land in a regular vehicle and find your spot. If you do use the hut, please leave it in better shape than you found it. Same with the land. Here is my vision: Adventurous, creative, nature-loving kindred souls can converge on these 40 acres and bring what they need but also share with one another (the stone soup spirit). Although you do need to take in and out everything (water, food, bedding...) and there is no outhouse at the moment (dunes for some privacy, and thinly bury your waste), you can drive anywhere on the land and have what you need in your vehicle. It sometimes gets windy, so car-camping is recommended over tents, though you can also bring your RV. Basically at the moment, this is an isolated, wild campsite, with total peace and quiet but where you bring everything. There is no running water, cooking supplies, or toilet. You may find firewood further down the road, and can have a fire anytime, but nothing is supplied. You will need to take your trash with you. The photos are not up to date and still show amenities that are not there. The hut may be available, but it is just a structure with no door. Also note that there is no way to get there with Google maps/ GPS coordinate. I will send detailed directions if you book, but you probably want to arrive with some daylight. If prepared to rough it, it's a gorgeous site with open sky, amazing views, stars, rocks, and silence.

Great location near the Grand Canyon! Just an open piece of land for boondocking - there may be other campers present during your stay. The stars and night sky out here are amazing and completely worth the trip. **Please use the coordinates. The property is 40 minutes north of Williams. If your GPS takes you into Williams that is the wrong location. IMPORTANT NOTE: The last one mile to the location is a bumpy dirt road. Imagine the worst road you’ve been on - this is slightly better and if this is the worst you’ve been on .. well then live a little. In the past, some people complained about the dirt road not being in good shape due to rains. Please know that we are not responsible for or even aware of the road conditions to the property. Unfortunately, the county has done no maintenance since the early 1990s and has no plans to. The quotes we have received to fix just the worst parts have been between $35,000 and $50,000. Lastly, check the signs on the way in the area about fire danger and whether you are able to have a campfire or not. If you are allowed, please make sure to fully extinguish it. We are working on bringing services and upgrades to the property. All money being earned will go towards this effort.

I had an amazing time at this campsite! It’s nestled in the woods, surrounded by shady trees, and has plenty of space to set up your tent. I stayed at site 7, which was pretty flat and had soft, easy-to-sink ground for my tent stakes. The sounds from the surrounding area were incredible - I heard a rooster, cows, owls, and a donkey. It felt super secluded, and if you venture into the woods, there’s a pond that’s perfect for taking photos. I made a delicious dinner and enjoyed sitting around the campfire. In the morning, I was greeted by a friendly Hipcamp doggy who hung around for a bit. Overall, it was a lovely place, and the town nearby is close by with restaurants and shops.

We had a lovely stay at Gary and Daren’s! The views were lovely, and there were lots of little nature walks around the area which were peaceful and quaint. The facilities were great! Hot showers, and a nice little common room with cooking facilities, water, towels, dishes, coffee, etc. Gary was very welcoming and accommodating. There’s lots of attention to detail and love invested in this space! We would definitely stay here again!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience at sacred Springs. But before I get to the property, let me tell you about the hosts. We had first planned on going to the property a month ago and had some serious car troubles that made that journey impossible. I’m pretty cynical, so typically anywhere that I’ve paid some amount of money to put a deposit down and circumstances have come up that impacted our ability to get somewhere ,not the place we were going, I usually just consider the deposit given as a loss. Never to be see again. “ thanks for playing, but sorry we have to keep your money because we are uncaring un-empathetic, greedy bastards.” That was not even remotely close to the experience we had BEFORE even making it there. We reached out to inform Gary and Darrell that we would be unable to make it, sadly but would be looking forward to coming in the future. These remarkable gentlemen who were so kind throughout the entire communication process before we even booked, continued this kindness and added empathy and sympathy for our situation. Still emailing and talking to us while we were in the midst of a horrific experience with our vehicle, not near our home and dealing with the costs and every other negative you could have. These two were like a ray of sunshine. Their gracious and sincere words in the emails and their hospitality and generosity is like nothing I’ve seen in years… decades even. They refunded us and offered a complimentary stay.

Beautiful, well-maintained property overlooking I-17. My wife and I only stayed for a short time, but it was great! There was a hot shower and a flush toilet, which was a savior considering that our campervan's toilet wasn't working (don't rent a van from IndieCampers). There were a bunch of other amenities provided as well, and Gary was super nice and welcoming. The ONLY thing I think could be improved is that my tired brain could not figure out which direction to turn the faucet in the shower for hot water, but that was mostly my fault 😁

Laura was super sweet! There were very clear instructions on how to get in! The bathroom was super clean it had a flushing toilet and running water. She also had farm animals that were so friendly. Her dogs are the absolute cutest and super friendly! The campsite was so nice and very spacious. It had a table and fire pit with logs to sit on! The walk to the creek was super pretty and well maintained! We really enjoyed staying here!
