This was by far one of our top favorite camping trips for my sons and I. I want to tell EVERYONE how wonderful and amazing it was but I am afraid everyone will want to go. I’ll call it my best kept secret ;) camp host was so amazing when we arrived and gave us a tour. We went exploring and hiking the next couple days and made some beautiful memories. I have nothing negative to say about this spot. It was breathtakingly beautiful and the camp sites all held their own beauty of the canyon.

This has got to be one of the most amazing places that I've had the opportunity to come to!! Andrew is an outstanding host, take the tour he offers!! From the exploration of the mines, to the waterfalls, to the ohv trails, this camp is one of a kind!!! Higher clearance vehicle would be recommended as roads can be rough and run a cliff line, but the end result is epic!! You are quite literally in the middle of an abandoned ghost town.

I had a wonderful welcome by the host, Dennis. He kindly oriented me around his property and made sure I was comfortably set up for the night. I had an event at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park the next day, so the camping location was perfect, just a 5-min or 2-mile drive in the morning.

Great time spent on some scenic and peaceful property! Amber was very accommodating and made the experience definitely worthwhile. It was awesome seeing all of the farm animals as well as exploring the property as there was a lot to do. I feel like one night was definitely not enough and the next time I’m out here will definitely book multiple nights!

Ash Creek is a unicorn for remote camping on the edge of the Tonto National Forest. Andrew and his son offered us a tour of the canyon and we got to see all the views and learn about the history of the mining operations. The campsite we chose was flat and clean and the clearing was surrounded but trees and steep cliffs. With no light pollution, the night sky looked amazing and the sound of the creek created a nice ambience. We brought our own firewood but there were plenty of loose branches if you prefer to forage. I wish we had booked for more time here, because there is a lot to see and do, including hikes and mine exploration. I had no issues driving around in my Subaru Outback but would recommend reaching out about road conditions beforehand since some of the paths can be narrow or washed out. I don’t get to camp often but hope to be a repeat customer at Ash Canyon.

5 nights at Gila River View
This was one of the best places we've ever stayed! The host, Amber, was incredible and made sure we had everything we needed. The area is secluded and private and we never heard any noise other than nature. We loved that it's a working cattle ranch with horses, cattle, and pigs. The animals were all friendly and never bothered us. Oh, there was a very friendly barn cat that did snuggle with us a bunch! The camper was an amazing accommodation that offered everything we needed for an indoor experience and sleeping.
The hiking opportunities are endless here! With just a 10 minute hike you can be on the top of a mountain overlooking 2 different valleys that the Gila river runs through. In about a 20-25ish minute hike you can make it from the camp clear into a hidden valley on the back side and make it right up to a secret spot next to the Gila river. We spent half a day at this spot relaxing and enjoying the weather and nature!
It's about a 10 minute drive to the nearest town for any supplies or if you want a restaurant. We only went once to get more drinking water and we were back at camp within the hour!
We will definitely stay here again! We love the place and it's less than 2 hours from our house!

To put it simply, it feels like we only saw the tip of the iceberg as far as exploration goes in Chrysotile. We cannot wait to go back and learn and explore some more. Our stay was magical. Andy was a top-notch host, super accommodating with speedy correspondence, and truly just a pleasure to be around. His enthusiasm, love and awe for this land shined bright. He showed us around all of the land reachable via side-by-side and gave us a grand tour on the history of the abandoned mining town. There is so much to uncover there. Not only was the history fascinating, but the scenery was BEAUTIFUL… truly enchanting. We camped at site #2, Waterfall Pasture. We were perfectly secluded from other campers and felt like we had the whole area to ourselves.. which was great as we were camping with our two young daughters and three dogs (a rather loud bunch). We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend getaway, and cannot wait to come back. THANK YOU ANDY!

Loved this secluded canyon! Met Andrew by the highway, which was already way out there, then followed him on his quad in my 21' class-B van for 3 or 4 miles to campsite #2. Dislodged my low hanging generator on the rough road, but I knew it was a risk. Well worth it. This property had absolutely no noise or light pollution. It was an old mining town with several old mines still open to explore. I had an unforgettable few days secluded on this property. Zero cellular coverage with Verizon and Wi-Fi wasn't on while I was there. I thoroughly enjoyed my unplugged time. I will definitely be returning.

The hosts were very friendly and not only provided us with a wine tasting, but gave us a thorough tour of their wine making process.
We were invited to to hook up our RV to electricity and water, which always a plus on a warm day. Thank Dennis and Brie.

We loved the area and the campsite! Falling asleep to the sound of the creek next to us and waking up to the sun rising over the mountains made us wish we had booked a longer trip. Peaceful, private, and stunning. We came in after dark and Andrew met us at the gate, showed us to the site, and was available for anything we needed. 10/10 no notes. Will book again.
