Welcome to CAMP 222, a private campground nestled on approximately 1 acre of land adjacent to Lewis Smith Lake in Cullman, AL. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime. Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point. Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited. The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Strawberry Festival in April, Octoberfest in October, and Christkindlmarkt in November & December.

Beautiful tall pines enclose this beautiful site in front of an old public cemetery plot that's rarely visited but has a pathway through the woods for exploring, a circle path we named Panther Path will lead you right back to camp. (The name Panther Path has a story. Basically keep an eye out for black panthers in these parts.) Our family and farm animals live on the property as well (Don't mind the rooster in the AM) but there's plenty of room to pitch a tent, bring your small camper or smaller skoolie (If rig is over 25 feet please message me after booking and we can figure out how to accommodate your rig best before arrival.) There is plenty of room for a couple tents as well if you are traveling as a group, amenities include: a brick fire circle, wood garden set for sitting with small table and some privacy from our family but a lot of privacy from the outside world, the graveyards are free to explore, but if you go in the gated one we ask that you relatch the gate. Firewood can be ready at your campsite for an additional cost. We have seasonal events as well as a farm stand, a bus shop, and a greenhouse. (These are still projects in progress.) We have two dogs, Boogie - a male and a very large dog, LGD - Livestock Guardian Dog, her name is Maple. Both dogs are very nice and kind. Maple's job is to protect our ducks and chickens from predators. She will bark but she will not hurt you. She will especially love you if you have treats or say 'Hello, Maple!" We will try to have her put away before bookings if enough notice is given. She will not hurt a human, she knows her job and duty on our homestead but she can be nosy as she runs the perimeter of our property often. If you have a fear of dogs or would like to make sure she is put up just send me a message beforehand and I will make sure she is put away secure. She also will not mind other dogs but please make sure if you bring a pet it is kind to other animals and we expect all pets are leashed at all times unless inside your rig.

The Dry Bones Live (Ezekiel 37). The first visit in 2019 to this 21 acres was both a shock and a confirmation. It had everything on our check list and more - nearly flat land, convenient location, but also twice the acreage, a roadbed, diversity, Monarch butterflies everywhere, access to a big lake.....and it was littered with logs!! They were in piles and scattered everywhere. But this particular land was being placed in my hands to steward and to reveal the creativity and loving nature of Yahweh. And that meant not bulldozing or burning the logs. Instead, the task was to breathe life into the logs and the land through gentle stewardship to protect the biodiversity and build good soil. Breath of Life Farm is being regeneratively developed to cultivate elderberries, vineyards, peaches, mushrooms, and small plantations of trees for wood or nuts. My sister, Pam, and I hope that visitors will come to enjoy the seasonal changes of flower colors, watch for foot and hoof prints of wildlife, enjoy the songs of the birds and the frogs, see how many different native mushroom species they can spot, and be marveled by the stars as they sparkle in the dark night sky. Wonderful hip camp spot. It is peaceful and serene right along the water. The hot water is instant in the shower. The owner is quick to respond to messages and very helpful. There are comfortable Adirondack chairs and tables, nice eating table, dock.

Rachael has taken extra steps to ensure her guest enjoy their stay at Camp 222. The shower and latrine are in excellent condition and the shower's hot water supply is a nice positive. The fire pit, night lights, hammocks, and swing all add to a relaxing and pleasing atmosphere with several spot to lay back and enjoy your stay. If you like to fish, I had the most luck going left upstream on the branch and fishing a little north of Cappie's Boat dock. I would highly recommend Camp 222 to future campers. One negative comment, the camp is just off a fairly busy road. You will hear traffic throughout the day and early evening. But, the positives far out weight this minor negative for me.

What a quaint spot along the river! Everything you need: boat launch, floating dock, hot shower, fire pit, and space!!! Lots of it. I appreciated being greeted by the hosts father at the gate and given a brief tour. He made quick friends with my dog, and was proud to provide the history of his family’s land and the river. Town, with all the amenities you might need from a city, is 10 mins away. The camp is along a well traveled road, but gets very quiet at night for sleeping. You also have private residences across the river, but that did not impact my sense of privacy or safety. I would definitely return if in the area again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Eagle Point and Blue Bird sites, the views were beautiful! Zedd and Danny were very responsive and helpful! There is 2 out houses, 2 water spickets, and a propane shower that is perfect for cold weather! We went on both trails, both were beautiful, just a bit steep! This site is the perfect mix of being secluded and close to town (20 minutes)! We will absolutely be coming back!

I really enjoyed tent camping on Rachel’s land ! Everything was clean and beautiful. The hot shower was fantastic and having electricity on demand was great also! Firewood was provided although… I didn’t get a chance to use it only because the winds were blowing so much, I didn’t want to be irresponsible. I read where people mention the road noise…I think the key is getting there early enough and after a little bit, you kind of don’t notice it. Now, if you got there right before or at nightfall, it might be an irritant for a little while but… it dies down dramatically. It felt extremely safe and private. Upon getting there, Rachel’s dad and husband, met me at the gate, unlocked it and showed me everything I needed to be shown. How to use the hot shower, which was easy, how to turn on the power and use the electricity box, which was also easy also. The box had a 50-30- and 4 standard outlets …so you were covered all the way around as far as being able to have electricity for your tent or RV or pop-up! Also, there was a water outlet with drinkable water and three additional outlets for water…Note… it was great having a light switch on the electrical box, which turned on the lights goingacross the camping area! Right before they left, I was given the key to the gate and told to call if I had any issues or questions whatsoever, so I could lock and unlock the gate anytime ! Great place and great people! I am already planning my next trip back! Thank you so so much Rachel ! 😊
