Camp TedRock Adirondack Forest Retreat provides private and secluded off grid campsites and structures on 5 forested acres within the Blue Line of The Adirondack State Park in Thurman New York. Just minutes from I-87 and the Lake George Region, our A Frame site offers a 120 square foot authentic A-Frame cabin with an open Adirondack Lean-to approach. This 1-4 person A frame comes with 2 to 4 sleeping cots, 2 hammocks (available) with hanging space inside or out and plenty of space to pitch a tent all around, tent included. Down by the runoff stream (sometimes there is no runoff!) you'll find a fire ring with a cooking grill and outdoor seating. Inside the A frame you're provided a lantern, gas cook stove, kitchen ware, food storage cooler and small table and chairs. 14 gallons of potable water is provided. There is a small corner loo inside the A frame with a flushing RV type toilet for the ladies and also a comfortable Adirondack outhouse with an ecological waste removing system. Although the A frame is UNHEATED, there is a small propane space heater available to take off the chill of a cool Adirondack evening. A 1 lb Propane bottle is provided. Additional Propane is available to purchase. This 5-acre quiet paradise is surrounded by on site walking trails where the only sounds are the owls and an occasional airplane. Adirondack Rustic Retreat

As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since. Come and visit our little patch of wilderness!

We went camping here with our family for a week last summer and had the time of our lives! We loved it so much that we are going here for two weeks this summer and have already booked our two weeks for Summer 2021! The lake is perfect for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The sites are large, well-spaced out, and shaded by hardwood trees. The bathrooms are recently renovated and the staff is incredibly freindly. You can rent canoes and rowboats from the campsite and there is plenty of available firewood available nearby. This campsite is well off the beaten path, which is part of its appeal. If you want a break from the hustle and bustle of life and want to enjoy the beauty of the Adirondacks, this it the place to do it!

Love this place! It is remote and in the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks. It's just a twenty minute drive to Tahawus, a 19th century iron mining/smelting town. Tahawus (meaning "cloud splitter") is also the trailhead for hikes to many of the high peaks including New York's tallest, Mt. Marcy,
