Riverside Campsite

Joan is a wonderful host. Very thoughtful of her guests. Her land is beautiful. All of her sights are private and have a fireplace and picnic table. Her dogs Sid and Onyx are beautiful friendly dogs. We had a dog with us and they play all weekend. We are looking forward to going back within the next couple of months.

Loved our time at Joan's place. First time using hipcamp so had no idea what to expect, and it was awesome. I plan on returning many times, it is PERFECT, for cyclists who want to use it as a base camp or are through riding. Had a great time, 10/10 will return!

We loved camping in the bunkie at Pine the Sky. Joan was an amazing host, super friendly, very accommodating. She has two beautiful dogs that are very playful. The campsite is very cozy and the views are beautiful! Will definitely visit again.

Lovely onsite doggies!

Most lovely host and welcome doggies. The dogs were super friendly and well mannered. The path to the river was well marked. Well placed and thoughtful sitting spots throughout the property. I didn't use the shower... But it looked very nice. Clean washroom facilities. Would definitely return

What a beautiful, peaceful place. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The bunkie was cozy, the host fantastic and pups were lovable. River, trails, paddle boards...everything you need for a great getaway Can't recommend enough!

Hideaway in the Pines

Joan was very thoughtful! Each child was left a gift of bubbles which brought them joy! Her banana bread was so delicious, and much appreciated. She also loaned us a can opener and a charge chord which was super helpful! Her trails were well marked and very easy to navigate. She has a lot of water toys to enjoy!

The best hip camp experience

We loved everything about Pine The Sky. It’s got everything we were looking for: private camp site, shade, potable water, hot showers, an outhouse, a sheltered tent to hang out in, and a charging station for your phones!! What more could you ask for? This hip camp is a winner. Plus the host is super friendly and makes sure you have everything you need including an urn with coffee. We can’t wait to go back !

Joan was accomodating and welcoming. She was easy to talk to. Anything we needed she was quick to assist. The cabin was small but wide enough to fit 3 people (and a dog), it wasnt too cold in the cabin and electric source is provided for. If someone is looking for camping but would like to skip the setting up of a tent part, then this place is good for you

I didn’t expect the shower to be an outdoor shower, and the showerhead didn’t work, so I ended up just rinsing my hair quickly with the water from the tap. I specifically chose this bunkie because it said electricity was available at the campsite, but the generator was broken, so we couldn’t use any power. I was expecting a more comfortable camping experience, but it turned out to be quite inconvenient and very cold. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families with kids. However, the host was kind and welcoming. I think it would be much better if the washroom, shower, and electricity facilities were improved.

Joan is a legend living in a little slice of heaven with her cat and 2 happy dogs (that I was ready to dognap and take home with me lol). Our dog very quickly formed a pack with hers and they roamed the forest all day! Joan was super accommodating, kind and very quickly made you feel at home. The campsites were clean, private and oh so pretty! We camped for 5 days and only saw other campers for about 10 minutes the entire stay! There was also ample recreational equipment that our child kept us busy with. Despite being rained out, we had the perfect week 💚 Big thanks to Joan, Onyx & Sid!

Broken Tree campsite by the Road

We stayed at the Meadow campsite at Pine the Sky and had such a great time! I brought my girlfriend, her mom, and my girlfriend’s 3 younger brothers (7, 9, 11) for their very first camping trip, and everyone loved it. The site felt super private and tucked into the woods, with no sight of other campers or houses—just nature all around. The washroom was impressively clean, with a proper light inside, and there were tons of thoughtful extras available to borrow: life jackets, a Thermacell (huge help with mosquitoes), sleeping mats, chairs, umbrellas, and more. The charging station was really convenient too, so we didn’t have to fully rely on our own power banks. The enclosed shower house was awesome—hot water and a light made it easy to rinse off after a day outdoors. There’s also a clear-water sink outside for washing dishes and hands. Joan, the host, was welcoming, kind, and super helpful. She gave us recommendations for nearby activities like Flesherton Pond (highly recommend for swimming with kids). On site, the river was another fun option—Joan provides a paddleboat, canoe, and kayak to use. The stream itself isn’t great for swimming since it drops off, but it gets shallower farther out. Overall, our whole group—kids included—had a fantastic time. It was the perfect mix of being out in nature while still having some comforts to make the experience smooth and enjoyable. We’d definitely recommend Pine the Sky to anyone considering a stay here!

Cozy Forest

I stayed for two nights and three days at Pine in the Sky in Southgate, Ontario, at the Cozy Forest site, and it was exactly what I needed to recharge. Surrounded by tall, whispering pines, the campsite felt private and peaceful, with just the right balance of seclusion and easy access to explore the property. My goal was to step away from the noise of daily life — to read, reflect, and enjoy nature — and this place delivered. Mornings brought golden sunlight streaming through the trees, afternoons were spent exploring the property or nearby trails (like in Flesherton) and relaxing in the fresh air, and evenings closed with the calming sounds of the forest and campfire. It was a perfect rhythm for slowing down and reconnecting with myself. I was also able to do some stargazing and catch some of the Perseids meteor shower! A huge part of what made the experience so memorable was Joan, the property owner, and her two dogs Sid and Onyx. She’s warm, welcoming, and clearly cares about creating a space where guests can truly unwind. That personal touch made all the difference and gave the stay a sense of home, even out in the woods. If you’re looking for a quiet escape to reflect, read, or simply breathe deeply under the trees, I can’t recommend Pine in the Sky enough. The beauty of the landscape, the thoughtful layout of the campsites, and the kindness of the host all combine to make it a true gem. I left feeling rested, inspired, and eager to return. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hideaway in the Pines

We loved our weekend away at Joan’s place. There were seven of us, so some stayed in the Hideway in the Pines and some in the Strawberry Fields Bunkie. We enjoyed having access to a great kitchen and full bathroom in the hideaway. The forest area in front of the bunkie was perfect for playing with the kids and having a campfire. We would return again!

Joan was fabulous at timely communication and figuring out which site was best for me and my Class B Campervan. I Was looking for shade because of our scorching temperatures and some flexibility because of poor air quality. I got both. I was there in a quieter day so not much in un and out traffic beside the site. Picnic table and fire pit were good. I could recommend that the site be cleaned up of the many large sticks on it. Wouldn’t take long. Also Joan has potable water but no food grade hose so I filled at home instead. Joan had great recommendations for the area.

A must visit!!

The land is beautiful and there is something for everyone!! This is not my first trip to Joan's! It will also not be my last! Joan is amazing and has become a more than a host to me shes a friend!! I highly recommend any of the spots on Joan's Land!!
