Ramble along to Hastingford Fishery, an adults-only shepherd's hut and fishing site set in a scenic lakeside setting less than five minutes’ drive from the East Sussex village of Hadlow Down and 20 minutes from Royal Tunbridge Wells. This site should suit couples or singles wanting to 'get away from it all' and also fishing fans down to the ground. It’s got several fishing lakes to choose from with lots of different species, so settle down on the banks with rod in hand and while away a few hours (or days) in quiet contemplation, waiting for something to bite. But please note, the site is not for 'competition anglers' although there are plenty of good sized carp around. and asks anyone fishing to only use barbless hooks, and for fish to be returned to the lake quickly after being caught.Not the fishing type? Chill out in and around your secluded hut, or there’s plenty to entertain in a leisurely fashion: paths wind around the lakes and through copses/shaws (as this is the High Weald) plus through the local countryside. Our Shepherd’s Hut offers the perfect hideaway with hot tub. Nestled in an orchard, overlooking a private meadow, this hand-built hut combines rustic charm with modern comforts. This beautifully detailed hut offers an idyllic base for exploring the surrounding countryside, or simply unwinding in your own private space. A wood burning stove means it can be used all year round and has a bathroom & shower. Fire pit. The Hot tub is optional and is charged at £28 for two nights payable separately on site.
The double bed is a pull down type operation which is very simple . The bedding is permanently laid. When not in use there is a table to dine.
There are no permanent cooking facilities but a multi cooker can be provided. There is a two ring electric hob with toaster and kettle. An under counter fridge/freezer is in built.

We can provide additional sleeping if required for 2 persons in an adjacent well equipped Mercedes camper van . Please enquire before booking for pricing.

Our small, off-grid campsite is surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside, with a stunning two-acre coarse fishing lake at its heart. Watch damselflies dancing across the water, spot kingfishers and other wildlife, enjoy spectacular sunsets over the lake and spend your evenings beneath some of Cornwall’s darkest skies.
Although you’ll feel wonderfully tucked away, we’re perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall. Mawgan Porth is just 9 miles away, Padstow 10 miles, Newquay 11 miles and Mevagissey 15 miles away, making Tregonetha Lake the perfect base for exploring both the north and south coasts.
As a Freedom Camping Club Certified Site, we offer peaceful, low-impact camping in a natural setting — no membership required.

Tregonetha Lake is home to around 25 camping pitches, so while you’ll have other campers nearby during busier periods, we’ve designed the site to feel spacious, peaceful and relaxed.
Whether you choose a lakeside pitch or one of our secluded woodland pitches, there’s always plenty of room to unwind and enjoy nature.
All camping pitches are non-allocated, so simply choose your favourite spot when you arrive and make yourselves at home.

At the heart of the campsite is our beautiful two-acre coarse fishing lake, where guests can enjoy peaceful days by the water surrounded by nature.
Fishing day tickets are available during your stay.

Our very own lakeside bar and kitchen is the perfect place to relax, enjoy delicious food and soak up the atmosphere beside the water.
Join us for freshly brewed coffee and breakfast rolls in the morning, or unwind in the evening with stone-baked pizzas, loaded nachos and a refreshing drink as the sun sets over the lake.

Loved this place, we wanted to stay longer! Everything was thoughtfully put together and the pitches felt private. It was lovely having access to barista coffee in the mornings, if we could get out of bed early enough :) For campers to know, the road alongside the property can be quite noisy at night. I enjoyed sitting in the barn and reading from the library, and met some lovely people. Mark was a nice host! Loved the chickens and the cats too.

A decent striped back camp field. On the doorstep of Holt Heath which made dog walking a breeze.
Visited out of season so I was the only tent camper for the weekend although there seem to be some residents on site.
Did get awoken when one resident came returned to the site at midnight and talking quite loud there on.
But otherwise a nice overnight.

I have nothing but good tbings to say about campung at hipcamp. The people running the camp were great; helpful and friendly. The fascilies were more than what anyone would need and maticulously cleaned every day.
The surroumding area is a treat too with loads to see and do, for adults and kids alike.
Be back soon but will he going for one of the other great looking accomodations they have on offer for a change.

Brilliant secluded spot, so quiet you'd forget there's a nursery right behind. Footpaths lead straight from the site into Ditchling, where there are some lovely pubs. Facilities are basic, but that's perfect as long as you know what you're getting into. Great value for the price, fantastic host. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Weekend Trip to The Nut Plat Retreat
Wonderful stay at this rustic retreat! The hot tub was easy to use, super comfortable bed, and (very) nearby pub was delicious - even a free community curry night one evening. We were also able to charge our phones at the pub and send a quick text since the site didn't have sockets/cell service (not a bad thing just something to note)! Unlimited wood and quick responses from Duncan made this an extremely smooth-sailing glamping retreat! Extremely private-feeling as well. Will definitely return for another needed city escape :)

Beautiful little campsite. Car free camping so just campers and tents on the lakeside field. Everything is so pretty with lots of handcrafted wooden buildings. Composting toilets which are so clean. Great showers and washing up facilities. Pretty lights, new bar area which did morning coffee and breakfast baps. Some lovely glamping tents and woodland area. Pretty walk round the lake and lovely people, Tom told us how he has developed the site with such pride. We loved it so much we came back for a second night and will definitely come again. Recommend!
