Weekend Trip to Backwoods Cabin Co

Super cute little get away! lots of blankets provided along with essentials, BBQ had propane, games and dvds were provided for a rainy day. Very peaceful, and close to tweed for last minute runs into town!

Jacks Cabin was a perfect cozy cottage in the woods. Beautiful property and plenty of classic board games to play by fire light. The wood stove kept up very warm throughout the night. The only con is the outhouse has a window but no curtain. Its a small critique but worth mentioning. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend anyone looking to get away for a quiet weekend check out this property.

Weekend Trip to Windpsalm Acres

This wonderland of green was so beautiful. The land & water is just breathtaking and the peaceful atmosphere. Fen was a great host very friendly, everything was in order. The sleeping space was warm and cozy. Our dog loved the space to run. Will be returning!

Weekend Trip to Black Maple Farm

This is the second time we stayed at Black Maple Farm, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The site is clean, well-organized, and very pleasant, and our toddler absolutely loved helping feed and care for the animals. The hosts are warm, helpful, and lovely to chat with. I highly recommend this campsite- we will certainly be back next summer!

Weekend Trip to Bushwood!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side. This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands. Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope. On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We absolutely loved our stay at Judy’s Yurt! From the moment we arrived, Judy’s kindness and warm welcome made us feel right at home. The property is truly special — peaceful, private, and filled with natural beauty. The yurt itself was clean, cozy, and very comfortable, giving us the perfect balance of rustic charm and relaxation. We especially enjoyed the sauna, which was such a treat after a day outdoors. The natural swimming pond was refreshing and serene, and the separate pond full of turtles and wildlife was magical to sit by — it felt like stepping into a little nature sanctuary. Judy’s property is a place where you can completely unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. The time we spent here was absolutely worth it, and we left feeling refreshed and grateful. We would highly recommend Judy’s Yurt to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and can’t wait to come back ourselves!

Weekend Trip to The Ridge Retreat

We had a great time at The Ridge Retreat! The campsite is beautiful, well-maintained, and the views are amazing. The fire pits were perfect, and we really appreciated how easy it was to set up camp near the road at the top of the hill. That spot is very convenient for loading and unloading gear, though being close to the road does mean you’ll occasionally hear passing cars and nearby dogs. Next time, we’d probably choose a spot closer to the water for more privacy and atmosphere. The trail leading down to the water and lower campsites is long with steep inclines, so be prepared for a bit of a trek. We brought a wagon, which made transporting our things manageable—without it, carrying everything would’ve been tough. The dock and water setup are absolutely gorgeous. We spent most of our days down there soaking in the views, and our dog had the best time playing by the water. We didn’t swim ourselves, and while we didn’t catch any fish, just being by the water was incredibly relaxing. The host was wonderful—very friendly, accommodating of our late arrival, and made sure we had plenty of firewood. Overall, we’d definitely recommend The Ridge Retreat to anyone looking for a scenic, peaceful camping experience with a balance of convenience and adventure.

The pictures truly don’t do this spot justice! It’s very beautiful and spacious. My mother even took a photo of the outhouse because she couldn’t believe how clean and nice it was 😂. Very private and quiet space. View of the water was definitely a hike but absolutely worth it. An excellent time was had by all! Already planning to visit again! ☺️

Another amazing stay at this serene country paradise! Kelly and her family are wonderful hosts; they gave us all the privacy we wanted, but were certainly there if we needed anything. On the other hand, Sasha (the dog), Lucy (the cat), and the chickens (ruled over by a noisy but amusing black rooster), visited regularly, adding whimsey and comfort to the visit! We look forward to our next visit; it's starting to feel like family!

3 nights at The Ridge Retreat

It was an amazing spot to stay, the outhouse was super clean, it was very quiet and peaceful! It is definitely a hike to get to the water from where we decided to put our tent up so we will definitely remember to bring the wagon next time, to make bringing things up/down a bit easier. We brought our dogs and they LOOVED It - soo many squirrels to chase and they loved jumping off the dock Overall super nice spot!

2 nights at Black Maple Farm

We stayed at Lisa and family’s stargazer bunkie for two nights in early September and it was a wonderful experience. We arrived after dark and Lisa was so helpful in making sure we found the bunkie, and always replied to messages promptly. The bunkie was well stocked, cleaned, and decorated, and we had no trouble making all the meals we had planned. It really felt like glamping, and having some time alone with Tango the horse in the night and morning felt super special. All the animals looked happy and well taken care of, were friendly and a pleasure to interact with :) Location is also great if you are planning of taking advantage of the wonderful trails at Frontenac Provincial Park.

Absolutely perfect spot for a little weekend away. The hosts were very helpful and had great recommendations for local attractions. Also, we thought we would be much farther away from our vehicle than we actually were. You park on the same property you are camping on, you just don’t pull straight up to your spot to avoid tire tracks along the property. Overall, it was perfect for our trip and we are so grateful to the hosts for having us.

The best part of this site was how hospitable Jo & Chris were, they checked in a few times to make sure that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The site itself was beautiful and the bunkie had everything we needed for the perfect off grid camping experience, especially the five star poop house. We also quite enjoyed getting to run around with their very cute and friendly dogs!

For the last 26 years we have lived here on our 6 acres of property where our Maple Sugar Bush allows us to produce our very own maple syrup every spring. The Ridge Retreat is 6 acres of beauty topped off with amazing waterfront and an awesome new dock. A gravel road has been prepared from the road access right down to the lake. We recommend that you park on the upper portion of this driveway/road and walk or use an ATV to travel on the trail to the lake. As mentioned, there is about a 40 ft incline just as you approach the clearing down by the lake . Please wear running/walking shoes and descend slowly down either of the 2 trails provided. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc. There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge. This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge. An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake. The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.
