-- What to do around the cabin?
Mosque Lake and Ompah offer many adventures and places to discover. Go out on a hike and explore the trails in the area. Go on a photographic adventure and try to capture the best wildlife shots around the lake. Take a SUP or a kayak -available for free for the guests- and explore the islands. And if you like to prepare fresh fish-based dishes, Mosque Lake has great trout and perch fishing.
If you like to follow the winds of winter, take a pair of snowshoes available at the cabin and go across the lake and have a winter picnic. Set up your fishing shack outside your door, open a hole and fish!
*Winter roads require an AWD or 4WD vehicle to access Juniper Cabin.
Parking is available on-site for all guests. If you bring your boat, there is parking for your trailer as well.
*Power outages due to storms are always a possibility in cottage country. Typically, power is restored within a few hours if this should happen. Cottages will be stocked with candles and flashlights for guest safety.
*Internet/WIFI access is available at the property- connect to our WIFI and work from the cabins.
* If you’d like to bring your own boat, there is a free boat launch on the lake, and we can support docking your boat.

Guest are welcome to bring their own firewood. The first crate of firewood is included with your stay, and each additional crate is $5. The firewood is self-serve and we ask you to simply let us know how much wood you have used during your stay, or leave the appropriate funds on your table at check out.
Guests are responsible for removing their garbage and recycling from the cabin and bringing it to the garbage shed. The township requires all waste to be sorted, and the containers in the shed are labelled accordingly. Please sort your garbage and do your part to help save our planet.
We do have neighbours on one side of our property and share the peninsula with our amazing cottage community. Please be courteous to our cottage neighbours. We ask that you respect them and the noise levels while staying with us.

This property was settled by the Irish in the mid 1800’s. Originally inhabited by Algonquin peoples the land was cleared for farming and they erected several building including a large German style hand hewn timber frame barn which still stands and is used today. The farm house was built in the 1910 and the original log cabins have been reframed into artistic buildings. It is wild to look around and imagine what life was like before now in a time when the land had no boundry lines and was traversed by indigenous peoples of this area. We have a great respect for those who have walked before us and a deep sense of gratitude for being here today.

The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage.
The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max.
Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there.
The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks.
This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children.

Situated on 18 acres, available to our guests we have our main cabin, a dining gazebo, and a riverside gazebo. The area is well treed in for privacy and a true feeling of an escape. Guests can access hours of private hiking trails along the river and through the forest. An open area next to the cabin is available for lounging and games as well as viewing of the night sky with no light pollution.
Located an approximate 200ft from the York River, our 700 sqft cabin features vaulted ceilings with ample amounts of sunlight for a cozy yet airy feel. It is fully winterized with baseboard heaters and a wood stove.

Rustic bunkie located on 2 acres, is nestled among the trees beside a small, crystal clear lake. With 700 ft of untouched shoreline, privacy is second to none. From this lake, you can access 3 other lakes by provided canoe/kayak without portage.
The site is 35 min. from Algonquin Park and 11 km from MKC, the world-famous white water paddling centre.
10x10 main floor with sleeping loft. Solar power provides lighting & a propane furnace for cool nights. Solar lights outside provide ambient lighting-may be turned off if preferred.
The call of the loons & the barred owl will be your lullaby as you drift off to sleep after a day of hiking, paddling, or swimming.
There is no running water, you will have to bring your own drinking water. You will need to bring everything you require for cooking, eating and washing dishes. There is no sink, stove, or BBQ on site. As the site is off-grid, there are no appliances.
There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit. Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter, and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit.
If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival.
There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed.
You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water!
Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community — no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!
Please respect the natural setting — leave it as you found it, do not cut live growth.

Paul's cabin in the woods is a lovely call to simpler times. The short hike up the hill is a bit of challenge with a heavy cooler, but once you arrive, the space is mesmerizing. Everywhere you look there is a story to be told. The kitchen has everything you need and then some, the beds are comfy and the outhouse is very welcoming. When we were not sleeping we were sitting on the dock or swimming in the beautiful waters of the lake. While we were there we felt like we were staying at a friends cottage, we were filled with gratitude and wanted to leave the place a little better then it was when we arrived, not for the benefit of the owner, but for the benefit of all those yet to come. It's a beautiful place to be still and chill.

This was a great way to camp. The hideaway cabin was comfortable, warm and very clean. Everything you needed was provided!
Lots of privacy. The host was very responsive and communication was great. The outdoor shower was amazing and having our own personal outhouse was great too. Having the option for flush toilets and inside shower a bonus as well. Such a beautiful spot!
You are camping so the bugs are bad but thats expected.

Paul’s cabin was perfect. He was very kind and helpful. He left very detailed instructions for us and made it a breeze to enjoy. Everything from the cabin to lake was beautiful. Couldn’t recommend enough. Thanks paul!

My two kids and I stayed in the Princeton, and it was absolutely perfect! Everything we needed was provided. It was very clean and comfortable and the forest setting was so beautiful and peaceful. We really enjoyed our evening camp fires, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and cycling. They also have peddle cars which both of my boys (5 and 10) loved. Chris and Cathy were so kind and welcoming and very quick to respond to any questions or requests. Chris even took the time to show the boys how to catch and hold the chickens in their coop! We can’t wait to go back and spend more time there as a family.

3 nights at Hidden Gem on Lorwell Lake
Kayaked on a crystal clear lake populated by loons, common mergansers, eagles, around a predominantly natural shoreline where kingfishers and kingbirds flew among the cedar waxwings. Beautiful. Warning: Do not follow Google's directions to take Nolan Road. Follow Hwy 512 to Holly Lane.

Weekend Trip to Limerick Lake Camping
Great little glamping cabin right on the lake. Upon arrival Shaun came to the site to make sure we had everything we needed for the weekend and supplied us with some firewood (thanks Shaun!). My girlfriend and I brought our boat and we were able to easily launch. Boat launch was right beside the cabin but also has some tree line between for added privacy. There is a dock right behind the cabin where they let us tie up our boat for the weekend. Only downside is it is fairly weedy around the dock so swimming wasnt optimal. The cabin has a comfy kingsize bed, lounge chairs, dining table and chairs. There is no power but there is an led lamp. Outhouses were clean and a short walk away. We also did some fishing and caught a couple fish, added bonus! Overall I would definitely recommend and would camp here again.

We loved our 4 night camping stay! The chickens were so much fun and so interactive. The grounds are clean and tidy while still offering a welcoming and well enjoyed space. The hosts are responsive, offered great advice on local beaches and farm even provided education!

3 nights at North Frontenac Lodge
Shera and I had a great time! Cabin was cozy and perfect. Quiet nights, beautiful surroundings, enjoyed some kayaking. This was exactly what we needed! Already thinking of trying a winter cabin experience here too!

Weekend Trip to Natural Joy! Cosy Canoe Cottage
We are so grateful we got to stay here!
This place has been calling to me ever since I first saw the photos, and somehow it still managed to blow my expectations out of the water.
Our gracious host, Paul, has created such a unique and magical little world. From the art-lined walls and endless books to the shared outdoor cooking spaces and the peaceful little yoga studio by the water, every corner feels thoughtfully curated. It’s full of treasures, and it’s obvious that the people who built and shaped this place are incredibly creative, interesting humans.
The cottage has everything you could possibly want to feel comfortable and pampered while still being completely immersed in nature. We spent our days fishing and paddleboarding on the lake, watching baby loons, enjoying sunshine, moonlit evenings, and even making friends with the resident red squirrels.
I almost hesitate to recommend it so enthusiastically… only because I selfishly hope it’s available the next time we want to come back! But truly, this place is something special, and we can’t wait to return.

Weekend Trip to Eco Acres Farm
We loved our stay at the Acres Eco Farm’s Robin’s Nest ! We stayed 2 nights and we were really sad to leave.
You have the shower and toilet little house literally a minute away if you don’t feel like going to the outhouse ;)
Plenty of wood to pick up on the floor around the property to make a fire in the fire pit.
The cabin had the essentials to cook and it made the difference for us
We also rented the canoe for the day and had the best time paddling and swimming in the lake it’s a must !
We had the chance the chance to meet Lauren and she was adorable. Gave us some fresh mint, camomille and calendula flowers to make some tea. Along with some delicious wild berries !

Second time here celebrating my son’s bday and it was again so much fun ! The beach is great for young kids and has all the water boats you will need ! Also great fishing !
