It includes a converted 29’ sailboat, a large open air cookhouse including a wood fired pizza oven and propane fridge and stove and a wash house with composting toilet and gravity fed sink. In May we will have available a further sleeping accommodation featuring an antique double bedstead. An outdoor shower can wash away a day’s labours! Added amenities include kayaks, a horseshoe pitch, two fire pits, a play area including a basketball court and a hammock beneath the overhanging trees. A new 10’ by 15’ tenting / chilling area sits beneath the trees next to the amenities. Sandy walkways connect the beach to all of the different elements. Multiple spots around the property invite quiet reflection. The campsite is located on a 6th generation farm where we have Angus cattle, chickens, vegetable and flower gardens and lots of space to enjoy nature. Campers can enjoy lovely views of the farm, take nature walks on the private trails and enjoy seeing the farm animals. We also offer farm tours to guests so they can see how a small farm operation works. We are located in New Ross, 1 hour from Halifax, and the community also offers many activities to do like explore Ross Farm Museum or enjoy one of the many trails. The farm also offers a lovely event space under a post and beam pavilion that was erected in 2018. The building is used for workshops and events but is also the site for camping. The building is covered and has lights for in the evening as well as a firepit. Tenting can be done on the gravel or lawn around the building.

The tent is cozy and has a woodstove for 4 season enjoyment, mattresses for single or double bed configuration. This is part of "Cottage Country" and there are plenty of trails to hike or ski. There is lake access, but it isn't a great lake for swimming.

Maplewood Creek

15. Maplewood Creek

52km from Coldbrook Provincial Park · 1 site
Maplewood Creek is a peaceful, clothing-optional property designed for those who value connection — with nature, with like-minded community, and with themselves. Whether you’re a seasoned naturist or simply curious about a freer and more grounded way of being, you’re welcome here. Set just off the beaten path, the land offers a quiet, rustic setting where guests can unplug and unwind in comfort. Think of it as a gentle step into a more natural rhythm — a place where the air feels fresher, time slows down, and there’s no pressure to be anything but yourself. Each campsite or rental space is spaced thoughtfully to give you privacy, while still allowing opportunities to connect with others if you choose. If you’d prefer to enjoy the entire space to yourself, that’s welcomed too — we fully support both community connection and complete solitude. The experience is intentionally off-grid. While some access to Wi-Fi may be available through a booster, service can be unreliable, and many guests find this part of the charm. Basic amenities are provided to make your stay easy, without compromising the simplicity of the experience. Maplewood Creek is not a resort — it’s a natural setting with a touch of enchantment, where the breeze moves freely, the sky feels wider, and your body and soul are invited to rest.

Overview

About

Nestled amid the lush pines of Nova Scotia, Coldbrook Provincial Park offers a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts and day-trippers alike. Venture just 1 km west from the convenience of local eateries, and you're transported into a world where the simple joy of a picnic under the trees becomes a cherished memory. While the park does not boast campgrounds, its proximity to a variety of take-out restaurants ensures a delightful mix of outdoor charm and easy access to refreshments.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Coldbrook Provincial Park is during the warm summer months, from June to August, when the weather is most conducive for outdoor picnics and strolls beneath the pines. Winters can be harsh, making access challenging and activities limited, so it's best to avoid the cold season if you're looking for the full park experience.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you check the weather forecast before planning your visit to Coldbrook Provincial Park for a comfortable experience.
  • While the park is accessible year-round, some areas may be closed due to seasonal conditions or maintenance work.
  • Accessibility may vary across different sections of the park, so it's advisable to prepare for uneven terrain.
  • Remember to carry out all trash and respect the natural environment to help preserve the park's beauty.
  • Available facilities include picnic areas, but remember to bring your own food or pick up some local take-out nearby.
