Featuring a beautiful deck for relaxation, reading, star gazing, yoga, or alfresco dining, with the interior offering a queen bed, sofa small table and two chairs. Oh so cozy and romantic. There is a fancy outhouse that flushes water and is equipped with a sink. This space is best suited for a single, a couple, and possibly a fur baby and/or little one. We are located on a quiet residential street 20 minutes from Port Alberni and en route to Tofino or Ucluelet. We have walking and mountain biking trails minutes from the house. If you are bringing a fur baby, please let us know. It must be on a leash at all times. Please bring your fur baby's favourite blanket or bed to sleep on. We kindly ask that you keep your fur baby off the furniture and bed, and that you please not leave your pet unattended. The Portal has internet and spotty cell service. There is an outlet for charging, etc. Parking is on-site. Local food options include the "The Fish & Duck Pub" which is just a short walk away. Call Doordash to deliver a meal from one of our local restaurants, such as Sproat Lake Landing, or bring a picnic to enjoy. Canoe $40.00 per day $200 deposit. 6.6 acre property that is a small farm, still lots of trees, a small seasonal creek in the back, a duck pond with a boat to paddle around with or just float around. we raise layer hens so there are fresh free range eggs available. we also raise pork and broiler chickens periodically throughout the year. there is easy access to logging road for mountain biking or hiking. this property is a small piece of wilderness yet only 4km to town. The camp sites surround the pond and there is a choice of lots of sun and light or shaded under the trees. The sites can be used by R.V or tent. there is an outhouse onsite for your convenience.

We absolutely loved our stay at the lovely little cabin – it was all super comfy, and exactly what we needed. It was great to have the picnic table outside. We set up our propane stove and cooked ourselves some yummy dinner and breakfast. The raspberries were ripe in the garden and super tasty! We loved the well thought out camping area by the pond. It was such a relief to stay in a place that wasn't overly crowded. Having a baby, a toddler and large unique dogs, the public are constantly making comments or stopping to try to pet the dogs. Having a space with this quiet, shady set up was so peaceful, even my son didn't want to leave. Thank-You for such an incredible opportunity to stay on your land.

The Maple Cabin is such a sweet spot, nestled on Susan and Tony’s land with a lovely view of the trees and the sounds of songbirds. The bed was comfy and the space warm and inviting. Just a note, If you want more than a shared pit toilet, consider booking the other cabin with a bathroom.

I loved my stay at the portal! So close to the lake, perfect for a morning swim - close to town to get groceries/food, on a very quiet road (probably one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time). Host was kind and helpful! Would recommend for a couple or a solitary stay (would be a great place to use as a writing retreat, I will have to book again!)

Was greeted by Tony. One of the owners of the space was very courteous to show us our stay and the amenities around. Love that we were free to pick the raspberries to enjoy at our leisure. It was a comfortable stay at the Maple cabin with my wife and pup. Our tenting days are coming to an end. Having a cabin is helping the transition.

We loved Susan and Tony’s place! The very private, verdant site (great for our pup), beautiful forest with song birds, the pick your own raspberries every morning, tidy and well-organized facilities, walking proximity to beautiful trails or the local pub all made it such a special place. Susan and Tony go above and beyond as hosts with their welcoming spirit, great info and optional tour of their earthship project. We loved it so much that we extended our stay and are coming back to stay in a cabin.

If you’re looking for a lake beach, Kennedy Lake Provincial Park is a nice spot between Port Alberni and Tofino. Come for a day of swimming, wildlife viewing, fishing, kayaking, or windsurfing in summer—just keep in mind that wind can whip up with little warning here so extreme caution is recommended. In fall, you can see the annual beach spawning of sockeye salmon and perhaps glimpse black bears. The park comprises two sites along the south shore of the lake, adjacent to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island.Facilities are limited, with just a small picnic area, pit toilets, and a rustic boat launch.

When to go

The prime time to visit Kennedy Lake Provincial Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the park is in full bloom. Conversely, the off-peak season, particularly from November to February, can present challenges with cooler temperatures and limited access to some areas of the park.
