Hi, my name is Dave. My family and I would like to welcome you to Nile Point, a secluded campsite located on 20 acres of privately owned, oceanfront property on Nelson Island, BC. I consider it the closest thing to paradise. The first you'll need to know about this property is that it's only accessible by boat. This is what makes the campsite so secluded and peaceful. Transportation to and from the island is included with your stay. The stunning 15 minute boat ride to and from Nile Point is one of the many things that makes this a truly unique experience. The second thing you'll need to know is that we offer TWO SITES on the property, a 10x16 TENT PLATFORM and a OCEANFRONT CANVAS TENT WITH ENSUITE (NEW!) with king size bed, in-tent ensuite bathroom and fully stocked outdoor kitchen with potable water, bar fridge and BBQ We have one canoe, one one-person kayak, a two-person kayak, and some paddleboards. Bring your own water exploring devices if you wish. Our beach is rocky (it ain't a sandy beach!), so bring your good water/rock shoes! This is a great place to stay and explore if you love the wild. It's off the grid, so if you want to unplug from devices and do nothing but relax or play in the ocean and explore the forest, it's perfect. That said, there is cell reception should you need it and a solar charger if you need to charge your devices. Egmont offers a pub, a fancy restaurant, and a charming convenience store with wi-fi. We can take you in to town during your stay for an additional charge of 50$ per direction. We've secured exclusive moorage at a private dock in Egmont. This is where you will park. This private parking includes secure gated access, closer proximity to our accommodations, and stunning waterfront surroundings New Dock Location: 6156 Maple Road Gate Code: 7051 (if broken, just open and close by hand) Do not park at the government wharf in Egmont. Please arrive at the above address. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have about the property. We hope to see you this summer! Dave

birkenfoodforest a perpetually unfinished art project in co creation with the beings that dwell and visit here along with sweet Mother Earth. Situated within St'at'imc Nation Traditional Territory. On an alluvial fan supporting a wide spectrum of diversity in the transition zone leaving coastal mountain rain forest, on the edge of semi arid. Bordered on the East by the flowing waters of Lakshmi. To the South, historical Portage road and Mars Xing, my neighbours dovetail log cabin, dated 1859 was once known as Johnnies RoadHouse. To the West the flowing waters of Saraswati and beyond the "Labyrinth" of bluffs known as Juniper Ridge rises to the alpine. To the North primary old growth forest housing a web of game trails connecting Birkenhead lake Provincial Park. This land was horse logged in the 50's, a few elder mother trees remain standing. There are many zones and edges. Including eighty year old Douglas Fir, Cedar, Douglas and Vine Maple,Maturing Cherry orchards, thickets of shrubs and herbaceous ones offering flowers and berries to the many birds and bees.In more recent years there has been much terrace work done offering meadows and forested camp spots, along with continued cultivation of perennial and annual foods and medicinals.

We are located right at the Earl's Cove Ferry Terminal, tucked into a beautiful wooded area. We're just a 1-minute walk from The Cove Restaurant and the Earls Cove–Saltery Bay ferry. Less than a 5-minute drive from stunning Ruby Lake and about a 10-minute drive from Egmont, the Backeddy Pub, and Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park, the property is ideally situated for exploring the area. This getaway is perfectly located for anyone looking for a short pit stop on the way up the coast or a leisurely stay to explore the stunning surroundings. The property offers a few options for overnight guests: • A tent pad (camping gear can be provided by the hosts if needed), with access to a shared kitchen and, starting in June, an outhouse and outdoor shower to be shared with guests staying in the pavilion. • A cozy pavilion with power and heat, shared access to a washroom and outdoor shower, and its own small fridge, hot plate, and BBQ. • A bedroom in the main cabin for up to two guests, with shared access to a bathroom in the cabin. All guests are welcome to use the common kitchen, located at the top of the property. Guests are also welcome to use the two kayaks and two paddleboards provided by the owners. Callaghan Lake Provincial Park camping guide

Overview

About

Set in the subalpine terrain that was home to the 2010 Winter Olympics Nordic events, Callaghan Lake Provincial Park is just 30 kilometres from Whistler and has snow until June each year. During the brief summer, an informal, user-maintained campground is available. Anglers, hikers, and boaters attracted by the undeveloped wilderness take advantage of the area's ample hiking opportunities as well as the lake fishing. Bobcats, cougars, black bears, and grizzly bears frequent the area, as do deer and mountain goats. Several basic campsites are found in a clearing at the end of the road. Callaghan Lake Provincial Park is located in the territory of the Squamish Nation.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. The park’s informal sites are first-come, first-served, and there is no charge.

When to go

Callaghan Lake Provincial Park is open for camping after the snow melts, usually from mid-June through October.

Know before you go

  • This park has just one user-maintained pit toilet and no water—visitors should be self-sufficient.
  • Because of frequent wildlife activity, campers should use a secure food stash.
  • The 8-kilometre drive into the park from Whistler Olympic Park is on a rough Forest Service road known for potholes and washouts. High-clearance 4x4 vehicles are recommended.
