It’s not all about the fish here, however. Hiking and horseback riding trails abound, and it’s prime bird-watching territory. In 1872, John Muir camped near what is now the recreation area.
Today, this hidden gem in the California State Parks system is a great place for RV, tent, and en route camping. Plentiful trees offer cool shade in the summer heat, and abundant grass pampers bare feet. The campground is clean, quiet, and comfy with beautiful views and just a short stroll to the river.

The campground has a small park feel and is located only a short distance from Colusa’s grocery store, making it a convenient stop for RV campers.
