Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield. The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion. It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort. The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Or simply just relax and enjoy the soundings and view from the sitting rocks.
The public beach for swimming is a quick walk down Beach Road. It has a large dock, picnic tables, grassy area along with an portapotty. Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. The lake has a diverse shoreline and perfect for small boats and kayaks. Enjoy beautiful sunsets overlooking the western end of the lake.

Upon arrival you can safely park your car and we can if desired carry your gear and you pack to the camping acreage via our tractor or golf cart or simply walk yourself - it’s not far. Our outhouse is near the main house - we have access to a SOLIS X for an extra fee if you need WIFI. Farm fresh eggs also available to cook over your fire from our 12 new and amazing chickens ! Free of charge ... we will do anything possible to make your stay comfy and relaxed. Please note - firewood is available for an extra fee (we prefer if you don’t bring your own since some can be infected with invasive species and we try to protect the area as much as possibles). Firewood is $6.00 a bag and typically includes starters and kindling) depending on the local supplier we use.
Coming in the summer - fire pits - bunkies - GLAMPING - and more but for now - come walk / hike our endless trails lined with black berry bushes and wild strawberries along our “secret garden” and enjoy absolute privacy and solitude knowing we are sort of nearby if you need anything at all. We are new at this - just bought this amazing property but we are here to share the experience- WELCOME to our journey - we are at the first step. If you have any questions please ask ! Important Air Conditioning Note
Because the dome is made entirely of glass, sunlight warms the interior during the day. As a result, the space tends to stay warm (not hot) even with air conditioning running and won’t cool as much as a traditional insulated room. However, on cloudy days and evenings with little sunlight, the dome feels quite cool.
The 3-ton air conditioning unit and fans circulate air and help reduce heat, but when the sun is shining, it won’t get cold inside.

Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. The lake has a diverse shoreline and perfect for small boats and kayaks. Enjoy beautiful sunsets overlooking the western end of the lake.

Important Air Conditioning Note
Because the dome is made entirely of glass, sunlight warms the interior during the day. As a result, the space tends to stay warm (not hot) even with air conditioning running and won’t cool as much as a traditional insulated room. However, on cloudy days and evenings with little sunlight, the dome feels quite cool.
The 3-ton air conditioning unit and fans circulate air and help reduce heat, but when the sun is shining, it won’t get cold inside.

Excellent stay for a romantic getaway. If you think a wood burning sauna big enough for 4, a shower big enough for a table and bench, and a hot tub just outside your door makes for a perfect getaway, this is your place. The fridge was big enough for a three night stay, unlimited firewood, and all the oils, lotions and scents one could ask for. Truly a great place to be with the one you love, and your dogo. Could there have been a table inside for us nerds to puzzle on? Sure. But the floor works too. Would go back.

My partner and I loved staying in the dome, our dogs had a blast playing with Max and Ruby too, sweetest pups I ever met. It was amazing sleeping under the stars and the moon. It was like camping but a lot better. Mitch was very attentive and made our stay an 11/10. If you forget something civilization is close by so don’t fret. The pond and the land surrounding the dome is breathtaking. If you want to sleep under the stars surrounded by nature add this trip to your bucket list you will not be disappointed !

Melanie & Ryan were fantastic hosts! They were kind, helpful, and incredibly responsive. The place is beautiful, and the lights make it magical and easy to navigate around at night. The yurt was gorgeous. My friend and I visited at the end of October, so it got very cold at night. Beautiful cabin. Cozy, warm, fun games and amazing scenery. Waking to the lake view down the path is a must! My now fiancé proposed during our stay and it was such a beautiful place to do so. Highly recommend! Ann and her husband were great hosts.

Such a lovely place to relax and get cozy! The A-Frame is super comfortable and cute, outhouse was clean, shower with heated water was amazing, and hot tub/sauna was definitely a plus! We had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone looking for an opportunity to connect with nature. Wish we had more time there! Ann and Brian are also lovely hosts.

Wow! We came in mid October to see the autumn colors. What a great experience! First off the hosts are amazing and very helpful.
The lodge itself is very comfy, the bed is super clean and comfy as well. There's enough firewood for the whole stay (2 Nights). Oh and our dog loved it as well!
The place is around 20 min drive away from any nature hike, and there are plenty in the area.

When I arrived, I like the fact that the host was very informative. She gave us a tour of the location and a relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed the cabin. It was really very pretty. We also enjoyed the fire pit and the atmosphere. I would recommend it. Definitely a great place to go away from the city.

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods
The cabin was great, clean and spacious. It also smelled amazing!! We had a bit of trouble with the hot water at the shower, but after finicking with the ignition and propane tank we managed to get it working.
TIP: you have to make sure you successfully ignited the heater which can take a dozen tries. Turn the water on and wait for 30 seconds until a continuous stream of hot water comes out.
