Located only 1 hour +/- to Ottawa or Kingston! This property provides great access to a secluded level campsite surrounded by mature hardwoods and white pine, overlooking Fagan Lake. There is an outhouse and firepit on-site, with firewood included (please don't bring your own firewood). Supplied Adirondack and other lawn chairs will really make your campfires special! Pets on leash are welcome. Tents, camper trailers and RVs up to 20 feet are welcome. This is a level pull-in site. There is a covered post-and-beam picnic shelter on site for rainy days. A supplied BBQ, a large kitchen prep table, and a small round dining table complete the "glamping" feel. There's always a full 18 litre jug of drinking water on site, although we recommend that you also bring your own water. Access to a secluded lake which is about 2.5 km x 0.5 km in size, and connected to Bennett Lake by the Fall River. The lake is rugged and remote - only 8 cottages on the whole lake. Swimming off the dock, or paddle over to the jumping rocks across the lake. Bring your canoe or kayak and explore the lake and wetlands. Or bring your mountain bikes and enjoy the backroads. This property is in the heart of Lanark County, with all amenities within a 20-minute drive. Lots of hiking trails nearby, and a nice sand beach at Silver Lake Provincial park 10 minutes away. Our off grid house is nestled in the forest on approximately 5 acres we call Jacobs Landing. It overlooks the wetland of Long Sault Creek, fed by Barbers lakes. The wee house is a pleasant 300 foot walk into the forest off of the main dirt road. There is parking on the property and a gate that can be closed for the ultimate feeling of privacy. Jacobs Landing was designed for an off-grid tiny home in the forest experience. Accommodating two adults only. We prefer no pets as we have much wildlife living in the forest and around the house. Our area, also known as the land of lakes, is gleaming with local farmers markets, great food, artisans, walking trails, many lakes and so much character. We hope you enjoy browsing through pictures and getting familiar with our Forest house. I have just completed building our forest dream and am very excited to share it. I will be working hard on the gardens this spring, with hopes to have fresh vegetables in season for our guests. We also continue to upgrade our walking trails. The forest house is an off grid set up that runs off of solar panels that charge batteries. With this system we are able to run the water pump and supply an inverter to charge devices. Most of the lights in the house are battery operated it doesn’t take much to light this place up. Our water is collected with two 1000 gallon drums supplied by natures finest, our rainfalls. With the water collected I was able to supply a kitchen sink and a shower. Our hot water on demand system works well for the shower. There is a gravity operated sink just outside of the privy. The perfect place to capture or recapture tranquility. An unplugged space for a clear mind, we take pride in being free from WI FI, hydro electricity and cell service is scarce. Signals vary in the forest depending on your server. Our forest house has a cozy, comfortable and unique ambiance. A wood stove for those chilli nights and mornings. An antique, but well functioning ice box. A cozy reading loft, cribbage board, cards and dice. Parking is off the dirt road and about 200 meters from the forest house. It’s a short and lovely walk. We use our UTV to get to and from the forest house and are more than happy to carry your belongings for your convenience. You can shut the gate for a sense of complete privacy once you’re in. Jacobs Landing lies next to Long Sault Creek and its Wetlands. We’ve made sitting spots along the marshland for birdwatching. Barbers lake is situated across from the main house (a ten minute walk). It’s a beautiful spot to spend some peaceful time on the water. A quant quiet lake with little population, no seadoos or speed boats make it a perfectly peaceful body of water with ample wildlife. Whether you enjoy fishing or just enjoying the great views and peaceful tranquil paddling you will certainly enjoy Barbers Lake. Don’t forget your camera! We have a barbeque outside and a two burner propane cook top inside. If you’re staying in the cooler seasons the woodstove works nicely for warming up soup and heating water. We offer a fire pit when there is no “fire ban”. Feel free to gather dead wood in the forest, and we offer wood for sale. When the “ban” is on, or the mosquitoes are annoying. Enjoy a lit screened Gazebo. There will be a visible notice posted in the forest about fire status. We take very much pride in what we have built, it truly is a place of tranquility. My greatest reward will be sharing this with you. I strive to be a great host. This is all new to me, I look forward to meeting you all and welcome your feedback. Available for June 2024

A tranquil sanctuary of peace and solitude to soothe the soul, Simcoe Island is a bird watcher paradise, so close to the city of Kingston yet a world where time has stopped. Accommodations are a 16’ x 20’ prospector wall tent, set up with queen size deluxe air mattress, bunk bed and single cots for extra guests. We have a food prep table, dishes, frying pan and cooking pot, a small microwave, single induction cooktop, small bar fridge and a kettle and coffee maker. You can eat your meals at the picnic table inside the tent or at the outside picnic table. There is a kerosene heater for cooler nights and a wood pellet stove which will heat the tent during the winter months. An outdoor dishwashing station is available with on demand hot water. We have a basic dug privy. There are bicycles available to use to explore the island and there are 3 kayaks and 2 canoes for paddling in the sheltered channel and the lake. Fishing generally is good. Ferry toll is $10 for a return trip and the ferry from downtown Kingston to Wolfe Island is free. Linens and sleeping bags are available if requested . FALL and WINTER CAMPING at Windpsalm: Kerosene and/or wood pellets costs will be discussed prior to or upon guests arrival during the fall and winter months. The pellet stove's fan tends to be a bit noisy but it does a good job of making the tent warm and comfortable. Fen stayed in the tent in February when the overnight temperatures were -25C and the inside temperature on the back wall was 18C. Fen's grandchildren are also regular winter campers at Windpsalm. We can also provide a few sets of snowshoes and if requested a popup ice fishing hut. In the event that the snow is too deep for your vehicle, we will transport our guests to the tent in our farm John Deere Gator.

As mentioned, there is about a 40 ft incline just as you approach the clearing down by the lake . Please wear running/walking shoes and descend slowly down either of the 2 trails provided. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc.  There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge.  This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge.  An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake.  The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.

Lisa is a wonderful host — calm, friendly, and with great communication throughout our stay. Her hospitality and attention to comfort were amazing. She kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. It was a bit cold during our visit since there’s no electricity in the caravan, but Lisa made sure we had enough warmers to stay cozy. The propane stove worked perfectly, and the kitchen was well-equipped for making coffee and tea. We probably chose the wrong season — early fall or summer would be ideal — but the cold was still manageable for us. Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful location, it’s as quiet as the description makes it out to be. The campsite area that was provided was well kept and tidy. Some of the amenities were not available due to the lateness of the season and were disclosed prior to arrival. It’s a pull-in site that I feel limits the overall length of vehicle and trailer to get brother location so I’d recommend you check with the host about that if you’ve got a larger rig and may need to coordinate things. I’m relatively new to backing in trailers and I got it parked without any damage (and no spotter). I didn’t have an opportunity to explore the land as much as I wanted, there’s so much to explore. Eric was very welcoming, and provided ample firewood.

Monica is fantastic host. The campsite is clean. The yellow chalet is cute. Each cottage houses have there own personalities. They have the stuff you need for cooking and fire pit. Access to the water is good. Good for swimming boating and fishing. The hiking trails are marked. Highlly recommended if you like nature away from city noises.

Weekend Trip to Bushwood!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side. This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands. Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope. On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

My family and I had an amazing experience at Scott's campsite. We had no issues getting our 17ft trailer in. We were hoping for a secluded campsite and that's exactly what we got. No one in site and was so peaceful. Absolutely beautiful spot. Came with a BBQ and Propane! As well as kayaks and life jackets. Outhouse was clean and came with toilet paper. Campfire came with firewood and Scott even offered to bring us more if we ran out! So close to the town of westport (2 min drive) which has everything you need if you run out of anything, as well as a beauotful spot to walk around. We are already looking forward to camping there again next year!

Weekend Trip to The Ridge Retreat

We had a great time at The Ridge Retreat! The campsite is beautiful, well-maintained, and the views are amazing. The fire pits were perfect, and we really appreciated how easy it was to set up camp near the road at the top of the hill. That spot is very convenient for loading and unloading gear, though being close to the road does mean you’ll occasionally hear passing cars and nearby dogs. Next time, we’d probably choose a spot closer to the water for more privacy and atmosphere. The trail leading down to the water and lower campsites is long with steep inclines, so be prepared for a bit of a trek. We brought a wagon, which made transporting our things manageable—without it, carrying everything would’ve been tough. The dock and water setup are absolutely gorgeous. We spent most of our days down there soaking in the views, and our dog had the best time playing by the water. We didn’t swim ourselves, and while we didn’t catch any fish, just being by the water was incredibly relaxing. The host was wonderful—very friendly, accommodating of our late arrival, and made sure we had plenty of firewood. Overall, we’d definitely recommend The Ridge Retreat to anyone looking for a scenic, peaceful camping experience with a balance of convenience and adventure.

What an amazing property! The site was exactly as described. We needed for nothing. Victor brought by brand new camp chairs for us and sweetly asked, "Can I come in?" when he arrived at the site with them. We loved the trails. We spotted a porcupine, a deer, an owl, heard raccoons, beavers and countless frogs and birds. We will be returning!

This is our second visit this summer to Tiny Village Woodlands. Such a nice park! Very clean and well cared for. We loved this site. It is a large site, with good privacy. It has an upper and lower level which is right on the water. The incline between the levels is steep, which may not work for some but was fine for us. Monica is a great host, very friendly and accessible if you need anything. We have nothing but good things to say about our visit.

Weekend Trip to Wilderness Trails At Sumac

Amazingly private. There's a rec centre and rental cottage also on the property but out of sight and ear shot of the campsite. Convenient bathroom with a shower at the rec centre within a 1-2 min. walk. Victor was a great host and provided everything we needed. Had a fun paddle boat ride on the lake and loved hiking the long private trails. Some sections of the trails are tricky. Looking forward to spending a week there next summer.
