Totally off-grid, (no electricity or running water), this Bunkie is nestled deep inside a juglans forest (black walnut), within 74 acres of a certified organic fruit and nut farm located on the historic Rideau Canal. Enjoy the peace and quiet as you explore the trails found throughout the farm. Birds and wildlife abound on the property and often provide great photo opportunities. If you want tours of the farm orchards, they can be arranged with owner, Dorothy! There are beautiful views of the Brass Point Swinging Bridge on the canal and a tranquil private bay with herons, swans, ducks and geese where you can sit and rest. This site is located within a short drive to many of eastern Ontario’s tourist destinations. Hike Rock Dundar or Frontenac Provincial Park and experience their magnificent vistas. Visit the Opinicon Resort at Chaffey’s Lock for an ice cream. See the Thousand Islands on a Gananoque boat cruise, experience a sunset ceremony at Old Fort Henry, hop on the Kingston Trolley and tour the many historic sites in the Limestone City. There is so much to see and do. We invite you to enjoy nature’s beauty relaxing in a hammock, roasting marshmallows over a crackling campfire or just chilling as you escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. As mentioned already, this is an Off-grid site with no power. Potable water and basic necessities are provided. Pets are welcome but please clean up after your fur baby. Pets are welcome.  An outhouse, washroom, and open-concept shower with cold water are available. There are spots to build campfires, and firewood is available for purchase for a minimal fee. Cooking equipment is also available from the hosts upon request.  Tamworth is about 10 km away and has few shops and food options; Napanee is 30 minutes south with more restaurants and stores. Lions Beaver Lake Park is just 15 minutes southwest and is a great place for swimming, fishing, and walking. Or head to Centennial Park at Varty Lake, about 25 minutes south.

Off grid cabin for rent Our newly renovated off grid cabin is situated on 200 acres of land. There is a queen size bed, as well as a single over double bed. It is heated with a propane fireplace, so you wake up cozy warm. There is a propane stove and BBQ for cooking. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes pots & pans, and utensils, as well as some basic supplies. (Coffee, tea, sugar, hot chocolate) The cabin is powered with solar and batteries, with generator back up, so we ask that you be mindful of how much power you use. There is no running water in the winter, but we will provide potable water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. There is a fire pit with wood for burning. An outhouse is on site. Suitable trails for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, when conditions allow. There is access to some lovely 4wheel trails as well. In the summer there are lakes that are close by,(15 minute drive), for swimming and fishing. When conditions allow, there is ice fishing as well. In the early spring we produced maple syrup. It gets quite busy with people helping us, but you can see how maple syrup is produced. The sugar shack is across the road from the cabin. There are no guarantees that we will be making syrup on the days of your stay….that is up to Mother Nature. There is a winery located near Tweed, and Prince Edward County is about an hours drive from the cabin.

A great place to unwind and unplug and gettaway and sip your favourite beverage, watch the stars, listen to the resident owl hoot and poke the fire 🔥 The LOVE Shack cabin is about a 8 min hike in from the parking area , build in the middle of the woods complete off grid with outhouse. The smaller cabin great for a couple. The BEAR Necessities CABIN Is off grid with outhouse on a small hill at the edge of the woods about a 16 min hike in from the parking area. Larger cabin good upto 4 people The abundance of wildlife , birds , turkeys , owls, deer, and other native Ontario wildlife. It’s very common to see deer and turkeys and hear the hoot and howl of the coyotes. The cabins are year round fully insulated with beautiful real wood stoves. Both have custom built queen size bunk beds complete with pillows , sheets, duva Both stocked with dishes, silverware, cooking pots and pans , bbq and cook stoves . Everything you need just bring your food and your favourite beverage Fire wood can be purchased on site at the cabin No running water. All water is supplied in jugs , 12 volt electric lighting.
