There is a lake about 12 min drive from us with a nice beach. We will provide a pick nick table and can set up a badminton net as well for those that like to have a badminton game. A short walk from us a small Catholic country church, and you can walk to the Slate River Bridge on Hwy 608 and on Hwy 61.

C-O-G is located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario. This beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest (situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais), has been in the family for generations. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and more, with many other outdoor tourism attractions (white water rafting ~15kms, Parc Omega (zoo)) located nearby. By paddle boat, canoe, or other similar shallow depth water craft, one can head upriver, around an island, and loop back through the remaining historic canal. ...It's a historic lazy river! Many amenities are only 1-3km away, such as a gas station (with fast charging), a grocery store and many restaurants including a Tim Hortons and McDonalds. A little History... Our property has played host to a small portion of the rich history of this area which included three railway tracks, a canal and a lock. The railway beds remain and the lock has simply been flooded over. Following the war of 1812, three Ottawa river canal systems were constructed between 1819 and 1833 to bypass the Long Sault Rapids on the Ottawa river. These canals were in use until 1961 when a large portion of the canal system was submerged due to the construction of a hydro-electric dam (~22kms downriver) at Carillion. As a result, the river level at our property rose high enough to submerge the top of the lock walls by ~3.5 feet. This submerged lock is located a few hundred feet offshore and can be seen using Google Earth as it measures 50' x 300' in size. Once you have a good idea where it is, throw on your water shoes and a life jacket and enjoy an interesting experience of walking on the walls of a submerged lock.

Our land is 25 Acres of pristine old growth forest in the Canadian Shield. The terrain is quite varied and makes for a beautiful mix of Trees, Granite and Sand. Many pine trees are so large, you cannot wrap your arms around them. The majestic tree canopy is almost 100' tall. There are several trails throughout the property with streams, rock ridges, marshes and ponds.

Come and enjoy a traditional/rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa river. Be sure to bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak, or you may rent one of ours. C-O-G is located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario. This beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest (situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais), has been in the family for generations. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and more, with many other outdoor tourism attractions (white water rafting ~15kms, Parc Omega (zoo)) located nearby. By paddle boat, canoe, or other similar shallow depth water craft, one can head upriver, around an island, and loop back through the remaining historic canal. ...It's a historic lazy river! Many amenities are only 1-3km away, such as a gas station (with fast charging), a grocery store and many restaurants including a Tim Hortons and McDonalds. A little History... Our property has played host to a small portion of the rich history of this area which included three railway tracks, a canal and a lock. The railway beds remain and the lock has simply been flooded over. Following the war of 1812, three Ottawa river canal systems were constructed between 1819 and 1833 to bypass the Long Sault Rapids on the Ottawa river. These canals were in use until 1961 when a large portion of the canal system was submerged due to the construction of a hydro-electric dam (~22kms downriver) at Carillion. As a result, the river level at our property rose high enough to submerge the top of the lock walls by ~3.5 feet. This submerged lock is located a few hundred feet offshore and can be seen using Google Earth as it measures 50' x 300' in size. Once you have a good idea where it is, throw on your water shoes and a life jacket and enjoy an interesting experience of walking on the walls of a submerged lock.
