River rock point camping spot
Great spot, nice area. Really enjoyed our time. Water was nice and clean. Only thing don't arrive in the dark a little difficult to find the spot. But we loved it.

Honest Experience- We recently stayed at this campsite. Pros: The site is in a nice location right beside the water! The rock area near the water is lovely nice spot to relax/swim. The rocks have clam shells (dog cut his paw). The site is private, fire pit was nice. The host messaged about the canoe. No cell service-didn’t get the message. Cons: Bugs: When people say the bugs are bad, they’re not exaggerating. We were constantly swarmed (and were overly prepared). The buzzing sound from arrival to departure, through the night.
NO service- tricky when we were trying to locate the canoe (never found it) couldn’t reach the host. Access Road: The 1km drive into the site is rough, essentially off-roading.
Sleeping Surface: Very rocky surface, sleeping on the ground would be uncomfortable. Swimming Access: access to the “swim area” is tricky-climb through swampy/uphill rocks, Once you reach it, the spot is lovely and deep. Firewood: bring wood. around the site is wet, takes a lot of effort to find enough dry wood to cut up.
Left early. (bugs and the physical strain from the terrain) We did enjoy fishing/ time spent by the rock. Overall: likely wouldn’t return, site offers a very remote and rugged off-grid experience.

Beautiful site I will definitely come back to again in the fall! Love it for cycling on the K&P down to Sharbot Lake, the trail is perfect and the scenery is great, the mosquitos were getting pretty bad but that’s hard to avoid in this area.

Great spot for camping, the weather was not on our side three of the four days however we made the best of it and took an amazing canoe ride on the nice day out to the falls and hung out there all afternoon it was perfect, also 2 minute short walk from the site is a large Rock sticking out into the water that's perfect for swimming, you must bring bug spray the mosquitoes are definitely your best friend on the site unfortunately. My only recommendation to the host would be to put a picnic table on the site as this can become so handy when camping for a few days.

This was a fantastic weekend of camping on the Mississippi River. J has carved out an amazing chunk of his waterfront for tent camping. There's a short walk to the swimming rock, where we hung out most of the day swimming, fishing and paddleboarding. We couldn't arrive until later in the evening, so J had a fire ready to light and wood to start off with. We saw lots of wildlife and caught some nice bass. Definitely would recommend this spot. Thanks for a great trip J!

I enjoyed staying here for the weekend. I came with extended family and we set up 2 tents.
Fire pit was well established, seating was abundant, views were excellent and the atmosphere was quiet and appropriate. There was more than enough free firewood, as well as a fire starter kit provided.
Fish is abundant in the river so during the few hours I took to fish there was no 10 minute time window without a bite.
My family really enjoyed paddle boarding as the river is calm with lots of nooks and shady spots along shore.
Water was very clean and warm, and we swam multiple times through out the day.
Host's instructions were impeccable and the accommodations were as described.
For the next visitor I would recommend bringing abundant bug spray if this kind of thing troubles you.

The view was superb and it was very private. We had a deer visit it on our last morning, which was an amazing surprise! Everything was well communicated and we had no issues. Would definitely stay here again.

River rock point camping spot
Stayed at rock point site over the long weekend. Black flies and mosquitoes were fierce but we still enjoyed ourselves. Nice spot. Room for our truck camper with no issues. Nice firepit and the rocky point was an excellent spot to relax in the sun and great swimming . Made use of the canoe which was nice. About a kilometre in on a grassy road so very private. Would definitely book again.

What a sweet, magical spot!
River Rock Point was exactly what I needed for a quick, little camping getaway! Clean, quiet, plenty of room to spread out and explore the fascinating property!
The road in was a bit ambitious for my little car, but with care, we managed just fine.
Once we arrived at the site, I was struck by the tranquility and beauty… and every little path I explored revealed even more—the rock point actually brought me to tears!
J was a pleasure to communicate with—quick replies, pleasant advice and info. I absolutely recommend, and will aim to return again for a longer visit!

Loved my experience at river rock camping! It is the bigger site of the two.
J was very quick to respond to any questions before and during my stay which is very reassuring. The land is nice to explore and gave us things to do during the day.
The portion of the lake were on is very quiet and peaceful with a few neighbours across the lake. Its a nice body of water, i would suggest water shoes to make getting in and out easier.
Highly recommend this spot for a nice quiet getaway!

There is quite literally no better campsite than this. This was our second time camping here and we loved it so much that my partner actually proposed to me on the rock this past weekend!! So picturesque and such great memories. Thank you so much to J and his family who rent this site out and are more than accommodating with trip adjustments, etc. It’s our dogs favourite place to go!

We had a great long weekend at River Camping and J was able to answer all our questions quickly.
The site is on a small point of land right on the water, which is beautiful. The bush road leading to the site/water was long and hilly, but our little popup camper made it and we were able to turn around without too much trouble. With the way the firepit and road are situated, the site itself is not really big enough for much more than a tent and dining tent, unless you're able to park/setup on the road (which blocks access to the family's cottage, a short way down the road). Thankfully, the weekend we stayed, the family was not using their cottage and we were able to block the road. The dock worked well for us, but it is not level and if you have any walking or stability issues, it could be a real challenge. The outhouse was standard but not really smelly, which was a bonus. The horseflies and mosquitoes were vicious during our stay and we were grateful that we had the popup trailer to retreat to, after the sun set, each night.
The location is wonderfully quiet and peaceful; we encountered a lot of wildlife, but very few people. We enjoyed kayaking on the river and playing near the waterfall and on the rapids.
We'll definitely consider returning, if we can arrange a weekend where we can park on/block the road again, as it made for a wonderfully secluded getaway. Thank you, J!

This is a beautiful little spot and truly in nestled into the country. The view of the water is BEAUTIFUL! The out house is a small walking distance for your convenience. The host was very accommodating and the guests at the other site across the water were lovely, they did not disturb us at all! Please note that site 1 is quite small as there is actually a road that passes through the site to gain access to a cottage farther down the road, so if you have a bigger tent or more than one, this may not be the ideal location for you. We were very fortunate that the host allowed us to block the road to accommodate our two tents! His description is accurate as he did state 1 small tent, it was our fault for seeing photos and thinking we would fit! The host generously left some fire starter materials in the pit for us which was great for getting us going. Make sure you bring bug spray and the good stuff, the mosquitoes are already out! Overall would recommend this site for a small family our couple with one tent 🏕️

Spent 3 days at this wonderful property. If one word could sum up our stay it would be "Amazing".
The property is wonderful to explore both on foot as well as by water. Swimming is fantastic and we were greeted in the morning by 2 beautiful deer that decided to stroll through our campsite while we enjoyed our morning coffee.
The owner was very helpful and respectful of our wishes for privacy. We are already planning our next stay.

My partner and I and our pup had a lovely time on this gorgeous property. It was like we were in a provincial park but we had it all to ourselves, what a treat! We spent a lot of time sitting in the sun on the swimming rocks and paddling around in the canoe (having a canoe was a huge perk of the property for us!) Thanks so much for letting others enjoy your property, we appreciate it very much.

Owner was very accommodating and friendly. Lots of space to camp. Our first day was a rain storm, and there was many trees to tie tarps so we could create some cover! Canoeing was fun. Saw some wildlife. Lake was beautiful to swim in. We had a great time.

Really great spot on the river. We camped right by the river as the ground was fairly even. Beautiful sunsets and really clear water. Just be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes! It was great the land is gated as you felt safe no one was just going to be coming by. Beautiful land! Hope to be back again next year !

I would like to start by saying, this property is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed exploring the land and water. I would highly recommend taking the canoe out and following the hosts directions to the natural waterfalls and rapids.
We spent a portion of our honeymoon here, the first stop on our trip camping across Ontario. We set up our Pop up trailer in the flat area by the water, which provided amazing views. We brought our 2 dogs (lab and Chesapeake) who enjoyed swimming (as did we).
My only negative review about this location- was from our first night there. My husband was startled when a woman walked through our camp site (unannounced) which was very unexpected as the property seems very secluded. She stated that she would be swimming, confused- he asked if she had permission to swim here as we knew that it was a private property. She then disclosed that she was the property owners mother. My husband stated that it was no problem, but asked if she could announce herself or something the next time- as she was walking through what would be our “living room” the next couple days, and also because we have 2 dogs who don’t startle well (like most people). I was actually away from the site walking the dogs at the time, they were not present. This escalated to her asking my husband if our dogs would attack her- obviously the answer was no. Our dogs are very friendly- they would likely bark if startled though.
Later that night, we received a message from the property owner asking us to pack up and leave by morning as their mother told them that we threatened to not control our dogs and that they would “terrorize” her, and that she walked back to their cottage in fear of being attacked. This of course was not true- as she seemed to enjoy her lengthy swim while we patiently waited to return to our campsite. I’m not even sure she would tell you what colour our dogs were. All in all we my husband was able to message the host- explaining our situation and that we had driven a far ways to be here for the first stop on our honeymoon. He agreed for us to stay and swept the misunderstanding under the rug which we were very thankful for- as I was almost in tears when he asked us to leave. So please consider this if you plan to camp with dogs as we felt we needed to tip toe around. Our dogs are family dogs and extremely friendly.
All in all- our stay was beautiful, the land was beautiful and the rest of our trip well enjoyed.

Great camping spot. It was really quiet and private. Some really good swimming once you find the rock point. Water shoes are highly recommended. The bush road was quite overgrown so ensure you have a suv with ground clearance. Overall a great spot. The host was easy to communicate with and responsive

We loved it here. We chose to use the little spot by the rocks to set up most of our camp. Slept by the field at the entrance since it was the most level. We spent most of our time on the water or in it. Swimming, Kayaking, and Fishing. My husband caught so many Bass. Neighbors around the lake were quiet and respectful as were others boating nearby. Entertained by the Loons daily. Even saw a few deer on our way out. We would love to come back sometime soon.
