Tent/Camper Camping by the Ocean!

1 site · Tent2 acres · Head Of Jeddore, NS
Learn more about this land: Nestled in a quaint old Fishing Town is a 2-Acre Forest property, that hadn’t been touched since 1885! This land overlooks the North Atlantic Ocean, with a 25ft bank at the edge of the property, and almost 100ft of private stone beach! No hydro, or running water on this property (yet) - but 10 minutes by car you’ll find a Sobeys, a Home Hardware, and small local shops. A driveway was recently put onto the property so now all campers can drive right up to the site instead of trudging through the forest! There is currently a Tiny Home on the property being built. Feel free to pitch your tent, or park your van, behind the Tiny Home that way you could be blocked from the wind that might come off the ocean - if there is a storm coming in. Camper-vans are welcome on the property! I haven't been able to select both tents, and motor vehicles yet as options. Enjoy the peace and quiet under the stars, and fall asleep to the sounds of the waves breaking against the shore, and the leaves rustling in the breeze. __________ As of now, I do not have an accessible toilet. The land is in process of getting the hydro hooked up, and water is being tested. Under the deck of the Tiny Home there is a plastic table, and two plastic side tables. Feel free to use them. There is a large, black, garbage bin outside the tiny home, feel free to put your own garbage bag in there - but please take your garbage with you (as the city only collects one garbage bag on rotating weeks, and I cannot predict ahead which week it will be for you). Thank you!

Murphy's Camping on the Ocean

35 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents13 acres · Tangier, NS
The Wild Islands, 100 Wild Islands, Wild Islands Coast. Regardless of the name, we couldn’t be more lucky to have this pristine wilderness at our fingertips. Considered to be “The most valuable islands you’ve never heard of”, the archipelago is one of the last remaining intact and ecologically rich island groups of its size in North America. We want to share it with you… responsibly. As members of 1% for the Planet and Leave No Trace Canada, we’re committed to conserving the islands and helping others to do the same. We believe that people can only fully appreciate the islands’ unmatched beauty and conservation value by experiencing them firsthand. Murphy’s Camping on the Ocean has been operating on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore for over 60 years! This makes Murphy’s Camping one of the longest-running campgrounds in Nova Scotia. Our campground lands began as a coastal fishing settlement where you’ll still find a fisherman’s wharf and the old salt fish tanks from years past when schooners would load this cargo bound for the New England market. Over the years the Murphys have provided services such as schooner supply runs, rum running, moon shining, boat building, blacksmith services, farm produce, and sport fishing.

Big Blue On The Bay

1 site · RV, Tent4 acres · Maitland, NS
"Big Blue" sits atop a lawn covered hill on the shore of the Cobequid Bay. A grove of fir and pine trees offer a sense of woodland solitude and fairies. The energy is magical. You can enjoy a front row seat or amble down over the lawn to sit on the end of the public wharf to watch the tidal bore squeeze into the mouth of the Shubenacadie River. It won't be long and you can marvel at the force of the water as it turns and begins to pour back toward the Bay of Fundy. Walk across the dyke to reach the oldest continually operating general store in North America - Frieze and Roy. Beyond the Wharf, a locally stocked craft shop borders us on the easterly side of the lawn. Next to it you will find Dawson Dowel Picnic Park, a playground and basketball court. On the westerly side of the driveway you there is a marsh area. The remnants of the shipyard where the WD Lawrence was built in the 1800's can be seen poking through the sand on the beach directly in front of the marsh. At low tide you can walk for miles in a westerly direction. Always be Tide Aware! Across the road from the marsh is the residence of WD Lawrence himself. It is a provincial museum. Directly across from Big Blue is a Ducks Unlimited pond. The sound of the geese and ducks can be heard 24 hours a day! There is a path that circumvents most of the pond. Adjacent to the Lawrence House parking lot there is an observatory where you can linger and watch the shenanigans of the occasional muskrat or possibly a beaver. The washrooms are accessed through a side door on the verandah of the main house. There are three showers and three toilets. If happen to be missing your "workout" there is a treadmill and exercise bike available to use. Outdoor fire regulations are strictly adhered to. There is a BBQ available for a small fee. Other perks (subject to scheduling) available at an additional cost might include: In-house Concerts; Reiki Sessions; Workshops and Ceremonies

The picturesque seaside community of Chester on the South Shore is located 40 Km away (30 Min Drive) from our house where you will find a Tim Horton, a few restaurants and a couple of smaller grocery stores. Local History Located in the heart of the province, Falls Lake, which borders our development and one our of private beach is located on, is the last in a chain of numerous lakes, which are the source waters for the Avon River. Falls lake is so named for the falls that once existed where the dam was built at the North end of the lake in 1926. Salmon could not jump the falls and spawned at the base. The dam increased the water depth up to twenty feet (approximately seven meters). Underneath this lake at the North end is Pugley’s Lumber Mill, built in the late 1800’s. Much lumber was cut in the Vaughan area and sluiced down Mint River and Mockingee Lake to the mill. Lumber was sluiced around the falls down Avon River to Windsor, where it was loaded onto boats for export. With the lake levels reduced by fifteen feet one can see the remnants of what was a very busy lumber camp. In the early 1900’s a forest fire started in the New Ross area and ravaged the mill and all the lands surrounding this lake extending to Martock. Spared were the trees on the South side of Mint River and others protected by bogs and favorable winds. This fire explains why there are few sizable evergreen trees on the lake. Hardwood like birch, maple, ash and oak are the first to reappear after forest fires. The softwood including the pines, spruce, fir and hemlock finally emerge years later. The bareness of hardwoods and the shape of the valley create a strong echo effect on this narrow lake. The rock type of Falls Lake area is mainly granite, creating the extensive bedrock and rock faces that are evident on the shoreline and surrounding hills. There is also rich mineralization in the New Ross/Leminster area, including West Falls. The Department of Natural Resources has an excellent map detailing minerals and their location. The most recent mining interest was 1979-1981, when uranium exploration was conducted on both sides of the Falls Lake by the Aquitaine Company of Canada. The Falls Lake area, Vaughan and Leminster are all areas of known uranium deposits. The extensive exploration on the West side resulted in a road starting at the entry now used by Falls Lake West development but continuing to the upper Levy Meadows still waters. A moratorium on uranium exploration prevented activation of mining sites in the early 1980’s. Hillside Haven (Havre à flanc de colline) est une propriété boisée de 3,5 située sur le côté est d'une colline dans un développement d'association de propriétaires privés situé à mi-chemin entre Windsor et Chester sur la route 14.
