We are located on a quiet residential street 20 minutes from Port Alberni and en route to Tofino or Ucluelet. We have walking and mountain biking trails minutes from the house. If you are bringing a fur baby, please let us know. It must be on a leash at all times. Please bring your fur baby's favourite blanket or bed to sleep on. We kindly ask that you keep your fur baby off the furniture and bed, and that you please not leave your pet unattended. The Portal has internet and spotty cell service. There is an outlet for charging, etc. Parking is on-site. Local food options include the "The Fish & Duck Pub" which is just a short walk away. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

2 nights at Raysong Cabin and Camp Sites

Raysong's Quail Cabin was a sweet place to rest and reset. There's clearly been a lot of care invested into the space and it's also a dream to have the opportunity to hang out with well-loved animals. The hosts were gracious and responsive. We would definitely return if we visit the area again.

Stopped there for a night on our way back to tofino and couldn’t have been better; View from the toom is awesome, love the full windows. Anything we needed was there, bed & linens was comfortable and we had a great sleep. Andrew was also super welcoming and took time to show us the place. 100% recommend ☺️

Absolutely wonderful little cabin, and Rose is a fantastic host. Cozy, cute, clean, with a view of both the cows and horses ! We even made use of the grill. Would recommend to everyone.

Weekend Trip to Portal Retreat

Lovely stay by the lake! It was cozy and the host was super responsive and nice. It was camping without the hassle and with all the creature comforts. Aside from the lake, the location is a great jumping off point for so many hikes! There are some restaurants nearby as well, if you get tired of cooking and you can easily get to town in 10 mins if you need more supplies. When we went, there were no bugs and a few wildlife sightings (woodpecker and deer). The porch was a great place to hang out.

The stay with Heloise at this location was very convenient for me! It was right by the galloping goose trail. The kitchen was very cute and the bed cozy (though small) . We slept easily and it was very quiet. The outdoor shower was really cool, good water pressure and was nice and hot. I’d stay here again in the off season.

Weekend Trip to Nature’s Way Yurt Sanctuary

Everything was better than I expected. I had a late night arrival and Kait was very accommodating to that. I was given very clear and easy directions to get to the yurt. The lights were on in the yurt when I arrived so late. Kait offered clear instructions for how to use the amenities, such as the wood stove, the sauna/hot tub/cold plunge tub -which was a perfect addition I used to a post run treat! Everything from availability, helpfulness, cleanliness, accessibility was amazing and my top Hip Cam experience thus far. To top it off I really enjoyed having a cute furry kitty visitor every night! Truly a whimsy stay for my quick trip to Victoria :)

What a charming little stay! Everything from the delightfully covered outdoor kitchen to the fantastic forest-esque shower was so much fun! The host really went above and beyond to ensure the amenities were all there without sacrificing the connection to nature. Absolutely loved it!
