Nestled in the heart of the Tamihi Recreational Area, just 20 minutes from town, our property offers a rare blend of seclusion and adventure. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest & bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise.
Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer & fall & world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just 5 or so minutes away. You can ATV right out of our gate onto unlimited logging roads and trails or hike the Trans Canada Trail 3 blocks from our gate.
There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the picnic shelter. There is a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for protection due to a drop-off & undercut banks.
ATV's are idle in - idle out.
QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them and not leave them unattended.
LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights.
CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times!
FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full & is available between 9 AM and 8 PM.
BEEF and EGGS: We have grass-fed Black Angus beef jerky for sale (this cow was treated as a pet until her time & was dispatched on the farm to avoid stress). We occasionally have eggs from our pastured chickens.
Our free-range kind, gentle horses also wander the property. Any interactions with them are at your own risk! The gate must be kept closed because of them.
If you prefer, we have 6 bare-bones fishermen's cabins. All the details are on my Tamihi Meadows site under "Cabins".

We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning.
Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway.
We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas.
There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

We are an RV-only campsite. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included.

We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes.

With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner.

We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need.
To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. We are situated on a 1.5 acre plot, set amidst rural surroundings. It is a very quiet and peaceful community set on the shores of the lake and surrounded by magnificent trees and greenery. There is limited bus service about a 20 minute walk away so a car is recommended. We are about a 25 minute drive away from Sidney, where most people will arrive by plane or ferry from the mainland, and also about 25 minutes away from downtown Victoria. The driveway from the street up to the front of our house is a paved sloped driveway and from there the access to the camping site is a sloped and curving dirt road. You don’t need a four-wheel-drive to get up it. We just want to be sure you are aware. The area itself is a level piece of ground to the side of our house. It is approximately 30 ' X 30 ', big enough for a small camper van and a tent. Please note it’s not a camping space like you would find in a provincial park. There’s no picnic bench or fire pit. In any case open flames are not allowed. Portable propane powered camping stoves are fine. We can supply a couple of plastic chairs and a small cocktail sized table. The facilities are comprised of a toilet in a small room in our basement and a utility sink just outside, accessed through the sunroom and down the back stairs. Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash or otherwise kept under control and not allowed to run loose. We have three cats ourselves, and they have access to the sunroom. We are just letting you know in case you are allergic. Also, we might occasionally sit in the sunroom ourselves and we don't mind you passing through on your way to and from the facilities, if you don't mind us being in there on occasion. There is no bath or shower available. You are advised to bring your own face and/or hand towels if needed. You also need to be prepared to take away your own recycling, garbage and organics.

Rod’s HipCamp site was absolutely delightful! A quiet spot in the woods with a lovely hiking trail to the water.
Rod was a tremendously affable host! He provided me with a propane firepit so I could sit outside and enjoy the evening. I told him I was interested in possibly setting up
a HipCamp site at my home in Shelton, WA. And he gave me a lot of good, positive information. He should be an ambassador for HipCamp! He really loves hosting people.
Another bonus: the amenities included a sewer and grey water dump and water.

This was such a cozy stay for our family. The site felt private and gave us the freedom to leave our camper behind while we explored town in the truck, which was a huge plus. It is close to the road, but traffic was minimal and honestly easy to forget about once we settled in. We really enjoyed our time here.

Very private spot on side of house! Lovely picnic table with afternoon sun was delightful. Rod provided a wonderful list of hikes to do and nearby restaurants. Due to my husband's mobility issues, we didn't walk to beach but did take in local Farmers Market on Sunday (worth it) and visited a couple of Rod's recommendations for beautiful scenery! Quiet nights! Would recommend!

We had a great stay with our campervan. The site is easy to find and level and the gravel “patio” and string lights were a nice touch. Quiet with minimal traffic and very close to the park. We would definitely stay again if we find ourselves back in the area.
