Outhouse on the property, which is just a pit toilet. It is a working farm so will likely have various equipment around at times as well as workers at certain times of the year. Otherwise, he thinks he has the run of the place! Please check to see if campfires are allowed (live in a high-risk fire zone) and firewood is available with an extra charge. If you need anything to better enjoy your stay, just let us know!

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful.
We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents.
There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna!
The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away!
Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed.

HEATING/COOKING:There is a wood stove for heat and cooking and wood is supplied and cold running water in the summer months. A wood burning BBQ is available for use and a huge upright smoker for your fish haul (bring your own propane cylinder).
BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months.
ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights.
WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter.
WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils.
YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away.
CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food.
ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer.
In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery.
We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you.
You have access to the lodge property, lake, dock, trails, grass area and kayaks/floaties/paddle boards when available.

A cozy cabin with laid back elegance awaits.
The moment you step inside, you'll be surrounded by the warmth of this relaxed lakeside cabin. Some of the features are made from found beach wood and every piece has a story and it's as if the very soul of the lake is intertwined in the cabins design. The cabin has one queen size bed, a comfy sofa, extra large bar fridge, fan, delightful kitchenette and vintage wood stove.
The cabin in incredible but the outdoor 1950’s inspired kitchen will blow your mind. Stocked with the means to make a gourmet meal, you will want to use more than just the BBQ.

Free parking is located at the main house and then the 100 stairs to your paradise await. Please pack accordingly. You will have complete privacy from 8pm-10am as I restrict beach use during this time. The beach is massive and has plenty of space for privacy during the daytime and since there is another rental on the property you can expect 2 other cool people and myself to come down for dips, sailing and more.

Let's be real...when booking a lakefront vacation in BC it's all about the lake and Timothy Lake will not disappoint.
Timothy Lake is the perfect size, large enough to be unrestricted and offer great fishing, but small enough where you aren't always battling waves. As you venture from the shoreline you'll eventually loose site of the resort and soon find a public sandy beach, an uninhabited island, and a water channel connecting into Dempsey Lake. We've never heard that Dempsey is a great fishing lake, but it is a cool journey by paddle or small boat, and shows just how awesome the natural world is.....but watch for underwater branches throughout the channel cause a wrecked prop can make a good mad a bad mood - really quick.
Located off the beaten track, Timothy Lake is seldom used by weekend warriors and is never too busy - making it great for swimming, water skiing, fishing or just floating around in one of those giant inflatable flamingo's...... if that's your thing.

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful.
We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents.
There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna!
The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away!
Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed.

BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months.
ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights.
WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter.
WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils.
YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away.
CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food.
ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer.
In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery.
We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you.
You have access to the lodge property, lake, dock, trails, grass area and kayaks/floaties/paddle boards when available.

The space
A cozy cabin with laid back elegance awaits.
The moment you step inside, you'll be surrounded by the warmth of this relaxed lakeside cabin. Some of the features are made from found beach wood and every piece has a story and it's as if the very soul of the lake is intertwined in the cabins design. The cabin has one queen size bed, a comfy sofa, extra large bar fridge, fan, delightful kitchenette and vintage wood stove.
The cabin in incredible but the outdoor 1950’s inspired kitchen will blow your mind. Stocked with the means to make a gourmet meal, you will want to use more than just the BBQ.

Washing and relieving
Once you’ve had enough swimming for the day, experience the tropical on-demand outdoor shower. All the guests say it feels as if they are showering in Hawaii. The outhouse is sparkling clean and private.

The walls are adorned with a fusion of artistry including the entirely reclaimed wood on the walls and counter.
Beachside Paradise
Plunk yourself in a provided lawn chair, or take a dip in water, then get ready for the star show. With no dwellings on the other side of the lake, there is no light pollution here. Very special. Let the cool waters of Kootenay lake soothe your soul as you soak in the sights and sounds of the untamed forest around you. Oh, and don't forget the BBQ—grilling your freshly caught fish while surrounded by nature's bounty is an experience like no other.
Aqua playtime
There are paddle boards, and a vintage cedar strip canoe all available for your enjoyment. I also have a 16ft catamaran and fishing boat where you can book times with me if you desiring a little extra adventure, weather permitting.
Consciousness and responsibility
Please do not bring plastic water bottles. The water here is divine.
Also you are required to recycle and keep the beach clean and clear from buts and garbage at all times.
Fire pit
Who does not love a late night bonfire? Roast your dinner, poke the fire and relax as the lake reflects the dancing flames. Pretty magical.

Your cabin is perched on the edge of the crystal clear water, and you'll hear the waves crashing on the beach just steps away. It's the kind of view that makes you believe in the magic of the world. And the sunsets here are nothing short of spectacular.
Foodie's Dream
The Kitchen is fully equipped, comfortable, and spacious with a gas stove and oven, cooler, blender, orange juice press, toaster oven, stovetop espresso maker, as well as the coffee, sugar, olive oil salt and pepper. The local farms in this secluded paradise are where culinary dreams come true. The quality of the food here is beyond compare. Think fresh, think flavourful, think farm-to-table in its purest form. Enjoy fresh greens from my own garden. And drink the cleanest water straight from the tap which is provided by a high mountain creek. Best water in the world.

Guest access
Free parking is located at the main house and then the 100 stairs to your paradise await. Please pack accordingly. You will have complete privacy from 8pm-10am as I restrict beach use during this time. The beach is massive and has plenty of space for privacy during the daytime and since there is another rental on the property you can expect 2 other cool people and myself to come down for dips, sailing and more.

Let's be real...when booking a lakefront vacation in BC it's all about the lake and Timothy Lake will not disappoint.
Timothy Lake is the perfect size, large enough to be unrestricted and offer great fishing, but small enough where you aren't always battling waves. As you venture from the shoreline you'll eventually loose site of the resort and soon find a public sandy beach, an uninhabited island, and a water channel connecting into Dempsey Lake. We've never heard that Dempsey is a great fishing lake, but it is a cool journey by paddle or small boat, and shows just how awesome the natural world is.....but watch for underwater branches throughout the channel cause a wrecked prop can make a good mad a bad mood - really quick.
Located off the beaten track, Timothy Lake is seldom used by weekend warriors and is never too busy - making it great for swimming, water skiing, fishing or just floating around in one of those giant inflatable flamingo's...... if that's your thing.

We were there in October and we had the area to ourselves which was great, but it seemed the camping spot and Teepee were quite close to the cabin.

Better than advertise. The Kevin was new and clean. The wood stove kept us very warm and toasty. The firepit was well stocked with cedar cut offs .
Hot pool was extremely relaxing and had a great vibe.
We added a canoe to our trip and fished Gardom Lake.

Do you want to get off grid but are too lazy to pack all the things necessary to do so? Look no further! The Fairy House has everything you need to cook delicious meals (plates, forks, cooking utensils, pots, bbq grill with side burner), stay warm (hot tub, instant hot water shower, and wood stove in the house), explore outdoors with your dog companion/s (lots of land with cool mushrooms growing everywhere).
We booked The Fairy House last minute and were so stoked to find it fitting our every need: time to disconnect, stars, forest walks, and hot tub time.
We have been to Salmo before and love the area. Went to Nelson, hiked near Ainsworth and then sat in the hot springs. Kootenay Lake is always beautiful too, and grabbed some delicious food in Nelson on our last night.
I don’t want to miss the absolute beauty of the craftsmanship that is this little house, bathhouse, and outhouse. Seriously, bravo! Thank you for sharing it with others and we hope to come back again.

It was amazing! Comfy beds, warm and cozy space. Even though the highway is close, inside we couldn’t hear any traffic from outside :)
We would suggest some sort of lamp/light fixture in each bunk. Otherwise everything was perfect :)

Michele has a kind heart and her animals are as sweet as pea. Very relaxing. Plenty of wildlife activity to watch on the river (bears, jumping sturgeon, osprey carrying fish). And it’s a short drive into Hope from the cabin.
