Come and experience the dark sky preserve in our area that features an amazing opportunity to star gaze and to view the Northern Lights.
We have 8 campsites available for tent, van, small motorhome, and small trailers.

We offer firewood upon *availability* for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of wood. Please note that supply may be limited at times, as well as our availability, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability.
Pets welcome on leash and owners are responsible for clean-up.
This is a camper-maintained campground.
Please take your trash with you at the end of your stay.
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled food. Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter.
There is a toilet available for campers to use but no other amenities.

Quiet, majestic back to nature spot!
This is a place to get away from a busy life.
With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling.
Electricity and firewood are both available for purchase (see extras below). Please add this to your reservation at the time of booking.
Campfires are permitted, pets are welcome. Potable water, picnic table, and outhouse are all available.
We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs and cats on the property that
generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens and the cats so please keep and eye on your dogs!
Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking!
Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path.
We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon.
Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven.
Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :)
Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. The buildings are not new but they are well cared for. The outside and inside areas are clean and tidy, while also showing their age and good use…just like those of us who live here :D
The well water is plentiful, potable and very rich in minerals. It leaves orange staining and a white residue where the water sits (think toilet/shower/sinks). It is cleaned thoroughly.
I provide bottles of reverse osmosis water in all cabins for drinking and to use in kettles/coffee makers.
Shared full kitchen/washroom with shower available, walking trails (bush trails), screened shared gazebo, hammocks and picnic tables.
Now with a pool! (subject to conditions).
Separately, the ‘Beaver lodge’ and Camping sites are located down river on 5 acres of mowed grassland next to 10 acres of wetland. Room for multiple mobile campers.

Beaver lodge has sleeping (foam mattresses) for 4, camping stove, kettle, frypan, 2 chairs/table).

I had such a peaceful and memorable stay at Happy Hut in Sundre. I came here on my own with my dog, and it was the perfect little escape.
The views were absolutely beautiful, and I loved being able to slow down, enjoy the quiet, and take in the scenery. Geri and Pat were wonderful hosts — friendly, welcoming, and made the stay feel very comfortable.
The best part was probably seeing my dog make friends with Piper! It was such a sweet little bonus and made the stay even more enjoyable.
A beautiful place to disconnect, recharge, and enjoy some time in nature. I’d definitely come back!

My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay. Timothy was super responsive and hospitable. Campfire was the highlight of our trip since we were there for 1 night only, and Timothy kept plenty of firewood and advance instructions for us. The cabin was clean, had all kitchen amenities one could think of, and a very clean outhouse. I’d consider it again for winter camping.

My brother and I stayed at the Rest Nest from Thursday to Sunday. Awesome experience. The property is well maintained. The cabin is cozy and is pretty well stocked. The hottub itself, the area where it is located, and the community bathroom/shower areas are extremely clean and looked after. Large firepit is a vibe at night, with an incredible view of the starry night. The property has a solid amount of small trail walks, which is a cool addition to the property. Night time is an adventure, if you are brave in the dark, and can handle the intense silence. Dale recommended some solid places to check out, including a Freeman River spot, and Goose Lake Village. Those spots were a really nice addition to the trip, otherwise we probably would not have located them specifically. Dale took us down to the lake and set us up on our additional canoe adventure that we had added on to the stay. 2 hours on Goose Lake right at sunset, the water was like a mirror/glass. Extremely peaceful being the only ones on the lake. This would be a cool spot for a family gathering, friends, or reunion. It was a memorable and hilarious trip for my brother and I. We befriended a few badass farm cats, and some cool wildlife. Thanks again to Nature Alive Adventures. 🫡🤘🏻

This place was an amazing spot. We booked it with very little advance time, as we were driving to escape terrible weather in our other (Hipcamp) booking, a few hours away.
As soon as we arrived, we realized what an amazing location this was. We arrived late in the season, so we had the whole zone to ourselves. Private & secluded, yet with awesome views of the nearby mountains. We took a couple of cold plunges in Gladstone Creek - amazing.
The facilities are complete and well maintained. It's obvious that care, expense and effort have been taken to assure that the experience is unforgettable.
Small enough to be intimate, yet the infrastructure is completely dialled, rivalling any larger RV type resort.
The host was available, respectful and well organized.

We had a lovely time. The yurt was nice and spacious. It was a slight trek from the parking area to the sight but that made all the more secluded, private, and magical. There were a lot more amenities provided than we expected.
