Wheatland Shores Campground

The campground is in a nice location on a lake. Sunsets are beautiful. It is about an hour drive to Calgary. It is adjacent to a farm so expect lots of loud mooing. The big BUT are the multiple gopher holes throughout the campground. We were not warned about them, and they are guaranteed ankle busters if you step in one. Pit toilets near the back of the campground, regular toilets and showers closer to the front. They were fairly clean. It’s on a quiet road.

I love this site, between the cleanliness, the lake, the cows and the large sites. The hosts were very lovely and super friendly, esp since we came in the dark he helped us find the campsite by leasing us there since we couldn't find it. I will definitely go agian. Thank yo.

I enjoyed camping here, 1st time in our new trailer. Excellent accommodation and lovely sites with lots of room. Definitely would camp there again in the future, highly recommended.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

It's not a nice campsite, the bathrooms need a lot of renovation. They never told us that we couldn't make a fire, no sign at the entrance and fire pits on our land so we decided to make a fire, they arrived to put out our fire telling us that they would have could call the police and evict us from the campsite, we are from Quebec and we do not know that in Alberta you cannot make a fire. It was a very unpleasant experience. My rating 0/10 and we left a day faster than expected.

I loved the site we were assigned, me and my sister went down for a weekend and enjoyed it so much we stayed another extra day, we can’t wait to go back. The staff that were on site were super to talk to always making sure everything is good. Plus the showers was a bonus, and the lake also.

This is a very crammed in rv park with barely any trees. It’s actually the worst we’ve seen and looks nothing like this pic they have on Hipcamp. There were 3 dogs barking non stop and we could barely back into our site because there’s people tenting and chairs scattered almost in our site. The electrical is shared from multiple sites and you would need an extension cord that is very long to reach. We only have a 21 ft trailer so it’s not like we need a massive site but how these are set up makes it very hard to park even our small one. When I complained to the management not one thing was done and was told they would not refund anything. So we left, I would never book this place again and hope now that people can see a review since it’s new to Hipcamp and know what you’re getting before driving the 2 hours we did. Such a waste of our long weekend was so disappointing. I rarely write reviews but this one needed to be said.

Quiet place!

Lake View Camping Near the Calgary

We loved our experience at this piece of land! Ryan, the owner, was so responsive and helpful. The camp hosts were all amazing, welcomed us warmly and gave us all the info we needed to knoa around camp. The campsites are well-maintained, clean and pet-friendly. We only stayed a night, but thinking about going back for an extended stay!

We loved camping there even with eagle lake having blue algae in the management said they were gonna try real hard to find away to get rid of it the team taking care of the campground were VERY FRIENDLY also they would stop just to talk with you about anything the ladies at the store were taking ideas of stuff to bring into the store everyone you have to check out this campground we definitely will be back

Great Campground near Calgary

Site 13 - Water View - 30 Amp

Wheatiand Shores was already a developed campground when they joined Hipcamp. They have over 100 sites and are adding more. At all levels of services exist Hot showers are free for everyone! There is a Camp store wich sells ice, logs, snacks and games. We didn’t meer Ryan, but Jen was a delightful host. The camp is next to the beash at Eagle Lake, but its more for viewing than using as it is infested with bjue -green algae. Great place to camp, and photograph all those reflections in the lake.

Great Family Camping

Wheatland Shores campground was an excellent location for family camping. All the amenities nearby, including showers and toilets was great for the kids. Our site, 100, was on the edge of the campground so not much was stopping the winds, which made it a little more difficult to setup. Overall a great family campsite and great people running it!

Site 12 - Treed - 15 Amp

What a great campground! We were greeted with a smile at the office and after a quick check-in, pulled easily into a nicely treed and very spacious site 12. The gravel pad was nicely built up and extra levelling was almost un-necessary and hookups went quickly. The firepit was a tad far from the pad, but our chairs move and after an amazing sunset over Eagle Lake (lots of cameras came out for that, it was really something to see), we enjoyed a nice fire and a gentle breeze on a nice quiet night. No issues with power or water, if we were staying longer we would definitely have taken advantage of the free hot showers, and it was very nice to have a dump station on the way out, which had a water hose for a little extra rinsing I definitely plan to come back, next time earlier in the season before the summer heat takes its toll on the lake. Thank you Wheatland Shores, I look forward to seeing you again!

A nice treed campground with access to Eagle Lake. Older campsite but current owners are sprucing it up. Old but clean showers and toilet facilities. Well stocked camp store with basics. Very friendly and helpful owners.

Felt like home!

We stayed at site 44, it was perfect. The lake is full of algae, so no swimming in it, but the sunsets over the lake are still gorgeous. Just having a body of water nearby is soothing. The outhouse bathroom was very clean. The showers and flush toilets at the front were great (and free). The owners are very kind and accommodating. They drive around, collect your garbage, deliver wood, etc. All with a very friendly smile. After a very windy night, he even stopped to make sure I didn't blow away and offered to help me fix a broke pole. Great people, beautiful spot!
