Located only 45 minutes from Edmonton, 5km west of Onoway (grocery, fuel, car wash, dump station, restaurants). Forest Retreat is a good fit if you’re looking for something more ‘down to earth’.. humble AND comfortable, with great indoor and outdoor spaces. I have been an organic market gardener for 25 years and now am downsizing the farm to welcome visitors to experience the Land, cabins and event space here. I enjoy creating cozy, welcoming spaces that invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, relax, explore outdoors or stay in and recharge. The buildings are not new but they are well cared for. The outside and inside areas are clean and tidy, while also showing their age and good use…just like those of us who live here :D The well water is plentiful, potable and very rich in minerals. It leaves orange staining and a white residue where the water sits (think toilet/shower/sinks). It is cleaned thoroughly. I provide bottles of reverse osmosis water in all cabins for drinking and to use in kettles/coffee makers. Shared full kitchen/washroom with shower available, walking trails (bush trails), screened shared gazebo, hammocks and picnic tables. Now with a pool! (subject to conditions). Separately, the ‘Beaver lodge’ and Camping sites are located down river on 5 acres of mowed grassland next to 10 acres of wetland. Room for multiple mobile campers. ‘Rustic’ sites. Bottled water. No power. Beaver lodge has sleeping (foam mattresses) for 4, camping stove, kettle, frypan, 2 chairs/table). Bring your own everything else. Like camping but MUCH easier and enjoyable! No kitchen/washroom access. Pit toilet. Home to Willow, poplar and Spruce in a thriving ecosystem. Excellent Bird watching, abundant wildlife and access to the Sturgeon River (subject to conditions). Easily accessed, only minutes from a main highway. Nearby large lakes and rivers and hiking trails. Sun and shade, dark sky at night.

Campers welcome on our north east landing along the river. Very private open field space for vehicles and shady forested spots for tents. Wetland ecosystem and intact natural riparian areas give way to grassland and open field with bordering forested areas. Composting toilet (bucket) in nearby outhouse. Lac Ste Anne, Devils Lake, Pembina and Athabasca river nearby.

16x16ft cabin, partial walls, 360’ screened for complete bug protection. Top loft fits double futon, lower sleeping bench/pull out bed for 2. Located at the west shore of the river, over looking 10 acres of wetlands and riparian areas. Abundant wildlife including hawk, eagle, Raven, and high diversity of song birds in season. White tail deer, beaver, muskrats, mink and coyotes in the area. Think camping without the bugs and set up! Includes propane camp stove (bring your own small propane), kettle, frying pan, 2 camping chairs, folding table, drinking water and wash water. Bring your own..everything else. Propane fire ring available to use inside or out, for an extra fee. Outhouse nearby, camp toilet-bucket at the cabin. Private and secluded while still having easy access. Must love the sound of birds!

exactly what we needed… The birds and wildlife we’re exceptional peace and quiet an absolute great experience . just before we went to bed, we had a deer grazing 30 feet away from the 5th wheel . I would absolutely go there again!

We had an enjoyable weekend at the camping spot. We also liked how quiet the location was. It was a perfect getaway for our friends and us.
