Beautiful off grid dispersed camping on Lavaca Bay, steps away from the beach and marsh. Sunrises and sunsets are unobstructed from this location. Quiet and peaceful, yet just close enough to the local marina, shopping, and restaurants. Easy access to camp from Ocean Drive. Zero overhead hazards on property, ex. no overhead power lines or tree limbs. Excellent fishing on both the Lavaca Bay/ beach side, and the marsh side of the property. Bring your own kayak or small boat. Launch from the property or anywhere else near by. Shore fishing can be excellent at times. Bird enthusiasts will love the Magic Bird Sanctuary located directly behind the property. Bring your binoculars to get closer to the action. If you are looking for space, relaxation, beautiful scenery and the chance to wet a line, this may be the place for you. Carly's Bait and Boondocking will soon have a small bait shop. Until then, your host will provide you with bait, fish, and crab traps that will be located in the marsh. Feel free to take as much bait from the traps until the actual bait shop is up and running. We are just starting here, and more amenities will be available soon. Until then, please enjoy your stay, and "tight lines" to everyone.

Texana Park And Campground

Texana Park And Campground

0.2mi from Texana Park and Campground · 21 sites
Lake Texana stands out as a unique destination due to its expansive 10,000 acres of water and 125 miles of scenic shoreline, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Nestled on the Navidad River, just 8 miles east of Edna in Jackson County, Texas, this reservoir was created by the construction of the Palmetto Bend Dam, which began in 1968 and was completed in 1979. Managed by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority, Lake Texana serves as a vital source of drinking water for nearby communities and industries, being the only reservoir under the Authority's management. For fishing enthusiasts, Lake Texana offers a diverse range of fish species, including catfish, bass, and crappie, thanks to regular stocking efforts aimed at enhancing recreational fishing opportunities. The lake is also home to a variety of native plant species, such as coontail, spikerush, cattail, pondweed, bull's tongue, pickerel weed, and duckweed, which contribute to the area's rich ecosystem. However, visitors should be aware of three invasive species present in the lake: hydrilla, giant salvinia, and water hyacinth, with the giant salvinia currently limited to the Sandy Creek

Overview

About

As a gentle Texan breeze rustles through the cattails of Lake Texana, it almost sounds like they’re are calling your name -- if your name is “whoosh whoosh.” If it’s not, you should still come check this park out, seriously. Stocked with bass, catfish, and crappie, Lake Texana is an angler’s paradise -- bring a fishing pole and we pretty much guarantee you’ll be grilling some fish for dinner. For the fishing-adverse, try taking out your kayak or canoe on the lake’s designated paddling trail. The 1.64-mile trail winds around the still, sleepy coves that edge Lake Texana Campground. Back on land, while away a hot Texas day by hiking beneath the shady oaks on the park’s six miles of trails. Be sure to keep a lookout for wading shorebirds and soaring eagles; the park is known for excellent bird watching. And when the sun starts to set over the lake, you’ll have the perfect view from your waterfront campsite. So what are you waiting for? Lake Texana beckons you (not literally, of course, but you get the idea).
