BEFORE YOU ARRIVE PHONES: Phone reception is good, there is a Telstra exchange on the property. ROADS: Roads around the sites are unsealed, but most normal cars and the average SUV handle it okay. The road down into the Megalong Valley is tar sealed, very scenic but winding. ICE: Bring your own ice WOOD: Timber for fires can be purchased at reception. We are an environmental biodiversity precinct so don’t permit damage to vegetation. FIRES: Plenty of existing fire spots SHOPS: The township of Blackheath is 15klm away up on the Gt Western Hwy, none in the Valley SHADE: Plenty of shady areas WATER: We are on town water TOILETS there are 3 men's and 3 women's, plus 8 at reception, plus 2 in the Lodge. plus 3 in pioneer and 3 in corner paddock SHOWERS: 3 gas hot water showers in men's, 3 in women's, plus 2 in Lodge NOISE: Shutdown time for music is 10pm - no exceptions! but you can still enjoy the fires - quietly. We are 1.2 km from the township along the River Road. There are powered and unpowered sites for caravans and campers set in a rustic location. We are surrounded by the stunning valley views of Marra Marra National Park. Guests can enjoy hiking, wandering the orchard picking fresh produce, taking a tractor ride, feeding the animals and relaxing. Please note we are a working farm so sometimes tractors and vehicles can be heard working from 7am. There will be foot traffic and possibly tractor rides operating near some of the sites although we will do our best to respect your privacy while you are here. We also have a quarry surrounding most of the property, so they sometimes operate machinery early. This is not generally too disruptive though. We are just 15 minutes' drive from the beautiful historical Wiseman's Ferry and the Hawkesbury River. There are multiple hiking tracks located close by. We have several sites to offer around the property. We have a beautiful huge dam just 350m down the gully. It’s super peaceful although a steep walk down the driveway to access, it's definitely worth it, so pack your walking shoes and some swimmers.

Buxton Getaway

Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

There are also plenty of roads to ride and explore via mountain bike or foot. The road in is a little rough, and there is only a small amount of levelled land. But it is still an amazing spot, where nature does all the hard work, and I would love to share it with people. This is the perfect place for those who want to be in total peace and quiet, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Each campsite is private, where by you're the only camper able to book the site. Some are more private than others - Read each description for details. *Please note* access to the property is via Megalong Road - a narrow windy road, the only road in and out of Megalong Valley. Google maps can sometimes show options through Kanimbla Valley - This is not possible. Ensure you come in via Megalong Road.

Otford Park nr Royal National Park

Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance. Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ 1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times. 2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. Maximum length is approx 5m. Please scroll through the photos to see our amenities and camping sites. 3. We limit the number of people staying at any one time, so weekends book up quickly. That said, due to Covid and weather, people often cancel at the last minute too, so if we are currently booked out, it's always worthile checking again closer to the date for any availability. About

Set on the far outskirts of Sydney in New South Wales, Bents Basin is home to a spacious campground for you to set up for the weekend. Area highlights include bushland hiking up a steep escarpment to Caleys lookout, as well as a deep waterhole to float around on lilos. To the Traditional Owners of Bents Basin State Conservation Area, the Gundungurra, Dharawal, and Darug people, the waterhole is known as 'Gulguer.' In both Aboriginal history and settler history, the area has been an important trading and resting place, respectively. While you're there, keep an eye out for the rare Camden white gums, the beautiful and critically endangered regent honeyeater, and the glossy black cockatoo.

The only official camping spot in the park, Bents Basin Campground is a grassy and spacious area with access to toilets, showers, and barbecues, plus supplied drinking water and electricity.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Bents Basin campground requires advance bookings, so be sure to visit the official website before you go.
Midweek reservations are easiest to snag, and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service occasionally offers discounts to incentivise midweek travel.

When to go

Bents Basin State Conservation Area is gorgeous year-round. In winter you will need a good jacket, but on the whole, weather in the Sydney area is enjoyable throughout the entire year. Summer is perhaps the best time to visit, especially if you’re keen on swimming, fishing, and floating around on your lilo. But remember, summer is also the busiest time of year, so plan accordingly and expect larger crowds.

Know before you go

Bents Basin State Conservation Area requires daily park entry fees per vehicle. These fees are on top of your camping fees, meaning you need to pay for both park entry and camping.
Carry out all the waste you produce (except toilet waste as there are toilet facilities there)
Check fire restrictions before you go and only light a campfire if it's permitted at the time.
Don't bring your doggo along—they won’t be permitted inside the conservation area.
Parts of the area have limited mobile reception, so you can't always rely on your mobile phone for safety and information.
If travelling in summer, make sure you understand the bushfire risks. Evacuating from these areas during busy times of the year (public holidays and school holidays) can be extremely difficult, so plan ahead.
At times, Bents Basin State Conservation Area is closed due to weather events such as flooding or bushfires.
