Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

The Grass Tree Bush Camp is conveniently located just 2.5km north of Katoomba town center, so you can easily take advantage of all the upper mountain attractions in this amazing ‘World Heritage’-listed area. If we are booked out, we do have a couple of overflow sites (if you can't find anything else) that might suit your rig, so please reach out, and we will see if we can help out. Currently, we are only open on weekends due to family circumstances. Check-in is after 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon, with a late check-out on a Sunday by 5 pm. Preference will be given to 2-night bookings. If you are desperate for a 1-night booking, please reach out, and we will see what we can do. If you are planning on having a fire, please do not remove firewood from the surrounding bushland. As you can imagine, if campers did that, the atmosphere of the campground would quickly deteriorate. Please plan to bring some from home, purchase some from the local service stations, or alternatively, we can drop a 22+kg crate of mixed hardwood at your site for $20. If the latter suits, just let me know. However, it is ok to collect a small amount of kindling on site to start your fire. Fires are restricted to existing fire pits to minimize scars on the ground. If you prefer to bring your own fire pit, we ask that you leave no trace. Fires are only permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. We will communicate directly with you, in advance, if there are any upcoming 'Extreme' or 'Catastrophic' fire day warnings from the RFS. Please be extra vigilant around this as our community is only just recovering after the devastating recent fires. Fires are to be modest and discreet. Out of respect for our neighbors and other campers, please do not use a chainsaw at the campground. Please do not leave rubbish in your fire pit. Things like cigarette butts, cans, beer caps, and food scraps need to be taken with you. We pride ourselves on keeping the sites as pristine as possible and ask that you follow our 'leave no trace' policy. Note: There is no water on the property, so you will need to allow enough time to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. We have a unique 'BYO Hot water' shower for those looking to freshen up at the end of the day. Watch our instructional video to see how it works. You can find it on Instagram by typing in ''grasstreecamping'. The first image in the collection is the instructional Video. We have 5 unique sites (Site 3 & Site 5 are currently unavailable) that can accommodate various groups' needs. Site 1- Will fit a group booking of up to two small (or 1 large) size camping rig/s with two cars. Site 2- Will fit a group booking of up to two small (or 1 large) size camping rig/s with two cars. Site 3 - Not currently available Site 4- Will fit 1 large rig and/or multiple tents (on adjacent grassed area). Site 5 - Not currently available Site 6- This is a very long pull-through site and will fit 1 extra-large rig or multiple tents (on adjacent grassed area). Site 7- One caravan, camper trailer and/or tent + car. Only use the allocated area as indicated by campsite site colour on site map. The logs at each site define the site area; please do not drive through the grass clearing. Site numbers are on trees. Unless previously discussed, you are required to camp on the site you book and will be asked to move if you set up on another site. All traffic is to drive clockwise around the ring road. The site numbers correspond with this direction of travel. The campground is tranquil and has a large open, flat grassy clearing in the middle for family games. The secluded clearing is bordered by a Woodland forest with native flora like Waratahs, Xanthorrhoeas (Grass Trees), Orchids and Banksias. The property is home to many beautiful species of fauna like Gang-gang Cockatoos, Eastern Rosellas and the cheeky iconic Magpie, which will warble a warm welcome. The grassy clearing is occasionally frequented by Kangaroos at dawn and dusk. Just a stone's throw from the property, you have easy access to world-class lookouts and bush walks. If you are into climbing, canyoning, trekking, trail running, cafes, restaurants or walking along breathtaking National Park trails, then you will love visiting our area. If you are unfamiliar with the area, we recommend visiting the Information Centre at Echo Point to get all the information you need for your intended activities. This camp is perfect for groups/families wanting to have a campfire, a bit of space from other campers, and to have room for the kids to run around and kick a ball. There is a composting toilet on-site with toilet paper and Hand Sanitizer supplied. When you visit the toilet, after you have finished, please place 1 cup of Sawdust into the toilet after a wee, and 2 cups after a Number Two. This bulkage is a significant element to the success of the composting process. If you use the last of the paper on a toilet roll, the cardboard roll can be thrown into the toilet as well to be composted. If you think anything is not how it should be with the composting Toilet, please reach out, and we will come and take a look. Well-behaved pets are welcome, and we encourage you to keep your dog on a lead if they are likely to wander too far from your site and disturb the local wildlife or other campers. If you are interested in a longer free stay and are open to a trade for a small amount of labor each day, please reach out. There are always lots of things we need to get done, but we don't always have the time. Acknowledgement of Country: Our property is located within the Country of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. My family recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. Platypus Waterhole is rented out as one site exclusive to the booking. This exclusivity allows our guests complete privacy. We are located on a cattle property less that two hours out of the rush and business of cities. Our camping site is suitable for groups up to 20 people. The camp site is close to two creeks, Blackheath Creek and Little Stoney Creek where the protected Platypus are frequently seen, along with our wombats and kangaroos. Cox’s River is a ten minute drive suitable for swimming and fishing. We have a compost toilet, outdoor shower (restricted water) covered camp kitchen with tap water from tank, BBQ, fire pit indoors/outdoors, table, chairs, sleeping area, tent area, shade trees, picturesque site. . We charge all guests a one-off exclusivity site fee. This applies to all guests whether you book one night or seven nights. You need to add this to your booking. This is an exclusive private camping area on the beautiful Blackheath Creek. The camping area has a fantastic shelter/camp kitchen with internal fireplace, wood fired stove, sink, running water & a preparation area together with a gas BBQ & large dining table with bench seats. There is hot water and an open air shower. A long drop toilet is located nearby. At night the shelter is lit by solar powered lights & the glow of the campfire. The shelter is accessible by 4WD. Dogs are not permitted. Limited firewood is provided. Firewood can be purchased at $50 for a generous bundle. It is not possible to know how much firewood is required for your stay so during winter please take this into consideration.

The host was helpful and offered to help me into a smaller site. The park is close to servo's and restaurants In Camden which was convenient for us. Given its location, I thought the price was little on the higher side. It was similar to beach front locations.

The host was lovely and it had all we needed. It’s not a big park but it was quiet and really close to cafes and restaurants. Water pressure was great at the amenities however there were stairs up to the showers we went to which might be tricky for older people. But there were two facilities. I’d stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Melon Green! We had clear directions on getting there and a lovely welcome from Lyndall who pointed us to a lovely private site near the dam. It was so peaceful and we felt a million miles away... although a mere 10 minute drive from local shops / bakery etc. We will definitely be booking again! Highly recommend.

What a lovely place to stay. Flat ground to set up on, quiet area and heaps of places to set up the fire pit. Beautiful watching the horses frolicking around in the afternoon. In spite of the rain we had a relaxing weekend and will definitely be back.

2 nights at Camden Holiday Park

After a long drive with few amenities along the way, we were very pleased with the full hookups and hot showers at Camden. The park is clean and well-maintained, and check-in was easy. The toilet dump site was just a short walk away. We had a nice area to set up our table and chairs outside. The only thing we missed was being able to build a campfire. The listing said campers could build a fire at communal sites, but we didn't see a place to do that. Other than that, everything was well thought out and convenient.

Nice quiet spot to relax, we camped around the dam the ground not perfectly flat but didnt cause us any problem, we had 2 x vans access not a problem. Would stay there again.

Like comment’s already written , we loved our stay here , was so peaceful . We suppose to stay three night but had to make our way home after two nights due to caravan issue. The directions were simple, roads in were great. We will be definitely return here again .
