The best camping near Racecourse Beach, NSW guide

Overview

About

Racecourse Beach, located on the southern end of the Sapphire Coast in New South Wales, is a picturesque stretch of coastline known for its beautiful white sand, crystal-clear waters, and stunning rock formations. The beach is backed by a lush, green landscape and provides an excellent spot for swimming, fishing, surfing, and other beach activities. When camping near Racecourse Beach, be sure to enjoy views of the nearby Pambula Lake and the picturesque town of Merimbula. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or an adventurous getaway, Racecourse Beach is the perfect spot for a memorable holiday.

When to go

The best time to visit Racecourse Beach is during the warmer months, from November to April, when the water and air temperatures are most inviting for beach activities. However, be mindful of the peak holiday seasons, as the beach can get quite busy. Off-season visits might offer a quieter experience but come prepared for cooler conditions and less predictable surf.

Know before you go

  • Always swim between the red and yellow flags, as the beach is known for strong rips, especially near Bull Pup Point.
  • Check the local weather and surf conditions before heading out to ensure a safe experience.
  • There are no Surf Life Saving services provided, so ensure you're confident in your swimming abilities.
  • Accessibility to the beach is available from the northern car park by the main road.
  • The beachfront caravan park south of the creek mouth offers accommodation options for overnight stays.
