Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional serenade of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away. Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. The lounge room has a couch, 40 cm TV with DVD player, small table and chairs. There’s no free to air TV channels available. BYO DVD or there’s a small selection available. No Wi- Fi There’s a small firepit and chairs in the yard to enjoy the sun setting over the mountains and stars at night. The cabin is a few minutes drive to the creek where you can go swimming. Relax on the sun lounge listening to the birds sing and Christmas Creek flowing by, or enjoy a Scenic drive or bushwalk in the local area. Christmas Creek Café is just down the road. Our campground is on my family’s dairy farm that has been in the family since 1904. I’m the 4th generation on the farm and work alongside my parents and my husband operating the family business of milking cows. The campsite is on a private area of flat ground right beside the Oxley River with views of Mt Warning. We are excited to share our piece of paradise with others. We DO have a composting toilet but DON’T have any shower facilities. Although the creek is very close by we advise you bring your own drinking water. We are pleased to provide a gravelled campfire area along with a gorgeous outdoor setting that seats 8. Our campground provides a unique private camping opportunity. Once you book whether it is for a group of one or 25 no one else can book the site. The site is not visible from the road. Perfect for a relaxing getaway that brings you close to nature and connecting with friends. As we are a working farm, unfortunately, we cannot allow pets.

But if your dog is not friendly or is likely to venture into someone else camping area, than will have to be on a leash. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Stephen & Sharon have honestly created one of the best Hipcamps we’ve ever stayed at. The property is massive, with most of it dedicated to conservation, and you can really see the difference — the wildlife, the scenery, everything just feels untouched and properly looked after. It’s so refreshing. They’ve got kayaks and gold pans you can use for free, which is such a cool touch. There’s a great mix of accommodation too — bell tents, treehouses and standard campsites — all spaced out really well so you’re not on top of each other. There are toilets and showers scattered across the property, plus a beautiful camp kitchen with a fridge, utensils, pizza oven, and heaps of character/history inside. Couldn’t recommend this place more. Absolute 10/10. We’ll definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

The H2 treehouse on the Clarence river was very enjoyable and well supplied for equipment in the kitchenette. The rustic charm of the living quarters made whiling the hours away to the soft babble of the river rapids and the wind gusts through the trees most pleasant. Sharon and Steven were accommodating hosts and were more than happy to provide recommendations as needed. We used a 4x4 to access the lodge which made light work of the sometimes rocky track and the wildlife we saw during our long weekend stay included colourful songs birds, goannas and ducks. We loved using the free canoes on the 1km stretch of river but sadly we did not see any platypus - hopefully we will see them next time!

Stayed a few nights in a cabin, the bird and running water sounds of the river made it so peaceful. Sat by a fire and enjoyed the stars, swam in the rapids, just a Great place to get away from it all! BACK TO NATURE!! We loved our stay. We booked The Woody and it was perfect for the weekend. We're looking forward to returning with the tent to explore the rest of the property. Our glamping stay was absolutely magical! The accommodation was cozy, clean, and beautifully set up, but what truly made it special were the animals. Kathy is absolutely great host. The caravan we stayed was great. We were 5 family members and we faced no issues at all in staying at her place in her caravan. The caravan was clean and tidy. There is a kitchen, toilet and beds. The location where it parked was absolutely fabulous, serene and private. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend her caravan for others too.

Beautiful spot with a fantastic view camp trailer was clean and had all the equipment needed in the kitchen, whole camp ground was very tidy including toilet and showers, great creek for kids to play ,lots of bush walks for all levels of fitness and some really nice swimming holes. Gorgeous part of the world. Well kept camping grounds with hotshowers and toilets near the camp kitchen. Camp kitchen was immaculate with microwave, kettle, washing facilities, cooktop and castiron over the fire, along with a lounge space and plenty of board games for the kids. Small hill from the powered camping which was also a minute stroll down to the creek.

Weekend Trip to Undullah-Moore farm

We loved our stay at Undullah- Moore Farm. The Farmhouse Cottage is well appointed with all the comforts of home but the fire pit, woodford hot tub, 4wd track and spacious, private position at the top of the hill, with its extensive views of farmland and Flinders Peak, gave enough of a feel of escaping the city. The hospitality was warm and genuine, facilities spot on and the atmosphere property itself immaculate. 10/10.

Sitting at the base of Mt Barney and with a small creek for you to cool off and swim, very safe for kids and little ones, very close access to main hikes of Mt Barney, the hosts were lovely and thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them! Everyone else camping were clean and quiet and made for a relaxing time No cell reception, which is great to switch off Knowledgeable staff Good amenities block with warm shower Our views were looking straight at the mountain. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have recommended to friends and family since, we will be back :)
