Mountainview offers approximately 15 acres/700mts of riverside van sites which cater only to self-contained vans. Public toilets are within easy walking distance in the local township of Long Flat where you will also find a great pub and general store to resupply (1 km from property entrance).
The property features a gated entrance and graveled road for your convenience and safety. We have 13 designated van sites available with plenty of space for privacy. If you are booking with others, please let us know so we can site you together.
We are unable to accommodate tent sites.
The river is a perfect spot to swim, kayak or fish with plenty of wildlife around to see, river shoes are advised for your comfort. The river can sometimes be swollen and fast flowing. Please watch children at all times.
Camping fires are only allowed outside of fire restrictions. Fires must be in a proper container / bucket. Please leave site clear. If you forage for wood please clear site of whats left before leaving This property is pet friendly though we do ask that owners leash and clean up after their fur babies. Dump points are located at Wauchope and Port Macquarie. We ask that all rubbish is taken with you upon leaving. Please be mindful that we do have neighbours and we ask that you be respectful and keep all noise to a minimum after 11pm and before 6am.
Please DO NOT cut through our neighbours property to get to and from pub. This is classed as trespassing and you will be ejected from property.

The Abundance Nursery and Cafe with it's splendid lily pond view is a great spot to enjoy a meal or a coffee and only 3 kms back along Rawdon Island road.
The pretty country town of Wauchope is only a 12 minute drive and is home to Timbertown, a theme park boasting steam train rides and a glimpse of the timber getting industry of a bygone era.
Drop into the Vibe Coffee House, pick up "the best" coffee and a sensational meal before perusing the many treasures of Wauchope's specialty shops.
A day trip to the Comboyne plateu is a rewarding experience and enhanced by enjoying a meal at the magnificant Byabarra Cafe on your way through.
Whilst the meals equall those of any capital city restaurant, the view of the valley will take your breath away.
And then; there's Port Macquarie (20 mins) and sorrounds! one of the most scenic and attraction packed areas of Australia's eastern seaboard. Stunning beaches, amazing walks, top class restaurants, the list goes on.

You’re welcome to stroll through the property, where you’ll see fallow deer, sheep, wallabies, and a variety of bird life.
We love welcoming groups of family and friends to enjoy catching up in nature, and we pride ourselves on offering a relaxed, friendly experience. But if you’re looking to party, Diamond Park Campsite is not for you.
We host a maximum of 20 guests on the property. We loved staying at Catherine's Hipcamp! It was a beautiful, well kept site next to a gorgeous giant tree. It was a large fenced area so our toddler and kelpie had lots of space to explore. There is a big table and bench undercover and campfire supplied. There was a resident kookaburra who visited us often, and alpacas and sheep over the fence. The compositing toilet was great to have nearby, and we drove up for a hot shower each evening. And the dog friendly Diamond Beach was only 5 mins down the road. We'll be returning often!

Lovely quiet and well maintained camp sites on the bank of the Hastings River. Mid April, but still warm enough to swim in. The campsites are well spaced apart and have lovely views over the river and surrounding mountains. Perfect for a restful few days.

Fabulous spot. We had a great time at BigTree. The kids enjoyed feeling the llamas, dog had fun running around, fishermen didn't quite get many fish but still had fun fishing at the dam and nearby beach.
Facilities were clean, host were friendly, and last but not least, best composting toilet ever.

We had an awesome stay at Hamilton’s Hideaway. The sites are really spacious and right on the banks of the nearby creek, so you’ve got that perfect mix of privacy and nature. Waking up to the water, wildlife around camp, and the chance to throw a line in straight from your site was hard to beat.
Overall, a really well-kept, relaxing spot. Highly recommend Hamilton’s Hideaway if you’re after a peaceful, nature-based getaway with easy access to everything nearby.

Riverside camping spot was really good, had our two blue heelers with us there was great !
Would definitely recommend, owner also had a woodpile from a bridge he had rebuilt, on his property for a campfire right next to the campsites, obviously a bonus.

We absolutely loved our stay at Herring Estate. The views and scenery were amazing. We felt safe and there is enough space that it was also private and peaceful. It is also far enough off the highway that u can hardly hear the trucks at night. There r sites on top of the hill with views of the ocean and mountains and sites near the pond for those that don’t want to tackle taking the van up the hill. We have recently had our son and daughter in law move to Old Bar so we will definitely be regulars at Herring Estate !! It is an amazing Hipcamp. Thank you Kristy for our stay !! Waking up to a warbling Magpie, the rustle of a light breeze through the trees, witnessing a flock of Black Cockatoos and the sound of Kookaburras stating the claim of territory….plus stellar sunsets! Less than 5 minutes from the freeway and a short drive into Harrington and Crowdy for breathtaking coastal views.

All the good reviews of this place are correct. It's like you are on the top of the world and can see for miles. So peaceful. A lovely place to rest for a couple of days.
