The Riverland is an amazing place to visit, full of so many surprises! The variety in the landscape, from harsh limestone plains to beautiful rolling sandhills, to the beauty of the Murry River. There is so much wildlife to see especially when it comes to bird watching! And the area is full of history! In every town you will discover many historical facts and buildings, machines etc. We even have histroy right here on our property!-ruins of an old school. Oh, do I hear you love taking your horse out for trail rides? Well, here's the perfect place for that too! At the campsite - approx 2km away from the farmhouse - you have the privilege of being surrounded by natural scrublands and habitats on the plains. See our mallee, acacias, sugar woods, grevilleas, honeyeaters, wrens, finches, kangaroos, emus & more. And don't forget the stars!! Our night sky is amazing due to very low light interference. At times, wake up to the sounds of sheep bleating and drinking from the trough a few hundred meters away. We have a central campfire area for each site and a double sink connected to river water for washing up and a large prep area on sites 1 & 2. Also on site 1 & 2, just a short walk from the camp fire is an outdoor flushing toilet with hand basin-a luxury for a station stay! Often there are things happening on the farm. Feel welcome to ask if there is anything you can be a part of to add to your holiday experience! We may be moving sheep, shearing, crutching, fencing, feeding the farm animals, milking our house goats etc. Even come for a horse ride (further info in 'Extras")! Well behaved dogs are welcome, but please discuss this with us prior to booking and they must be on a lead at all time. Sites are family friendly. WHAT A FANTASTIC PLACE TO VEG OUT!!! Leanne is the best, informative and super friendly Hostess we have ever encountered in 5 years of touring. Leanne has tours of wildlife, sandhills etc. If you require them We had 3 great days there, it has a flushing toilet, non potable water and a private place for our 2 Puppies to run around. Clear ground for 100 metres all around, no snakes, if you have kids or pets Plenty of dead wood for the firepit. The road in and out is accessible and acceptable. This is the first time we have used Hi Camps. We will definitely use again. We will definitely return in the next 12 months Thanks so much Leanne, for keeping the area in such good shape

Site 2 - Stockyard Plains
Leanne’s place was definitely lovely with surreal night skies! We camped during the weekday so we had the whole place to ourselves, enjoyed campfire marshmallows and beautiful nature. Camped close to the long drop toilet and prep area with sink which made food preparation more convenient. I definitely recommend this place for those who want to enjoy the views, birds, sheep, etc.

We truely loved our time at Stockyard Plain. Leanne took us to our site, showed us around and made us feel right at home. A beautiful property to explore, complete solitude and…..a flushing toilet and running water is an absolute bonus!!

Sunrise and sunset were beautiful, plenty of space, toilet was clean, host Leanne was good with communication. Good spot for overnight stay on our way to Flinders Ranges. Don't follow hip camps GPS coordinates, Ensure you put address into Google maps.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of open space. Handy having the large table at the site and running water and sink, we didn't use the toilet, so can't comment on that. Good having the horse ride option, young fella enjoyed that. Be aware it's a reasonable drive off the highway, but the driveway was well maintained, so no issue even if in a 2 wheel drive car

If you love peace and quiet the this is the place! Around 5km off the main road. Running water in toilet an unexpected bonus in a remote camp. Very friendly communications with the owners. Also a fantastic spot for star gazers. Only minor downside is that lack of rain has left the site a bit dusty.

Site 1 - Stockyard Plains
We had a great time at stockyard plains. The site was nice and secluded but still had some luxuries like a flushable toilet and sink with running water to prep meals and clean up. Leanne and the family were super helpful and our boys loved meeting the animals, going on a horse ride and playing with their young boys. We also found that this was a good base to explore some of the Barossa’s wineries and other great areas in the River Lands. We will definitely be back and will stay a bit longer.

Such a beautiful spot! Lots of birds, a few kangaroos, peace and quiet. Bruce and Leanne are excellent hosts, making sure everything is as it should be. The bush offers beautiful walks and perfect sunsets! Thank you for having us!

Site 1 - Groups
In the winter there is nothing like camping with friends where the most difficult decision you have to make is what to time to stoke up the fire to have coals ready to cook on. Our group of three couples discovered this site last year and came back again this year because it would be hard to find anywhere better. Leanne makes great bush camping so easy. Your firewood order is delivered neatly stacked and ready to use. The toilet is clean and well supplied. And if there are any issues arise, send a message and Leanne will be all over it. It doesn't rain a lot out here. But what rain you do get doesn't cause mud because it is sandy soil. If you camp by the River Murray a couple of mm will give you a slick clay that sticks to your boots something awful. Will we be back next year? That decision has already been made as a resounding YES.

I had a lovely time in my camper trailer on Leanne's land. The sites are well spaced apart and generously sized. With clear skies on the first night, I had an amazing view of the stars and Milky Way. It's a very quiet and relaxed location and Leanne is a friendly and helpful host.

Our family loved our time at Stockyard Plains, the hosts were so lovely and the location was perfect. The camp set up is great with enough space between camps for privacy amongst the scrub, each having their own campfire set up and the flushing toilet was a huge bonus. We loved meeting Astro the pony and rest of the family, who came down to meet us. Completely agree with the 100% rating, exactly what we look for in a hipcamp. Thank you

Lovely hosts and great camping! This is a working farm with real outback scenery and sunsets. Good setup with toilet and fireplace. Quite dusty when we were there but it doesn’t detract from the arid Beaty Would recommend! Thanks Leanne and family!

We absolutely loved our time here! Not only is the property peaceful and quite there is just a specially feeling about being out there. It was lovely to watch the kids make there own fun. Our girls 9, 4 and 1 (and Dad) loved building a stick cubby like others that were around and also loved seeing the sheep wonder by! Leanne and her boys are incredible host and so welcoming! The girls loved being introduced to all the animals around the homestead and we loved hearing the history of the property. We decided to add on an extra horse ride of the girls and it was the icing on the cake for our girls.

Amazing views. Extremely clean, flushing toilet which you never find that far out in the bush. A area to clean your dishes. The hosts went above and beyond. Some of the kindest hosts we have come across. Highly recommend. And the stars at night were incredible!!!

We really enjoyed tent camping, with our dog, at Stockyard Plains for three nights. The campsite was very quiet with great views of the stars. We like to camp simply but, we appreciated the clean flushing toilet and the sink unit supplied by river water at the campsite. Leanne and her family were friendly and helpful and we saw kangaroos, birds of prey and rabbits on the property (in addition to the station's sheep, goats and horses). A nice campsite away from the crowds at this busy time of year.

We loved our time camping here. Wide open spaces and the luxury of a flushing toilet and plumbed sink made it a unique experience. Sites are several km away from the farmhouse, so very private, and skies great for viewing the night sky. There are sheep wandering around, but they keep their distance.

There is plenty of space for tents and caravans, the toilets and running water a quite a luxury! Bring some shade if it is a warm time of year. There is mottled shade from trees and bushes, but bring solid shade if it's warm. Thanks for a nice time.

What a fantastic place !!! We will definitely be back for a longer stay next time. So peaceful and the views are amazing Flushing toilet nearby and wide open camp spots . Perfect for stargazing at night .
