The Riverland is an amazing place to visit, full of so many surprises! The variety in the landscape, from harsh limestone plains to beautiful rolling sandhills, to the beauty of the Murry River. There is so much wildlife to see especially when it comes to bird watching! And the area is full of history! In every town you will discover many historical facts and buildings, machines etc. We even have the ruins of an old school on our farm. At the campsite - approx 2km away from the farmhouse - you have the privilege of being surrounded by natural scrublands and habitats on the plains. See our mallee, acacias, sugar woods, grevilleas, honeyeaters, wrens, finches, kangaroos, emus & more. And don't forget the stars!! Our night sky is amazing due to very low light interference. At times, wake up to the sounds of sheep bleating and drinking from the trough a few hundred meters away. We have a central campfire area for each site, with iron plates for cooking over the open fire plus a double sink connected to river water for washing up and a large prep area. Just a short walk from camp is an outdoors flushing toilet with sink. Often there are things happening on the farm. Feel welcome to ask if there is anything you can be a part of to add to your holiday experience! We may be moving sheep, shearing, crutching, fencing, feeding the farm animals, milking our house goats & cow etc. Even come for a horse ride! And those who have horses are more than welcome to come, if you have your own yards and let us know this is what you'd like to do. We can lead you on a trail ride or explain where you can go for a ride. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but please discuss this with us prior to booking. Sites are family friendly. Please let us know if you have children so we can accommodate the pricing. We want you to have the best camp experience! If you are camping with friends, why not do a Group Booking? You will find this if you search "Stockyard Plains Group Booking" in the search bar. Come and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax and unwind in quiet of our county property. Easy communication and the site having a flush loo and running water was most welcome. The entrance off the highway isn't well marked so you need to start indicating your intention to turn into it early, especially if you have a road train pursuing you. Nice tracks for a mtn bike ride and managed to see an emu and multiple kangaroos.

This was a fantastic stay. The host Leanne couldn't have been more friendly. I did the sand dune experience and she explained to me the wildlife on her property. It's a huge sheep station so it felt incredibly private. I felt very safe because the hosts were really nice. A good safe place to stay if you're travelling alone. Lovely landscape. Would definitely come back

Camping with horses!
Highly recommend staying at stockyard plains! The hosts were so helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Great place to stay, big open spaces, plenty of room for the kids to explore and have fun, we had a fantastic campfire and the stars were bright and beautiful. We had a storm in the afternoon and they checked on us to make sure we were ok and made us feel welcomed and we will definitely be back. We took our horses with us and had a great weekend riding around the place. Perfect way to spend the weekend.

We had a fabulous weekend away at a really great camping spot. So very hospitable hosts who made us feel very welcome! Our batteries are definitely recharged and we are already planning our next visit! :-) Next time we will bring our bikes though as there is a lot more to explore on this large property…

Absolutely loved our stay at Stockyard Plains. On our arrival, Leanne greeted us and made us feel so welcome and so kindly escorted us to the campsite. The word campsite does really not do it justice however. A sparkling clean outdoor flushing toilet complete with a hand basin, a spacious area to set up that would suit a caravan or camper trailer ....even a plumbed in kitchen sink and so much more!! Fantastic!! Leanne and Bruce are such wonderful, thoughtful and friendly hosts who really do go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. True Gems in the Riverland. Looking forward to coming back !!
