Stayed at The Bend spot for one night this week. Was a fantastic spot, the cows were fun company! Directions given to find the spot were accurate and easy. Plenty of fire wood and fresh water. Great stay

The Bend
Second time camping at the bend, and definitely not our last. The scenery is spectacular, cows gentle and curious, and our host James was friendly and accommodating as always. Canoeing in the lake and seeing Swans and their baby was a real treat. Can’t wait to be back!

We loved this site. Quiet, beautiful, all of the needed camping amenities thought of. A nice flat spot for us to park our truck camper. Access road was in great condition. Despite being near water, we didn’t find mosquitos or bugs to be too bad. James was helpful and responsive. There was a lake with kayaks- we didn’t get a chance to use them this time but hope to come back! Do yourself a favor and book this campsite

We loved our stay at James’s site, nice and quiet and secluded. We took the walk through to the lake and enjoyed some quiet time, all signs and the map to the lake were easy to follow. Firewood was left out as well as wash and drinking water. Would absolutely recommend!

Nice place to camp. Easy to follow directions, lots of firewood provided, very private, nice scenery. Bathroom is an open air composting pit toilet, uncomfortable in the rain, but otherwise pleasant. Overall our family enjoyed the stay!

We loved our stay! Host was super nice and accommodating. Provided water fill up for our RV and extra water jugs at our site as well. Beautiful and secluded spot that came with a bunch of firewood! We used solar the whole time and it got really great coverage all day. The pit toilet was also very nice. We took a hike to their lake and hopped on the canoes which was such a delight. I highly recommend this hipcamp and I’ve stayed a lot of them and this was special. You’ll be very pleased :)

Great location. Very private and secluded. Plenty of fireword and space. Definitely enjoyed the nature and the noises of the cows! Host was amazing to communicate with. I will definitely be returning.

Our stay at the North Creek campsite was great! Lots of space for my kid to run around and explore, and it was spotless. Stocked with firewood and water. We enjoyed seeing the cows and hearing them from our site. We would definitely stay again.

James's directions were spot-on, which helped greatly because we didn't arrive until 1030PM after driving 13 hours from Idaho. The campsite had amenities and was in a nice clearing, which would have provided excellent star-gazing had it not been mid-summer. We woke to cattle licking ash from the fire pit and enjoyed watching them while having breakfast. In spite of being in the midst of a ranch, the site was clean (no cow pies). I don't know aht James feeds his cattle or how he raised them, but the cows refrained from pooping while we enjoyed breakfast.

Nice access point to Kananaskis. James is a great host really went over the top for us. We loved the site and privacy. Hawks and loons ! One caveat is that this is a ranch so if you are not up for all things cattle: bellowing and a fair bit of cow chip you should think twice. Did not bother us at all and the secluded location was worth it.

The site is secluded and very private. It's a large area surrounded by trees with flat ground for camping or RV. James is a wonderful host, he prepared the site with chopped wood, axe, shovel, along with a jug of potable water and huge container of water for washing. We didn't end up using the water for washing since we had a RV but it is very thoughtful. We pass a couple of sights with cows and you do hear them mooing in the distance at North Creek around sunset time, very cool!

Our 4th trip to “Cattle Ranch in the Foothills” was amazing as always! Several years ago this was our first Hipcamp experience and we’ve continued to come back each year since. The hosts James and Sheila are amazing…kindly letting us know when the fire ban was lifted and bringing us firewood so we could try out the new custom fire pit. The land and campsite are amazing…secluded in natural beauty with “The Bend” having a new loop for vehicle/rv parking and campsite setup. And amazing opportunities to have an authentic cattle ranch experience when the curious cows pass by or to observe nature at its finest with local wildlife. All amazing reasons why we’ll continue to visit “Cattle Ranch in the Foothills” in the future!

As a first time visitor I was a bit nervous. I drove past the gate and although i understand they prefer no signage, perhaps a ribbon or something in the gate would be nice. The campsite was absolutely lovely. The cows are curious and sweet, their visits were an absolute highlight. There was a fire ban so I sadly couldn’t use the fire pit, but hope to next time. The water and maps were great, and the toilet didn’t smell and was a fun experience. I enjoyed myself greatly and will book again.

Truly fantastic. incredible spot in the foothills between Calgary and Canmore! So beautiful, spacious, and secluded. Loved the sturdy picnic table, cool fire pit, stacked firewood and an open air outhouse featuring a charming view of the woods! James is an excellent host who thinks of everything (even a shovel for the cows!) We enjoyed marked trails to a pond and a lake with canoes, kayaks and Muskoka chairs to watch the loons from the small dock. Truly welcoming!

The Meadow - Cabin, Bunkhouse

We really enjoyed our stay here over the long weekend. James went beyond my expectations with thorough directions, a map of the land and supplies such as firewood, toilet paper, water, etc. North creek was a beautiful site with lots of open space and places to explore.

The Meadow - Cabin, Bunkhouse
This was our second time at James’s land. We had really great time and the place has everything that you need. We all loved the quietness, lots of birds singing.
When we were coming in on Friday, I saw baby cow and goose were playing together. That was one of the most beautiful coexistence living I saw. Cattle did not come back after we reach. My son was missing the cattle’s. I hope we did not disturb their regular routine.

Our group of 6 stayed in the cabin from Oct. 18-20. We absolutely love everything! We had lots of privacy and it felt peaceful to be surrounded by nature. We also enjoyed the lake and made good use of the facilities. James was very accomodating and awesome. Definitely would recommend this place and we hope to be back soon!!

This was our third camping trip to James’s “Cattle Ranch in the Foothills”. We have stayed at both “The Bend” and “North Creek” campsites and both are quite private with beautiful views of the surrounding area including spectacular views of the Northern Lights during our most recent stay. As a working cattle ranch it’s a fun experience when the cattle pass by along with a variety of wildlife.
