Hilltop Country Camping

12 sites · RVs, Tents175 acres · Crows Nest, QLD
We have several peaceful campsites available on our 175-acre property - some with beautiful escarpment views, and some amongst the peaceful surrounds of the bush. We are 10km from the town of Crows Nest on the Great Dividing Range. 50 minutes from Toowoomba and 2 hours from Brisbane. The hill on the property (Flat Top) is one of the highest points in the area at 660m altitude. From the hilltop, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding area, with views across the Esk Valley towards the Sunshine Coast, sunsets over the hills surrounding Crows Nest, and even glimpses of Cressbrook Dam. There are 2 separate campsites on the hilltop, one at each end. We also have 3 secluded bush campsites down in the paddocks, these are private and peaceful with no other campers within sight. They are all situated to be able to enjoy the sunset. We feel very spoilt living here in this beautiful place and would love for others to share it. It is extremely quiet and peaceful, yet less than a 15-minute drive to Crows Nest. There is plenty to explore in the area, including: 🏞 Crows Nest Falls National Park (good for a swim) 🐃 Bullocky's Rest and creekside walk in Crows Nest (dog friendly) 🌳 Ravensbourne National Park (rainforest) 🏚 Crows Nest Museum 🎣 Cressbrook and Perseverance Dams 🚂 Muntapa Railway Tunnel towards Cooyar ☕️ French patisserie and other cafes in Crows Nest. 🛍 Antique and boutique shops 📚 Second-hand book store 👩‍🌾 Also markets in Crows Nest on the first Sunday of each month. We hope we can help you have a pleasant and peaceful camping trip! Please note: We have a long gravel driveway and dirt/grass tracks to the campsites. 2WD accessible, but it's rough. Pet friendly 🐕

The best camping near The Palms National Park guide

Overview

About

Nestled in Southern Queensland Country, The Palms National Park invites you to immerse yourself in a tranquil enclave of piccabeen palms and diverse wildlife. Venture along the short circuit track, where the rainforest whispers secrets of ancient times, and the local fauna playfully engages visitors in a natural symphony. Although camping is not available within the park, the allure of a bush picnic or a leisurely walk through the rainforest beckons.

When to go

The best time to visit The Palms National Park is during the cooler months, from April to September, when the climate is mild and the risk of storms is lower. Summer brings warmer temperatures and the chance of rain, making it less ideal for those looking to explore the park's walking tracks and picnic areas.

Know before you go

  • Check local road conditions with the Department of Transport and Main Roads before your visit.
  • Facilities at The Palms are not wheelchair accessible, so plan accordingly.
  • Bring essentials like a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and drinking water.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted, ensuring the protection of native wildlife.
  • Mobile phone coverage is unreliable, so prepare to be out of service during your visit.
