Meals are a special experience for our guests, and you have a lot of delicious options. Our friendly outdoor cooking area features barbecues and a pizza oven (depending on when you book). This is a great place to make new friends.
The country store is stocked with the usual groceries, along with bait & tackle and camping accessories. We have fishing kits, s’mores kits, and many pre-made food options to make your stay easier. You can grab a pizza for the outdoor pizza oven, or if you don’t want to cook after a long day, pick up a convenient crock-pot meal. Crock pots are included in the kitchenette hotel rooms. Just place a pre-made meal in the pot and dinner will be waiting for you when you get back from your lake adventures.
Our family restaurant is a local favorite and offers fried, fresh-caught catfish. We are open for three meals most days. You can have a hot breakfast starting at 6:00 am, and be on the water or in the woods at sunrise.
The restaurant crew is happy to deliver food to your room, RV, or campfire--and you might even talk our chef into grilling your catch.

Babbling Brook Campground
4 sites · Lodging, Tents10 acres · Moravian Falls, NCIn the 40's and 50's this spot was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Even buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic.
While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, get some rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.'
When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends.
Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind.
LOCAL ACTIVITIES:
To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away.
15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking.
Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away.
Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town.
About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.
To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public.
To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river.
There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages.
Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town.

Over three decades, our lovely grounds served as a boy's camp until it closed in 2010. We took up residence in 2015 and have worked diligently to bring the property back to life. Though there is still much progress yet to be made, even with limited resources, we've managed some impressive renovations!
Only 10 miles away by road, the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than a mile from the property peak, if you fancy a mountain scramble! Our mile-long driveway connects to the Surry County's Scenic Bicycle Trail and there's an abundance of options for biking, hiking, and paddling within 20 miles from camp. There's never been a better time to experience nature at its best when you visit us!
With endless outdoor and recreational spaces for you to explore, it's no wonder why many people can't resist staying on the mountain! Camp Karuga

Camp Karuga offers a fully equipped shower house with hot/cold water, electricity and charging stations. Enjoy the following on-site amenities during your stay in the coolest corner of North Carolina. On-site hiking trails, a pavilion with scenic pond for floating, a community fire pit, badminton, horse shoes and corn hole. We plan to offer in the near future on-site horse trail rides.
The tiny cabins can only accommodate 2 adults and 2 children maximum occupancy. If your family is larger than that, please contact us or the booking site to make additional arrangements. Each cabin is generously spaced from the others for a pleasant heir of privacy. Tent sites are also spaced apart with your privacy in mind.
Ashe County is offers something for everyone. Beautiful hiking trails are as close or as far as you want to drive to get there. Downtown offers an experience in walking back in time with a small town feel that is unmatched. Delicious eating experiences are available from country cooking to fine dining.
Camp Karuga is also perfectly situated for traveling to Boone, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk without the exhaustion of a long drive. There is so many wonderful experiences around Camp Karuga that it will be hard to choose from.
At Camp Karuga, you can be as active as you want, or just kick back and enjoy the view while your ears relax to the sound of our beautiful creek. Either way, you will leave a healthier, happier person and we are sure you'll want to come back. When you stay at Camp Karuga, we will make sure of it!
