Caravan camping near Busselton with campfires guide

Overview

The west coast of Western Australia, especially the section stretching from Busselton south to Cape Leeuwin, is one of the country’s most remote and prettiest areas. Here, you can swim at sandy beaches and check out the wildflowers. The compact Margaret River region is a hot spot for foodies, with local wines, craft brews and heaps of gourmet treats. The area’s coast is perfect for whale watching. Convenient camping options, from caravan parks to bush retreats dot the coast along Bussell Highway, and inland. Holiday parks have powered sites, plus cabins and chalets. Wilderness-lovers can ‘go remote’—National Parks and Wildlife’s campgrounds have basic campsites within incredible nature settings.

Busselton & Vicinity

Busselton, three hours south of Perth, is the region’s low-key commercial centre, stretched around Geographe Bay. Its main attraction is the 150-year old Busselton jetty that measures more than 1.8km long. Busselton has plenty of camp sites, parks and holiday villages that offer everything from a tent site, to chalets. Ocean-facing camp grounds, are dotted along the coast road. Glamping is available at nearby Margaret River. In town, there's a Big4, Mandalay Holiday Resort, Busselton Holiday Village and RAC Busselton Holiday Park.

Dunsborough

, a smaller and more relaxed Busselton, offers great whale watching charters and diving opportunities. But visitors tend to head here for the attractive beaches, the pride of locals. Ask for their picks? Meelup, Eagle Bay and Bunker Bay. The

explodes with wildflowers and colour in Spring.

gle in for the night at the DIY- Boranup Camp, nestled amongst towering karri trees.
